The NeighborhoodBrunswick is well known for its many events and attractions including the Brunswick Music Festival, Sydney Road Street party, Melbourne Zoo, multi-cultural cuisine, Brunswick market and the community environment park. Traditionally a working class area noted for it's large Italian and Greek communities and long a stronghold of left-wing politics in Melbourne, Brunswick is currently known for it's local bohemian culture, strong arts community and large student population, owing to it's proximity to the University of Melbourne and RMIT University, the latter of which's Brunswick campus is located within the suburb. Brunswick takes its name from George IV and the city of Brunswick, Germany. It is bordered to the south by the suburbs of Princes Hill and Parkville, to the east by Brunswick East, to to the north by Coburg and to the west by Brunswick West. Brunswick's main thoroughfare and commercial strip is Sydney Road, which runs north-south as the continuation of Royal Parade and which several kilometres north of Brunswick becomes the Hume Freeway. (Thanks to Wikipaedia for this extract). Getting AroundTrams are just out the front, run every 6 minutes, and only take 10 mins to reach the CBD. Or you can travel north to Coburg and Preston. You can also walk to shops, cafes, restaurants etc in Sydney Road nearby, and some great restaurants nearby in Lygon St.. Other Things to NoteGuests will be asked to acknowledge acceptance of StayCentral Terms & Conditions and House rules, and may be asked to provide photo ID prior to, or on arrival. MINIMUM STAYS Please note that the minimum stays for this apartment are as follows: From Oct 2, 2016 - 7 nights From Jan 1, 2017 - 28 nights Pets are allowed in many of our apartments, as long as they are quiet, and do not damage or climb on the furnishings.

The SpaceSpacious and private, self contained studio apartment (with separate street entrance!) in inner city Melbourne suburb of Brunswick. A short walk to cafes, shops, pubs and bars of Brunswick, close to Fitzroy, Carlton, Northcote and Thornbury. Also close to the freeway from Melbourne airport (Tullamarine) making it convenient & easy for international visitors. I provide as much as possible (towels, soaps, hairdryer, umbrella, internet, TV, air-con, full bedding, Myki smartcards, tea & coffee, milk, bottle of wine, pack of Tim Tams biscuits, etc :) so you can travel as lightly as possible. The Studio Apartment A new, furnished, freestanding studio apartment in the backyard of my house in Brunswick. Has a separate street entrance so you have complete independence - come and go as you please. Newly built with very high green credentials, it is really cozy and warm. It accommodates 2 people in a very very comfy queen size bed (with King size duvet/quilt!). A fold out bed can be provided for an extra guest - inquire for details. The Studio is very quiet, and some people have commented that its bigger than it looks in the photos. Studio has a basic kitchen - bar fridge, single induction cooker, microwave oven, sink. You are very welcome to use the full kitchen & laundry inside the house if you need more :) With reverse cycle air-conditioning, it is very clean with modern bathroom, toilet and a very comfy queen size bed, and comfy fold out bed. Also has wireless internet and big screen TV. Car parking permit for 1 car (on the street) is provided. Environmentally Sustainable The studio apartment has been built in an environmentally sustainable way, with the following 'green' features - extremely good insulation - electricity from 100% green sources - solar hot water - double glazed windows Also, there is a nice deck for afternoon drinks (or any other time for that matter :) There is a separate street entrance to the studio, so you can come and go as you please without coming through the house. The Location Brunswick is bursting with cafes, night-life, restaurants (Thai, Indian, Japanese, Lebanese, Greek, Italian (holds world record for "Best Martguerita") & lots more) within 5 minutes walk. Brunswick is a student area which makes it vibrant and youthful (that's why I live here). However, the studio apartment is quiet as it is off the main strip. Melbourne University is an easy bike or tram ride. There are trams to the city (20mins by tram), RMIT, Carlton within a couple of mins walk. Community Garden About 30 meters down the street is the local Community Garden - a very sweet place to hangout or just lay on the grass and read a book. Very close to: - public transport (trams 1 & 8, & trains). Tram to city is 5 min walk, - restaurants, cafe's, bars. - many specialty shops close, and large supermarket 10 mins walk - and if you are a shopper, Sydney Road is the longest shopping strip in Australia, with lots of interesting shops of all descriptions. Bike(s) Also, you are very welcome to jump on the bike and go for a ride. There is 1 bike here that you are welcome to use. (If need another, the bike shop around the corner does daily & weekly rentals). Melbourne has great bike paths, and one of the main ones is very close If you have your own bike, storing it in the back yard is fine :) Public Transport I can loan you 2 or 3 Myki travel SmartCards for you to use on the Melbourne Public Transport system - this saves you having to buy your own (they cost $6 each) You can simply add credit and use mine - easy :) Public Transport is very close (both trams & trains). Feel free to ask lots of questions - very happy to answer them :) I look forward to you coming to stay. Best Regards Anthony

Guest AccessThere is a bike room to lock up your bike, and an underground car park if needed. (It is very congested and expensive to park in the city, so we highly recommend not renting a car. The public transport here is excellent and you will be able to get around almost anywhere). There is also plenty of street parking. Interaction with GuestsWe will be happy to show you around our area and point out things to do and places to eat. We are also here if you have any question on how to get to/get around the city. The NeighborhoodLygon street is full of different shops and food - Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Lebanese, Japanese, American, Irish, Greek, local breweries/pubs, and homemade gelato, which are all right downstairs - all within a 5 minute walk. Many local cafes and pubs have live music in the evening. The apartment building was just built in July 2014 and is very quiet, despite all the hustle and bustle downstairs. Sydney road is the next main street over (10 minute walk west on Weston st) and another great strip full of things to do, food to eat. The better cafes are a block or two north on Lygon st. (make a right on Lygon from the apartment). There are also food trucks in that area that park on the left side of Lygon. Getting AroundWe are in the perfect location for public transport. Two different trams run down Lygon st (1 min walk) straight into (and all around) the city (20min) and there are two different train stations (one east, one west) about a ten minute walk either way. I have never needed to take the train from Brunswick; the trams go directly into the city. To take public transport, you need a myki card with money on the card. We also have many board games, puzzles and DVDs which you have full access to. We do not provide WiFi access, however there are a number of local cafes that do. It's an easy walk to the zoo (via Princes Park), Edinburgh Gardens in Fitzroy along bike path, and a great ride to Collingwood Childrens Farm. The bike path 100m from our house is part of the mostly flat 29km Capital City trail which loops around Melbourne and includes many parks, zoo, Docklands precinct, Botanic gardens and MCG precinct, and has many great cafes along the way, with one of the hippest being Green Park only 500m from our house - a great place to start or finish your bike loop.
