Other activities in the area include visiting a cacao farm and see how chocolate is made (!! consuming some is mandatory !), or just relax on the front deck of the Casita or at the beach and watch the monkeys and birds in the trees above.

Monkeys visit almost daily to the trees near the house. There are birds and butterflies in abundance.. and we have the largest population of Scarlet Macaws in the world. Collared anteaters and sloths can be seen in the adjacent forest. It has a beautiful private outdoor shower and hand made artisan features throughout. We also have a yoga deck/relaxation palapa located off the front gardens and situated right next to the pond. It's a covered open air deck perfect for yoga practice, a massage, or just listening to the frogs in the evenings. A recommended spot to sleep as well (not in rainy season). The SpaceNestled on a hectare of manicured grounds, Casa Playa Agujas is a two-story rustic country villa with most of the comforts and conveniences of home but all of the spectacle of the Osa jungle and raw coastal beach and mangrove wetlands bounding picturesque Golfo Dulce with coastal ridge on the eastern horizon and the the Talamanca Mountains a lavendar ribbon beyond them. Downstairs we have a full kitchen/dining area and living area, no walls, and a full bathroom. Covered porches wrap around two sides and are outfitted with four hammocks and are great lounging and common areas with large overhangs that make it the best spot for enjoying torrential downpours when they come. The kitchen includes a full fridge with a freezer compartment and a large new propane stove and oven. The house is fully outfitted with cookware, plates and silverware, and has great counter space, great for cooking, and a table that seats eight. We have a washing machine, but no dryer, so line drying only. The upstairs is the sleeping area and includes two individual bedrooms, each outfitted with a double bed and closet. The bunkroom adjoins these two bedrooms and has three bunk beds, so the total occupancy that can sleep in beds is ten, assuming two people in each of the private bedrooms. The upstairs master bedroom has a full bathroom, but this has no separate access to the other two sleeping rooms, though of course there is another bathroom downstairs. The house is open air, screened in, and while privacy walls provide visual privacy to the two bedrooms, the upper walls stop at ceiling level and separation above that is by screen. So, there is no aural privacy, meaning couples among groups should accommodate themselves to the idea of furtive coupling to avoid disturbing the slumber of your housemates. We have two kayaks for guest use in the tranquil waters of the gulf. Our location is in a portion of the Golfo Dulce that is shielded from Pacific Ocean swells and wave action, so the gulf shoreline is more like a lake than the beach. There are NO waves, so body surfers need not apply. However, their are also no currents making this the safest ocean swimming for the very young anywhere. Also the bottom is flat, and the flats extend several hundred meters from the shoreline at high tide, so you can wade and swim in chest deep water at high tide without worries about dropping off into the deep, and there are no currents. We have a pebble beach that opens onto the gulf, but the predominant habitat along our coastline is mangrove ecosystem, and tendrils that rise on either side of our beach merge in either direction with larger mangrove ecosystems, particularly of course at the estuary mouths of nearby streams that drain the peninsular highlands. Fishing is great, though you have to bring your own gear or make arrangements with us for gear plus or minus a guide for an added fee to take advantage of this great in house option. Think jack, snapper, roosterfish, snook, pompano, mackerel, barracuda . . . you never know what's going to be on the end of your line. The Playa Agujas grounds are an arboretum of fruit trees and a botanical garden of ornamentals. We have mango, mandarin lime, banana, plantain, water apple, all on our grounds, so help yourself to whatever is in season. The grounds are well-maintained and great for barefoot wanderings. A gravel path wends to the beach, and there is a picnic table in the front yard. Parking is in the lawn beside the house, and we boast broadband Internet connection.

