Built in the early 1880’s , crafted and molded to an architectural style that paid homage to Chettinad , South India, this edifice of outstanding architectural grace, flanked on either side by two ornate, intricately designed towers that have served as landmark in this unique landscape from time immemorial, has been with the same family for over six generations.
Carefully renovated and refurbished over a sustained period in order to maintain the original quality of its architecture, Monsoon Villa is open to guests, invited to enjoy the aesthetic beauty, comfort and privacy available within its spacious confines, resplendent with antique Dutch furniture, which reflects its heritage from a bygone era, as well as a number of modern amenities that include plush bathrooms and a state- of- the- art swimming pool.
With its well equipped kitchen overlooked by a resident chef ,Monsoon Villa provides the delectable flavors of traditional eastern cuisine as well as variety of western cuisine including BBQ’s and specialty sea food dishes of fish ,lagoon Crab , giant prawns, lobster and squid – all using produce from the mornings catch.
Monsoon Villa has 6 air conditioned bedrooms; each holding a large double bed and a single bed. Bathrooms at Monsoon Villa are 7 in number; 6 of them remain un-attached so as to maintain the original aesthetics and architectural integrity of the Villa. These bathrooms renovated to include modern fittings and running hot water; are but a walk away from the bedrooms.
Staff and Drivers quarters are located away from Monsoon Villa, but within calling distance, in order to ensure convenience as well as privacy.

Monsoon Villa is in Puttalam, the largest town in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. A 130km ride from the island’s main airport; the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, Puttalam is a sunny seaside town that engages in fishing, coconut production, salt production and even energy production with the country largest operational power plant - the Noracholai Coal Power Plant located there.
Within driving distance are some of the country's main tourist attractions; the Wilpattu National Park, the Kalpitiya Bay and beach area and the Anuradhapura Town. Standing, as it is, alongside the A3 route that diversifies into the A10 and the A12 that lead to the Central and North Central Province/Northern Provinces respectively, Monsoon Villa is also a convenient stop-over for those travelling to either of those destinations.

*Kalpitya Bay - Dolphins in Kalpitiya
The Kalpitiya Bay and beach area is a famous tourist destination - given the attractive options available there, some of which are whale and dolphin watching, deep sea diving, snorkeling, fishing, kite-surfing, water-skiing and kayaking. The village of Kalpitiya is an hour drive away from Monsoon Villa, however the coastal villages of Noracholai, Alankudah and Kandakuliya that lie en route to Kalpitiya are now renowned whale and dolphin watching sites - a mere 15 to 25 minute drive away.
Wilpattu National Park
A thirty to forty minute drive from Monsoon Villa takes you to Leopard Country; Wilpattu National Park, located approximately 42km to the North of the Villa on the A12 Highway, is the oldest and largest national park in Sri Lanka. The Sanctuary is renowned for its unique water holes called “Villus” and holds several hundred species of flora and fauna that include the leopard, the elephant, the Sambur deer, the Sloth bear, Mugger crocodiles and the Indian python, in addition to countless bird species.
Anuradhapura : An ancient capital / Kingdom of Sri Lanka
One of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, the city of Anuradhapura holds ruins of a bygone civilization in the form of several dagobas or dome shaped monastic buildings, pokuna or tanks and ponds and (email hidden) tree (ficus religiosa) believed to have been planted in 245 BC.
