The SpaceAccording to Mrs Ornelas, this house was built by her husband's, Tom, grandfather, Pedro Baeza, around the 1890's. It features the original roof/ceiling made of cotton wood beams, wood slats and adobe, called "viga and lata" in Spanish. It has been remodeled recently to convey more of a feeling of a hotel room of the 1890's. It sits on a 5 acre wooded estate, full of birds and small animals, has a view of the mountains in Mexico and spectacular sunrises. Guest AccessThe guest will be able to come and go as they please, hike the woods or maybe cut trails first, and then hike the woods. It also has it's own washer and dryer and store room with a bike to borrow. Interaction with GuestsI pride myself on knowing a lot of the history of Presidio and the venues and activities in South Presidio County, I am always happy to share my knowledge, tho' one may have to follow me around as I attend to many chores. I am gathering tourist information to leave in the guest quarters. The NeighborhoodWe know everyone in the neighborhood. It sits down along a the strip of small estates know locally as the "ranchitos". Getting AroundThere is taxi service to and from Ojinaga. A lender bicycle is included with the casita. Other Things to NoteAfter dark, it get's very quiet except for all the animals and birds singing. We have coffee and creamers..but we stopped trying to leave food (it usually just went bad)

Located appx. 1.5 hr drive south of Marfa, the old La Junta General Store has been converted into a vacation rental. Old, historic, rustic - the property has most of the amenities one would expect in any house but we decided to leave the space with the feel of an old general store. With this in mind the decor and surroundings are eclectic, with old furniture and historic photos of the region. If you are looking to embrace your inner redneck then come on down and relax by our cement pond swimming pool. Palm trees, fruit trees, multiple shady areas, with a view of the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico, a veritable bird sanctuary with dozens of species flitting about each morning and evening. The ruins of an old historic adobe church are next door, and 100 yds. up the hill is the historic Ruidosa cemetery, with hundreds of Native American and modern era graves.

My place is appx. 60 miles south of Marfa near the Rio Grande, with great views of the Chinati and Sierra Madre mountains. You’ll love my place because of the location, in the Ruidosa Ghost Town. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
