The cabin boasts high end finishes throughout with custom woodwork in the kitchen and dining areas. This large yet cozy home is within walking distance to the Dismal Falls, Appalachian Trail, Flat Top horse trails and all that surrounds, in the Jefferson National Forest. This is the best of both worlds! Finally, you don't have to choose between a great place to trail ride, hike, mountain bike, cycle or adventure ride and a nice place to stay! This lovely three bedroom one bath cabin has every comfort of home. It accommodates it's guests with 1 king, 1 queen, and a bunk bed for the kids! There is also a pull-out sofa bed in the living room if required. The kitchen is fully equipped and linens are provided. The cabin also has a cedar, screened front porch with room enough for everyone to relax and listen to the creek flow by. The cabin, however, is merely a place to rest, it's the outside that has it all to offer. Whether you ride a horse, mountain bike or just like to get out on your own two feet and hike it's all just out the front door, literally. The Appalachian Trail runs parallel to the cabin and is accessible in several areas. The Flat Top Horse Trail System is a combination of forest roads and woodland trails that make up miles and miles of trail riding fun! Unlike the horse camp located a mile or two up the road, this cabin does accept reservations and is not affected by a government shutdown! If you love the trail but also like getting clean and putting your feet up in real comfort and style this is the perfect place for you! The property consists of approximately 2.5 acres and adjoins the Jefferson National Forest in the rear and Dismal Creek (a Virginia fisheries stocked trout stream) runs through the front yard. We offer approximately an acre of cross fenced corral for your horses or long ear friends. We also welcome hunters and fisherman seasonally for world class deer, turkey and bear hunting and trout and bass fishing. Motorcyclists on or on/off road find Bland County a beautiful and exciting place to ride. Come stay with us and explore!

Why the Owner Chose Barren Springs: : We are originally from New Jersey. While vacationing in the New River Valley in 2004 we fell in love with the area. We purchased property on the river in 2005. As this was our second home we rented it as a vacation rental for 3 years before our retirement. In 2009 we moved into our home and began to build a small cabin on the property close to the river. The cabin, which we call Fireflies, is now ready to be enjoyed by vacationers looking for a place to relax. The Unique Benefits of this Cabin: : Year Purchased: 2010 - The cabin sits just above the riverbank and has large windows and two porches that have been designed to enable you to enjoy the abundance of nature. It is common place to see the deer in the early morning and again in the evening. Water birds of many varieties fly up and down the river each day and it is not unusual to see a bald eagle. Owner Description/Comments:: This property is owned by Bill and Kathie Conaway both of whom are retired. Bill and his father spent the last year building the cabin.

Nowadays, there are a thousand different ways to “vacation.” If you break down the word though, “vacation” comes from the Latin “vacare,” which means to be unoccupied. In the rush of the world today, wouldn’t it be nice to just be unoccupied? Grab the family, some friends, and good food and make your way down to the lake! Watch the kids play off the dock while you catch a tan and a cold drink or grab a book and lay back on the covered porch. Bring your boat and spend a day fishing and tubing on the lake Wanting to cool off? Jump in the lake or chill out on the couch and watch a movie. With four private bedrooms, Lazy Lake Landing is perfect for a couples retreat or your family of eight. Immerse yourself in the easy going community and experience just what lake livin’ is all about! Whether it's turning off your phone, enjoying the sunshine, or just spending quality time with the family, remember what its like to be lazy.

Throughout the centuries, people have journeyed to this river in search of nourishment and renewal. To the Native Americans who once roamed these hills, the river held the answers to daily life. As the only river to cut through the entire width of the Appalachian Mountains, the New River has long been prized for it's fishing and recreation. While the fishing is still good here, people are finding something else in this old river these days....peace of mind. Anisidi Lodge has all the comforts to put guests at ease, plus impressive extras. Relax on one of the inviting porches, let your mind wander while you watch the river roll by, or star gaze where you can still see the milky way at night. Whatever adventures may come your way, Anisidi Lodge is the place to be at the end of the day.

Often times when we go on vacation, we're doing more than just going somewhere - we are searching for something. Perhaps what we are searching for is a quiet getaway, a place to relax, somewhere that will put our minds at ease. Maybe we're searching for a new adventure, a place to canoe and hike, or the perfect fishing spot. Sometimes we go on vacation in search of healing, a place where we can rest and replenish our vitality. Vacation isn't always about where we go, it is also about who we are with and the memories we make. Often, we go on vacation in search of a way to bring us closer to the people we care about, a place we'll never forget. Onida, a Native American name meaning "the one searched for," celebrates the significance of vacations. Onida is a cozy waterfront retreat in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. With the serene beauty of the landscape and the inviting ambiance of an indoor fireplace, Onida is a perfect getaway for those searching for rest and relaxation.

"The mountains are calling and I must go..." - John Muir Zaltana is a mountain property along a ridge with access to a commons area on the creek only a 20 minute hike away. The drive into this property from the main road will require you to travel approximately three miles on a well maintained gravel road. Four wheel drive and travel insurance are strongly recommended during winter months. Zaltana, a Native American word meaning "High Mountain," celebrates the gift of serenity and wisdom granted to those who seek solace in the mountain's rising peaks. Mountains offer us a different perspective from which to view the world around us. In much the same way, going to the mountain gives us a fresh perspective on life. Mountains take us to higher levels of awareness. We're able to get away from it all and look around us with new eyes , a renewed sense of wonder , and a higher level of conciousnes . Being up on a mountain gives us the sense of rising above our troubles, of overcoming our limitations. There's no better place to view the stars or take in the vast expanses of land that stretch out across the horizon. Perhaps the mountains fascinate us because they bring us closer to the natural wonders that are often too great to comprehend. Throughout the ages, mountains have been a place of peace - a source of healing and restoration. Today, the mountains continue to draw people to them with their unique ability to nurture and inspire. Zaltana is a private mountain getaway nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. The cabin was designed with the outdoors in mind, the tall windows allow guests to take in the full grandeur of the mountains. The screened porch is the perfect place to relax outside while taking in the fresh mountain air.
