The SpaceNestled far enough above the road that you don't hear traffic and surrounded in native forest, sit on the covered deck and listen to the waves or watch the surfers in the bay while the sun sets. Great place to relax and unwind, with no interruptions from the outside world as it's totally off the grid. Everything you need is waiting for you. Guest AccessThe driveway is steep, the parking area is confined but flat and next to the cabin. You will need to reverse back down the driveway, or ask your host to help. You can walk up and down the driveway with moderate fitness. Interaction with GuestsOne of your hosts will take you to your cabin and show you around. Point out all you need to know and can help with local info. Once you are settled in, your host can be found at the Glassworks or will arrange a time to drop off frozen slickers for your ice box each day if required. The NeighborhoodThe Punakaiki to Fox River drive is one of the most stunning stretches of coastline you will see anywhere in the world. Weither you are into fishing, surfing, beach walking, hiking one of the many tracks, taking the kids to see the Pancake Rocks Blow Holes or maybe you want to lull around in a river swimming hole, check out the Fox River Summer Sunday Markets or find a nice secluded beach for a picnic or just sit on the sandy beach and watch a magical sunset. So much to do here and most of it does not cost a cent. Getting AroundCellphone coverage ends at Punakaiki (10mins) to the south and Charleston (15mins) to the north and our closest larger towns Greymouth (45mins) to the south and Westport (35mins) to the north. The Intercity bus will drop you off at the Market Place if you don't have transport. The famous Trans-Alpine train travels between Christchurch and Greymouth daily also, we can arrange transport to Fox River if needed. Other Things to NoteSandflies... As with any West Coast adventure and you have probably already come across these glam-pires. Most annoying at dusk, then they go to bed. Some people react to their bite, it is advised you try not to scratch and the itch will go away. Kawa kawa leaves rubbed on a bite will also releive the itch.
Water... We have unfiltered, untreated water but recommend bringing drinking water with you. Boiled water is fine. Hot water is provided by a gas califont to the kitchen sink and the outdoor shower.
