The SpaceWelcome to your Costa Rican mountain escape :)
Our home is situated on 10+ acres of stunning view property in one of the most beautiful valleys in the entire country.
Ask the neighbors: the energy around here is infectious!
Upon entering the private gate, you'll probably notice the massive retaining wall to your right, which is known to many in the area as the 'Great Wall'. It eventually opens up to show the rest of our land, most of which sits above the driveway and extends to the top of the small mountain behind the house.
Ample parking is provided under a covered structure.
As you approach the front door, you'll be welcomed by the lush, green lawn and vibrant native flora. My mother has planted various fruit trees around the house, which, of course, will provide fresh offerings for your enjoyment during your stay. The sweet limones are a personal favorite.
The house itself includes a large, open common area with a dining table and living room. We really enjoy the high ceilings and open airflow, which is helped by the several sets of double doors that together can create a very outdoorsy feel, even while inside.
The furniture is all quite new and tailored to be in Costa Rican style with a modern, comfortable twist. The flat screen TV has a DVD player for evening movie nights, and there is WiFi access throughout the house. If you're coming for a longer stay it would be wise to bring a Roku or streaming device (Chromecast, Fire TV, etc)
The kitchen is mostly newly renovated and includes a fairly new propane gas range and oven, sink and island/prep area. Cookware, a blender, a coffee maker, and utensils will be ready for your use.
Each of the bedrooms has a queen sized bed and vast floor space. Really though; this house is very, very open! You'll notice as soon as you step in. We also have another twin bed and frame, as well as a couch that is great for sleeping on.
The bathroom is accessible via each bedroom on either side, and the shower, which is probably as large as most bathrooms in the country, is a walk-in type with tile all around. Washer and dryer are in the back also, and certainly available for your use.
The bus stops right outside of the driveway, which can take you all the way to the beaches (roughly 2 hours), including Manuel Antonio and Jaco, which is the closest. Or, if you're headed back to the city, Puriscal is just over 15 mins away and San Jose approximately an hour.
A short walk (2 min drive) down the hill takes you to a natural spring pool and cute local restaurant. For a fraction of the cost of the same experience in the US, you can enjoy a relaxing day by the pool and a great meal prepared just for you.
We have a great network of friends in the area, and upon booking, we'd be happy to connect you with them. Some examples include: yoga instructors (who may be able to offer private classes), coffee growers, adventure tour operators, eco-resort managers, and even the owner of one of the best cigar plantations/factories in the country.. all just a few minutes away :)
We prefer longer stays, as it is easier to coordinate, and may be able to offer discounts and/or shorter stays depending on the schedule. There is also a chance that we can arrange an airport pickup/dropoff, but it depends on the time of year and our availability.
We truly look forward to making your trip to this wonderful place as enjoyable as possible, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
Pura Vida Guest AccessThe entire house, covered parking area and property.
We ask that if you only need one bed that you stay in the guest bedroom (nearest the garage).
The drawers in the bathroom are off limits, as is the wardrobe in the master. Interaction with GuestsOur employee and friend Kiki will meet you upon your arrival. Please stick to your arrival time and departure time - he has to travel to the property. We (or a friend of ours) may check on the house/property from time to time during extended stays but we will also respect your privacy. The NeighborhoodThe views! The weather is also ideal... Getting AroundThe bus to town goes right by the driveway every hour or two. Another one goes all the way to Quepos each day. Other Things to NoteSometimes the municipality shuts off water to the entire town - when this happens, we (luckily) have reserve water tanks so you aren't left out to dry. We just installed a water pump to alleviate this issue, and it does put out enough pressure to activate the hot water! If you happen to have no hot water for some reason, email me and I'll see if I can have our employee try the main water supply if they've turned it back on - if not - unfortunately the water will be just tap temperature except the solar shower which still may get hot from the sun. This does NOT happen often now that we've installed the pump.