The SpaceThe Fishack is a harborfront residential complex that includes three separate lodging options available either separately for small parties or together for groups. All are available for short-mid term rentals. The three-story home is situated on the edge of the Puerto Jimenez harbor and while less than one kilometer walking from downtown is separated from the Puerto Jimenez center by the mangrove estuary of Quebrada Cacao, which runs through town. As such, despite the proximity to town, from the third floor pool deck the only thing visible on the western horizon are the tops of the mangroves bounding the swamp. The home is supported by a caretaker family that lives beside the property with round-the-clock support and security. It is separated from the harbor road by a tangle of front-yard tropical ornamentals and a gated stone fence. The back of the property overlooks the mangrove swamp and from the balconies, caimans and crocodiles can frequently be observed sunning themselves in the shallows. A profusion of water birds call the estuary home as well as a flock of thousands of orange-cheeked parrots, which daily burst from their nests in the swamp at dawn to spread into the interior of the peninsula to forage and return en masse just before dark in a symphony of bird calls of hundreds of mating pairs homeward bound for the evening. The main home is a second story one bedroom apartment with a party deck with swimming pool upstairs. The single master bedroom a queen size bed and adjoining bath, and is air-conditioned. The kitchenette and dining area are joined to the living room, which has an alcove with two additional single beds. The main home is bounded by a verandah that wraps around the entire home for lounging areas with easy chairs. The third floor is the party deck and includes a roof top pool, living room set, dining table, swim up bar, stereo system, and both roofed and open air terraces, all bounded with a columned handrail and sporting superlative 360 degree views of the harbor and Golfo Dulce and the mangrove estuary behind the home. Wireless broadband Internet is provided. The Main House sleeps four in beds with expansion on foamies for an additional two people comfortable, four at a stretch, and the nightly rate is $150. There is no weekly discount for this home. The downstairs apartment has a large living room, bedroom with queen-sized bed, and bathroom, all fully air conditioned, with wireless Internet but no kitchenette. An outdoor verandah overlooks the mangrove estuary and conduces in one direction to the large open-air kitchen shared with the Main House and in the opposite direction leads to the Casita, which is a separate wholly contained structure. The downstairs apartment sleeps two comfortably, with expansion room for up to two more on foamies. Whereas the downstairs apartment is made available upon request as a stand-alone rental for $75 per night, it is usually included with the Main House for a single large group, with both units available for $200 per night with no weekly discounts available. Steps away from the main structure, the Casita is a recently remodeled two-story bungalow that features a second story loft sleeping area and a downstairs living area and kitchen. There is an outside roofed lounging area contiguous to the downstairs living room. A small second story porch affords a stunning view of the harbor, and the casita has wireless Internet service. The casita has a single double bed and is ideal for a single or a couple and has its own cooking facilities and refrigerator. The upstairs is air-conditioned. The home has a nightly rate of $100 and a weekly rate of $600. All three facilities boast a full assortment of linens, cookware, plates, glasses. There is a single washing machine that serves the entire facility and clothes lines but no dryer. The main home is occupied seasonally by the owners and has wall hangings and ornamentation and character. The grounds are maintained daily by the staff that lives in the adjacent home and are present 24/7 for support as needed. The caretaker staff provides catering upon request as well as daily or semi-daily housekeeping as desired and laundry services, all at modest additional charges detailed in the rates and reservations page. Because the Fishack is a short walk or taxi ride from the center of Puerto Jimenez, the air strip, grocery stores, and restaurants, a rental car is not a de rigueur compliment to those staying with us. However, to maximize an Osa Peninsula experience and to use the Fishack as a base for exploration of the peninsula's vast wealth of natural splendor, a rental car is a natural supplement.

