We also like to share evening camp fires with our guests where applicable. The NeighborhoodLocated 200 miles west of Williams Lake and 100 miles east of Bella Coola, we offer the perfect place in the West Chilcotin to relax and unwind. Nimpo Lake is well known for its amazing fighting native rainbow trout that will always let you know there's something at the end of your line. This is also a calm lake with numerous bays that provide for great canoeing or kayaking. There are several local trails nearby that make for great walking or more rigorous hiking if you prefer. Getting AroundIf you plan on staying for a few days you'll find this area offers lots to keep you busy! Take a flightseeing trip with one of two charter floatplane operators, one just across the bay from us, where you can see some of Tweedsmuir Park's most famous landmarks such as Hunlen Falls from the air. Pacific Coastal airlines lands at Anahim Lake and in Bella Coola so you can easily access either community from Vancouver. Other Things to NoteWe are fortunate to be located in the middle of a true wilderness that still supports a large wildlife population of caribou, moose, deer, bear, wolf, coyote, wolverine and numerous other fur bearing animals so bring your camera! The SpaceThe space sleeps two adults only and is the private loft of our workshop. We respect your privacy in it during the evenings and mornings but it is an active workspace; we may need to use the lower floor during the day. You share the shower/clawfoot bath in the cottage but there is a separate toilet and sink in the workshop. The shower is behind a curtain, not a wall. Petty Catwater is 22 km from town and since there are no cooking facilities in the loft, we also offer meals prepared to your requests. Dinner can be anything from the simplest "Just a sandwich, please" to a three-course spread with a matching wine. We are unplugged: no television, no cellular service. Our continental breakfast is included in the booking fee: fresh juice, toast, homemade granola, yogurt and homemade preserves. Special hot breakfasts are also offered at extra cost. Also included are complimentary tea, water and juices in the space plus a carafe of great coffee delivered to you in the morning. All meals are served in the cottage dining room. Check our reviews; look at the pictures; our meals can be fabulous or simple but are always memorable and always all-inclusive. We strive to serve fresh, local and from our garden whenever we can. Tell us the meals you want when you book. We are happy to be in the middle of nowhere and know that does not mean you must do without. Guest AccessGuests essentially have the run of the property and now, with summer bursting, there is so much more to enjoy. There are a half dozen or more quiet outdoor spaces equipped for reading and relaxing. If you want to dine alfresco, we have a lovely deck for that elegant, intimate dinner or a slate-tiled patio with a fire pit for a hot dog extravaganza. Take a casual ramble on the trails that crisscross the property or hike one of the many public trails nearby. You may borrow our snowshoes but bring your cross country skis and bicycles. Interaction with GuestsOur style is to treat everyone as if they were long-time, honoured friends; we think that everyone, regardless of who they are or how they have traveled, deserves some luxury. As this is our home we will always be on the property while you stay; if you have any questions or need anything, we are available 24/7. A lot of the reason we decided to offer this space came from our love of good food and our enjoyment in preparing it, sharing it and serving it to friends. You can always count on something leagues ahead of highway fare and way more memorable. Most nights we sit down to dinner together, farm table style. All meals are chef's choice but, so far, we have been successful in matching guests' special needs. The extra cost of meals is all inclusive: waters, breads, appys, main and dessert. The cost is always fair and far less than you would expect to pay at a decent restaurant. A decent wine or a craft beer is usually included in our dinners. We are not averse to letting you share in the cost of second or third bottle either. Dining here is not a requirement but, if you count food as part of life's pleasures, you will always have something to score (plus or minus) instead of forgetting when you leave. The NeighborhoodWe live in a rural setting with a couple vacation properties as neighbours. Most of the time we are the only ones at the end of our beautiful country road...after years in the city we love the quiet and the natural beauty here. Note however, that we are about 10 minutes drive from the nearest restaurant/convenience store/liquor outlet. We are 20 minutes or more from town and full service. Ours would be a perfect place to take a break in the long drive between way down there and way up beyond wherever (or visa-versa.) Maybe you can rest-up before or after doing the Bowron canoe circuit or the Mackenzie trail. Or as many have done, come for a couple nights as respite from the rest of your life. Getting AroundIn most cases, your own transport is essential. There is no bus service or other public transit. If you are coming to experience one or more of the unique features of our region, we can arrange to pick you up at the airport at a small extra cost. There is no mobile phone service here but you can use our satellite line for important calls (or drive 10km to find mobile service.) Other Things to NoteThere is no mobile phone or broadcast television service at our property. The offered space is not suitable for long term rental. We would need to discuss situations if you are looking for more than three or four days. Our home and the offered space are not suitable for children. We offer an adult friendly environment. The space is not suitable for those who would have difficulty climbing a flight of stairs.
