If we are not here, our neighbor will introduce you to the house and be available as a first point of contact should any issues arise. We also offer an optional bed and breakfast arrangement if we are unable to vacate the house. The NeighborhoodThe East Side is a quiet, charming section of Providence, very near historic Brown University and RISD, and replete with beautiful 19th century homes. The area has lots of trees and gardens, is very safe and walkable, and provides easy access to highways, downtown Providence, including the famous Providence Waterfire ((URL HIDDEN) local shopping and eating. It is a quiet residential neighborhood with friendly neighbors. Getting AroundProvidence has a municipal bus and trolley system that can be accessed within a couple of blocks of the house. Block Island is also accessible via ferry from Newport, Point Judith or Fall River. You can reach Cape Cod Massachusetts in a little over an hour. Once on the Cape, you will have access to ferries to the famous Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard resorts. Total time to reach Nantucker (including ferry ride) is 3.5 hours, 2.5 hours to Martha's Vineyard. For bicycle enthusiasts, there is a 14.5 mile bike path from Providence to Bristol (URL HIDDEN) . There are a number of bike rental stores in the area, the nearest being NBX bikes, just off Hope Street at 4th St, about 5 minutes from the house. Other Things to NoteThe house has many architectural details that take you back to the beginning of the 20th century, such as bulls-eye door trim, wainscoting leaded glass windows and hardwood floors throughout. The pantry has glass cabinets and a second dishwasher, as well as frosted glass trim. The third floor bathroom, originally intended for the household live in help, which was common in this area in the early 1900's, features a ball and claw bathtub and a rare wooden toilet.

The SpaceThis is probably the smallest house on the East Side. It has a a small but charming living room, a large bedroom, full kitchen, little breakfast nook, small den (simply a couch....good place to read, do computer work, etc.), driveway, garage (where we store garden tools, etc.), jalousie windowed porch, and a fenced-in yard. The bathroom has a toilet, sink, and pebble-tile floor shower (we just eliminated the old tub because it was a challenge to get in and out). The living room sofa converts to a queen bed. There are doors between the LR and the hall so that the LR can be private. Pack n Play crib available. Also, inflatable twin mattress if you have a child. We do require a security deposit for monthly rentals. There is sufficient space in the driveway for 2 cars but one has to move in order for the other to get out. There are two air conditioners (1 in the bedroom and 1 in the living room). There are also ceiling fans in the bedroom and the back porch. Guest AccessGuests have access to the whole house and yard. It's very private. Interaction with GuestsWe greet our guests if possible. If not, we leave a welcome packet. We live close by so we are available to respond to any quests for info or help. The NeighborhoodThis is a great walking neighborhood with lots of specialty shops (olive oil, gourmet kitchen supplies, art, handcrafts, general gifts, etc.) and many restaurants. Getting AroundYou can get downtown via bus both on Hope St. and N Main St. To see the routes, go to (URL HIDDEN) and click on MAP ROUTES at the top of the page. A map will pop up and you can insert your address and your destination and then the route will appear. You can also find info for day and/or week passes on this site. It is pretty user-friendly.

Diverse, Historic up-and-coming neighborhood. coffee or tea available CALENDAR AVAILABILITY IS NOT ALWAYS AS ACCURATE AS I WOULD LIKE AS OUR FAMILY SCHEDULES SEEM TO CHANGE OFTEN. Tell us please, when inquiring, how many of you there are adults/ children and gender. This is important only to plan for our own children who may or may not be staying with us also...(There is plenty of room for everyone!) Please no unauthorized guests.... Thank you for your interest... Guest AccessOur house is open for you to enjoy, minus our own private rooms. We welcome you to our home. Interaction with GuestsInteraction is up to you. We are glad to give tips and pointers and send you on your way...or we can say nothing at all... Let us know what you would like... The NeighborhoodThe historic homes and architectural details are quite nice here. It is truly one of the last places left where you can get a city-side home with lots of space and detail for almost nothing. Of course, the neighborhood is in transition and a bit of common sense and good judgement goes a long way. NOTE: We love our house and our location. For us, everything is just a short drive away. We have never had a problem living here, but you can see some transient dicey people. As in any city, know your environment. Getting AroundWe are south of and less than two miles from the city center. This translates to about a 30 minute walk, a fifteen minute bus-ride, or a ten minute drive into the city. Parking in the city is abundant and inexpensive with many options available. There is a bus route on each end of the street. We always recommend the #20 into the city on the Elmwood Avenue side which will take you directly to Kennedy Plaza. There is also the new "R" line express into the city, but this stop is a longer walk from the house. A good local landmark to start your day would be the Knight Memorial Library on Elmwood Avenue. Other Things to NoteEFFECTIVE 01 JULY 2015. RHODE ISLAND STATE LAW HAS REQUIRED ALL SHORT TERM RENTAL PROPERTIES UNDER 30 DAYS TO COLLECT A 14% TAX. (7% STATE TAX, + 1% LOCAL TAX + 6% HOTEL TAX).

The SpaceThe building was constructed in about 1890 by mill owners at the time. All these homes were originally single-family homes but now it's a four unit building. What's nice about staying here is you get to enjoy so much of the history not only a Federal Hill but of the building itself. The architecture has carefully been preserved and are stored as needed. Parking is it a premium on Federal Hill and this unit includes two spaces, one of which is in the garage. We also have a small attractive outdoor space with flowers but no seating. The stainless steel island in the kitchen came out of a restaurant from the middle of the 20th century and reproduction stools have been installed as well nicely finishing a modern contemporary look in a traditional older home. I am proud to say we put a lot of effort into this unit and we do everything we can hosts to ensure that you wills be very comfortable for you. You will have access to talking for two vehicles one of which will be in the garage and the other in tandem. Also laundry machines, basic television, high-speed Internet and comfortable furnishings including all your linens provided. Linens of course meaning towels and sheets. This is a new service we just added! Our goal is to be the best on AirBnb! I believe that it's 95% about relationships and integrity! I am immediately available by text and I handle all of the maintenance issues directly. Response time is fast There are many places you could stay in Providence but I believe firmly this is the best place to stay because you're located in the heart of a vibrant neighborhood which is safe diverse and close to everything. This home I purchased back in 2000 and I painfully restored it to his grandeur. This particular unit is a times my second home and has lots of great detail including custom moldings, high end appliances and great furniture. When you rent from us will provide you with a list of our favorite places to go in the city. These include the Grange witches I could be the best restaurant in North America and only two blocks from this home. Also seven stars bakery which has the strongest coffee in the city and incredible pastries. I am located near downtown on the west side ,near bus lines ,highways and schoolsThis bedroom is upholstered in green silk more and decorated with Japanese woodblock prints. There's a four poster bed and definitely has a traditional feel to it..From the Morris wallpaper to the Tiffany lamps and stained glass windows and doors it's all here. This would be ideal for the traveler on business or recreation. There is parking, and ample grounds including a rose garden and deck. There is also a Steinway model B in excellant condition in the living room available for use.Truly unique. You simply are not going to find anything like this in Providence.I am located a half block from a bus stop that will take you directly downtown. Please note I now charge if there is more than one guest. This is simply because of the price of food. Interaction with GuestsIt depends on the week. I own a couple businesses and run a co-work space so my schedule is variable to say the least, but you will see me most days if I'm not working too late. The NeighborhoodSurrounded by quintessential victorian architecture your 2nd floor room is in the armory district on the hip westside of providence. We are a prideful and inclusive house hold.