The SpaceWe are located at 100 metres East from the Public Pier, directly on the fine sand Beach, where sea turtles come to feed on the weeds of the bottom, and where is possible to watch a lot of sea bird and Dolphins. In the Mangroves in the back of the Hotel lives a group of Capucine Monkeys that, often come to eat the fruit of the restaurant while Scarlet macaws come to feed on the Almond trees of the front , on the beach. So we are surrounded by the nature of the " Most Biodiverse area on Earth" as National Geographic define the Osa Peninsula. So if you are one of those kind of psycho that have problem with the presence of a fly, an ant or a bug, the Osa is not your place...just consider the fact that we had to place mesh to some of our windows for to maintain the Monkeys Outside!!!.... Guest AccessWe offer to our Guests an easy staying in simple, clean Rooms with private bathroom ( quite wide ones!!) with hot water from the typical electric showers. The front dehor of the restaurant and the Beach tables are at disposition of our Guests. We can take care of the baggage that would not be necessaries for multi-day tours, as the car. We don't have TV sets and telephone in the rooms, but there is free Wi-Fi Interaction with GuestsWe are available for to try to satisfy any needs as special diet or to help with planning your trip. The fare include a tropical breakfast of fruits plate, bread, marmalade and coffee. The Following are some reviews that other guests of this room left in the past: Violet The best thing about staying at Giulio's was the food. Because we loved it so much, we ate all our meals there. He has some beautiful, romantic beachfront tables where you can enjoy a platter of exotic fruit and milky coffee for breakfast, tasty salads and rosemary bread for lunch, not to mention spaghetti with seafood in the evening. You can have cocktails, cold beer, crisp white wine or fruity red wine to accompany your candle lit dinner. He has an extensive menu, including the ever popular pizzas but his 'spaguetti del marre' is to die for. All the staff, mainly members of his extended family, are helpful and 'simpatico'. We had a lovely stay. The location is great. There's WiFi. The room was fine and it was luxury to have an on suite bathroom after sharing a bathroom with 10 others at the last place we stayed! We have fallen in love with the Osa peninsula. It's very special and has become our favourite part of Costa Rica. March 2015 William Giulio's place is right across a path from the water in a remote area of town. The room is clean, comfortable, and it's a small place so there's plenty of privacy. It even has a nice restaurant. Recommend. March 2015 Jerian Giulio and his family were very friendly and accommodating. His wife, Cecilia, made us feel like almost a part of the family. The music from a nearby bar was very loud and made it hard to sleep but I know the owners cannot control this. Overall it was a very pleasant place to stay across from the beach in Puerto Jimenez. February 2015 Stefan We (german couple) stayed there for 3 nights. I can recommend the B&B as a convenient starting point for travelling into Corcovado Park- although the building is about 10 minutes walk away from downtown Jiménez. Beautifully situated at the sea, where you can have breakfast. The pictures which show the rooms are a little bit sugarcoated, but the room is clean and OK- although the windows do not really look on to the sea. Extra service: we got 2 kayaks from Giulio for free and had a great tour to some lonely beaches. February 2015 Lee-Ann Guilio and his family are all very kind and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed our stay with them. Our room was located behind the restaurant and perched on top of and looked out onto the mangrove. The bed is comfy and the room was clean. The view from our breakfast table, which was right next to the ocean was unbeatable! The NeighborhoodWe are located on the Puerto Jimenez Oceandrive Boulevard Beach, just in front of the Golfo Dulce The bus stop is at 800-900 metres from us, the ferry boat from Golfito is docking at the Public pier, at 150 metres, and the road from S. Jose' is now almost perfect. Getting AroundWe are at the Door of the Corcovado National Park, facing the calm waters of the Golfo Dulce. Birdwatching and nature tours are the most interesting things to do here around, as Sea Kayak for to watch Dolphins and Whales are really interesting too. Big Game Fishing is great in the waters in front of the Peninsula, and the infinite beaches offer the chance to see turtles nesting. Scarlet Macaws are common here as pigeon in towns, and they feed on the threes in the centre of town . The Osa Peninsula is the only area in Costa Rica that have the Four species of Monkeys that live in the country Other Things to NoteThis B&B/ Restaurant is our home too, where we live, sleep and work, so we will receive you as some of our long time friends, with all the benefit of this , but we don't have friends that aren't less than educated, polite, clean and interesting. We repeat: we are surrounded by a mangrove estuary and facing the beach across the road, our neighbours are Monkeys, Crocodiles, Scarlet macaws, Raccoons, Anteaters, Hawks, some small Boa, Sea Turtles, and the rest of the Wildlife of the Osa Peninsula, if do you think that you can enjoy the close company of these Friends of us without having to deal with some mosquito or some bug, please, just rethink your trip, and go to visit Disney-world instead.....we had to place mesh to some windows for to maintain the monkeys outside!!...
