The SpaceLocated in district 11 (approximately 20' driving to the heart of the city; 7' driving to Cholon also known as HCMC's Chinatown), our three-storey villa (we don't count ground floor as first storey) is within an alley far off the main road. It's therefore an ideal place for people, especially light sleepers, who want to stay at a quiet place after a busy, tiring day exploring the city that is notorious for its furious traffic and noise.
Your room is on the second floor - the only room on this floor. Therefore, you will have complete privacy and security - things we greatly respect. No elevator - your body will appreciate the stair workout though (look up "The Ultimate Staircase Workout For Serious Fitness Gains" online).
We have a courtyard packed with all sort of greeneries that you have complete access to and can view from your room window. Speaking of windows, the floor and room are well-lit with big ones for natural light. It's perfect for people who have a "green" lifestyle and enjoy fresh air!
The closest market (our personal favorite - called Cho Binh Thoi), where fresh seafood, meat, veggies, fruits and all grocery items a human being would normally ever need are sold all day, is less than 2' walking from our house.
The closest amusement park including a water park (dubbed by locals as HCMC's Disneyland - called Dam Sen Park) is less than 3' driving from our house. Although it's nowhere as fancy as Disneyland, if you want to find out what an amusement park in a developing country is like then Dam Sen Park is where you should visit.
The closest shopping mall (also our personal favorite - called Parkson Flemington) is less than 6' driving from our house. Another one (Hung Vuong Plaza) is a little over 10' driving. Guest AccessComplete access to a dedicated bathroom inside room with hot shower (we doubt you will ever need it in the city's constant hot weather), private courtyard, kitchen, 2 dining tables (one in kitchen and one at courtyard), air-conditioner, washing machine, refrigerator, TV inside room, Wifi connection in the entire house (we have fast fibre optic connection). Interaction with GuestsI - your host - am a University of Technology, Sydney graduate. I've been living, studying and working in Sydney, Australia since 2008 and often go back to Vietnam to help run/organise family business. Not to sound arrogant, but I'm very positive that I can speak English fluently and confidently because it's always been my most-liked subject everywhere I study at and favorite language to communicate.
Having introduced myself, I'm very confident that I understand a foreign visitor's needs, wants and expectations very well. Thanks to all my time living in Australia and being influenced by Western education system and lifestyle, I've developed a habit of respecting and being willing to discover foreign cultures and their belief and values. Besides, having foreign teachers, friends, bosses and colleagues definitely helps.
Obviously you will have instant assistance and suggestions from me and my family members if you need them as we all will be living in the same house. Personally, while respecting our country's culture as always, I'm heavily influenced by and interested in Western entertainment such as urban music, movies, sports, modern fashion, etc. - pretty much everything you would expect a boy in his 20s to like. Having said that, if you happen to like hip-hop music, Manchester United, action movies, sportswear, and sneakers, then it's very likely that we'll have some good conversations very naturally and easily. If you don't, I still have other things and topics to chitchat with you about (because I watch the news and surf the internet too :).
Bonus: I'm more than happy to help if you have any technical computer/laptop/smartphone/mobile internet etc. problems during your stay as I consider myself a pretty good tech troubleshooter. I can also provide you with latest music and movies upon request - and not like iTunes, I'm not charging you anything :) The NeighborhoodIf you ever wished where you live could be conveniently surrounded by literally hundreds of grocery stores, restaurants, morning/late night street stalls selling everything from cold beer, ice-cream to grilled snails and other finger food, sidewalk cafes, trendy coffee shops, etc. - then welcome to our very local neighborhood! You will bump into one of those every 10m you walk and be greeted and served by some of the most blissful, friendliest and unreserved people on this planet.
To impress you even more, some of our local restaurants and street stalls selling com tam (broken rice with grilled pork chop), hu tieu (rice noodle with pork stock and toppings), pho bo (beef noodle soup ), mi vit tiem (special duck egg-noodle soup), bun thit nuong (vermicelli with marinated char-grilled pork), bot chien (pan-fried scrambled egg rice cake), banh mi (Vietnamese pork roll), banh bao (steamed meat pun), che (Vietnamese sweet beverage, dessert soup or pudding), etc. are so good they usually sell out completely 1 to 3 hours after opening. Getting AroundOur guests will find transportation easy and fun as all public transports are available nearby (from buses, cabs down to motorcycle taxies).
If asked, we are more than happy to show you how to rent a motorcycle/bicycle from reputable stores that we personally trust. Other Things to NoteWe're against confusion and miscommunication, so feel free to ask us as many questions as you want before your arrival and/or during your stay. We will try our best to answer as clearly as possible.
We can provide guests with electronic travel kit, useful links, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map directions to popular spots, language tips, dining/shopping/attraction suggestions based on our own knowledge and experience, good eating/shopping discounted gift certificates from websites such a(URL HIDDEN)(Vietnamese version o(URL HIDDEN)m), etc. upon request - before and/or during your stay.
If you stay with us anytime between now and late February, we will proudly serve you some super sweet sapodilla fruits as our own tree is currently producing (Picture will be updated soon).
