The SpaceHi there, we're a homestay option a few hours from machu Picchu and a great place to start or end your journey to the Inca Ruins. We have already had some fantastic airbnb guests this year. We're also almost done with some important renovations....first exciting news HOT SHOWER! Yes, we're excited too. Also, we've got two doubles and a new single room almost finished so we can make repairs on the other buildings. This room is for 1 person and is private. Facilities: outdoor bar, campsite with adobe oven and a grill. Hammocks, two rivers, our farm to explore, roast your own coffee or chocolate. Eat with the family, speak some Spanish and all a few hours walk from Machu Picchu. Package deals for Dinner, bed and breakfast. We're constantly renovating and upgrading our garden and facilities. Recently we added a new grill up at the main house and we're about to start work on a new toilet block right next to the original guest rooms. The plunge pool still hasn't happened....we'll get there eventually. A stay with us is a rare and individual experience of Peruvian family life in the countryside where most people make their living from agriculture. We are nestled down by the river in a stunning valley with waterfalls and tributaries winding their way through the tropical vegetation. We have optional workshops such as coffee and cocoa roasting for you to take away some of your own organic presents for friends and family; and there is the chance to take local walks and visit our farm and see how locals experience this landscape. Essentially, a stay with us is what you want it to be. We may just be a convenient stopping-off point or perhaps a chance for you to experience living in a place cut-off from the main arteries of Peruvian tourism. Whatever your reasons for visiting we're sure you'll love it here. Guest AccessAccess to main house, shared common room and bathroom from room. Gardens, dining room, patio and the forest beyond. Interaction with GuestsWe are always somewherre near and love to chat but we're equally aware that some people want to relax and just read without being disturbed. We're happy to be as visible or invisible as you want and there's plenty of space if that's what you need. Just let us know :) The NeighborhoodOur area is really what's left of a once thriving community devastated by floods in 1998 and 2010. It's remote, peaceful, full of tropical plants and a real change for most of our guests. We have few neighbours but a lot of lovely things to see, nice walks and the opportunity to switch off from the world (no phone or internet). Getting AroundThere are taxis which pass on the main road 15 minutes above the house but no traffic around the property which makes for a relaxing stay. If you like walking you can even go by foot to the hot spring in Santa Teresa (May to November best) in under 2 hours. Other Things to NoteWe're farmers so sometimes we're not at the house and we don't always have a chance to get to internet to check emails. We have on occasion found people waiting for us at the house after a day on the farm and luckily everyone has been wonderful about it, but we do ask you to make sure you let us know your rough time of arrival so we're there to meet you :)

The SpaceHi there, we're a homestay option a few hours from machu Picchu and a great place to start or end your journey to the Inca Ruins. Room 4 is for 1 or 2 people (couple) and is private. It has a double bed in it but if you're not sharing with that special person then we have other rooms available. This room is a little cheaper than the others as it doesn't have a window, but all of our guests spend most of their time outdoors so we hope you also enjoy your stay. The bathroom for this room and room 5 (our triple) is next to the main house and has a hot shower, it's not far at all and sits under an orange tree. Most people spend their time exploring. Hammocks, two rivers, our farm to explore, roast your own coffee or chocolate. Eat with the family, speak some Spanish and all a few hours walk from Machu Picchu. The price of your room includes Dinner, bed and breakfast. We have optional coffee and chocolate roasting workshops for those who are interested. We're constantly renovating and upgrading our garden and facilities. Recently we added a new grill up at the main house and we're about to start work on a new toilet block right next to the original guest rooms. The plunge pool still hasn't happened....we'll get there eventually. We may just be a convenient stopping-off point or perhaps a chance for you to experience living in a place cut-off from the main arteries of Peruvian tourism. Whatever your reasons for visiting we're sure you'll love it here. Guest AccessThe main house, the patio areas, the gardens, the kitchen. We're an open house really, we hope you feel comfortable during your stay with us. Interaction with GuestsWe live here too so we're around to help you out if you wish but we won't impose if you feel like doing your own thing. We eat with our guests and often end up in the kitchen before meals are ready talking. We love meeting our guests and finding out about their lives but we would always respect your privacy if you just wanted to relax on your own. The NeighborhoodMy wife was born in this town and it has undergone some huge changes in the past few decades. Floods have destroyed most of the town, leaving only our area and a few houses. The old town lies on the cliffs above the river and it's an interesting walk down by the shore. The family has lived and farmed here for generations so there's a lot of local knowledge and we're happy to share what we know with our guests. Getting AroundWe're remote but if you walk up to the main road (10 minutes) you can catch a taxi to either Santa Maria or Santa Teresa. There's a fantastic walk along the river to the hot springs at cocalmayo (90 minutes) which can be done May - November. Other Things to NoteWe're not a hotel, our accommodation is comfortable and unique and we're surrounded by the forest and wildlife. There are dogs, chickens, ducks and other livestock in and around the village and there is only one tiny shop. A stay with us is definitely to escape the crowds and unplug for a while.

We are an option for people who love avoiding the usual tourist crowds. We're not a fancy hotel or hostel, we're a family-run homestay set in the Peruvian Cloud Forest not far from Machu Picchu. Perked your interest? We find our guests are usually a little more adventurous and want to experience something off the beaten path. We have had people from all walks of life but absolutely all of them have been wonderful, open, interesting people. Our home is simple and our three guest rooms open out onto the garden. Each room has an internal door to a small, shared living space that connects to the bathroom. The property is surrounded on all sides by mountains and lush, tropical vegetation. Hummingbirds and exotic plants are all around you and the sounds of the river, local wildlife and insects is humming away in the background. Our family have farmed here for generations and we take guests to the farm on workshop tours from time to time. We offer coffee and chocolate roasting workshops too and cook delicious meals every day in our kitchen. Most people come half board with dinner and breakfast included and we now offer full board with lunch too. Our farm produces coffee, chocolate and a whole range of delicious tropical fruits. What we can't grow we get from neighbours or local markets and we love to eat well. As we're farmers we're often busy but we can always make time for our guests so let us know what you're interested in doing and book up a workshop with your stay. We only recently (Feb 2016) got a basic desktop-based internet connection (no WiFi) so you can get in touch with people but we're pretty old school still with technology so you won't find smartphone zombies wandering around on their touchscreens. We hope you're one of the countless lovely, interesting people we've had to stay and that you will come and find us and share your stories with us. We'd love to meet you.
