The SpaceOur guest room looks south toward the college campus, we are fairly high up and you can see the town steeples and courthouse dome in the winter (east) hence our name "Steeplechase" and the fact that we are timber racing fans. The room has hardwood floors and very tall windows with antique glass. The bed is a queen size with a brand new pillow top mattress. The new bath is off of the sitting area/landing just outside the door to the room. It has a shower, toilet and pedestal sink. We have a whole house RainSoft water filter system. (extra Twin Beds room now also available see Summary) Ask for a special deal for longer term stays. I always book through AirBnB. We can probably accommodate you. Second bedroom available for primary guest's use only- just book "a third person" as needed. Notice: If you book extra people in your party, they will need to share your bathroom with you which is conveniently located to both rooms. The SpaceYou can immerse yourself in all the farm has to offer. Soaking in the spring fed hot tub, relaxing in a red cedar sauna, eating fresh vegetables from the garden, and gathering fresh eggs from the hen house. There are 150 acres of woods, pastures, ponds, creeks and trails to explore. The farm has an abundance of wildlife, from white tailed deer and turkey, to song birds. The screened porch is a great place to relax and gather with friends. It has a dining table, a sitting area around the fireplace, and an outdoor kitchen for preparing meals. The fire place was built from stones gathered on the property and was designed for cooking. There is also a wood-fired oven on the porch for baking, and making pizzas. There is Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth compatible speaker system for streaming music. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire farm. Inaccessible areas to guests will be locked. There is a king and queen sized bed in the apartment, but there is also a double in the loft, which is ideal for teenagers. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available at check-in to provide guest orientation, and a farm tour, if desired. We have a traditional kitchen as well as a pizza oven. There is a learning curve to cooking over open fires and using the pizza oven, but that is half the fun. We will be happy to provide tips on cooking over the open fire and the pizza oven. The NeighborhoodWe are only 15 minutes off of I-65 which provides a great stopping point when traveling down to the beach, or after your beach trip heading back north. The neighborhood is rural, very secluded and private. We are at the end of a dead-end road so you cannot see any cars coming or going, nor can they see you! At night all you can see are the stars-- not even another street light. The farm is close to many attractions, but once the gate is closed and locked you might as well be a million miles away from everybody else. Some of our recent Airbnb guests have suggested that we tell future guests to bring groceries when they come, because once they get here, they will not want to leave! Getting AroundThe property is about an hour's drive to the Jack Daniels Distillery, the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, and to Nashville, Tennessee. We will be happy to direct you to these places. The farm itself is very rural and quiet. A perfect location for get-a-ways! Other Things to NoteThe farm is at a dead-end to a dirt road, so there is lots of privacy and seclusion. Only one set of guests are on the property at one time. There is a train that rolls through the valley about a half mile away, but we provide white-noise for sleeping so that it won't be bothersome.

The SpaceOur house is a very uniquely built home that was built by my husband's parents. They added very many special touches. The sunroom provides a great view and is yours to use as shared space. We have a very high deck with great views of the park. We are very close to the downtown area but also close to nature. Guest AccessYou may have access to the entire house except for other bedrooms including kitchen and laundry. A goody basket and drinks will be available for you in the sunroom. You may cook if you like but a breakfast is not provided at this time. Interaction with GuestsMy husband and I love to provide hospitality and have good conversation but if you need quiet, alone time that is great as well. The NeighborhoodOur home is on a bluff overlooking David Crockett State Park which is a great park with many activities. We have an Amish community in Ethridge and the "Hippie Farm" in Summertown which are just a few miles from here. There are wagon rides that take you through Amish country where you can buy local foods and goods. We have several antique shops and consignment shops. Some activities are the Main Street festival, the Bluegrass festival, the James D. Vaughn gospel music festival, David Crockett Days as well as many others. We have accommodations for couples, solo adventurers, groups and business travelers. Getting AroundNo public transportation. Other Things to NoteCreeks, pools, hiking for the outdoor enthusiast. Rest and relaxation for the tired. Small town charm and historical areas. There is a civil war battle field in the county and the famous "Hippie Farm" started by Stephen Gaskin is located in north Lawrence County and is open to visitors. Many other areas of interest.

The SpaceStraight Arrow is in a remote corner of Tennessee, although only 4.5 miles off of I-65, exit 6. It is isolated on a hill with a commanding view. On a county road with very little traffic, you will have quietness during the day and a full sky of stars at night. A Shower House is located within 100 feet with all of the amenities. The tipi has a fire pit inside for cooking, or there is another fire pit outside. There is no electricity or running water at the tipi. This is a serious getaway for lounging or traveling one hour north, south, east or west for hiking, biking or paddling. PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO WIFI SERVICE AND YOUR CELL PHONE MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE SERVICE!!! Guest AccessThis tipi is all one open space, 22 feet in diameter. It will easily sleep 4 people. One air mattress is in the tipi but you will need sleeping equipment for all other guests; i.e. foam pads, thermarests, sleeping bags, etc. Interaction with GuestsI will typically not be available in person to help during the stay. However I would be instantly available via phone for questions or problems. This is a camping experience so you should be comfortable in that type of environment. The NeighborhoodAs noted, this is a remote location. There are a few neighbors and we share a common dirt road. Located on a hill, Straight Arrow has a commanding view. Getting AroundStraight Arrow is located 4.5 miles off of I-65, exit 6. A full service gas station is located here. The nearest town with any services is Ardmore, TN/AL. Yes, the town is divided between the two states. Ardmore is about 20 minutes away, via I-65. Other Things to NoteAs this is an authentic Indian tipi, there is no air conditioning or heating. A nice fan is available to keep the air moving and I have found it satisfactory during the summer.

Straight Arrow is an authentic Apache Indian style tipi. It is 22 feet in diameter and can sleep up to 6. There is a fire pit inside for cooking and a little heat. The paintings on the exterior cover all tell a story in Indian sign language. When I designed the tipi I had to tell the tipi maker what story that I wanted to tell of my life. The inside liner is also painted and tells a story. The door of the tipi also tells a story. The construction of the tipi is incredibly simple and efficient, having been developed over hundreds of years by the Native Americans. The outside Cover and inside Liner work together to provide the draft needed to keep air moving through the interior of the tipi. This supplies ventilation to provide some cooling in the summer, and insulation to provide some warmth in the winter. Equally important is the draft needed for the fire. This will help to keep air on the fire and to keep the smoke going straight up.
