The SpaceThis beautiful farm is owned by four close friends who share an ecological, agricultural, communal, and artistic vision. This recently refurbished farmhouse provides basic and humble accommodations for guests seeking a rustic experience. This is not for those seeking a hotel experience. This pre-civil war cabin provides a basic accommodation that can sleep up to 8. There are two light-filled bedrooms each with queen beds, a living room with futon and large couch, and an attic room with a single bed and writer's desk. The kitchen is fully equipped. Central heat and AC. This is an excellent place for a reunion of family or friends. Or a great place for solitary time for your art or writing project. Explore the land considered some of the most beautiful in Virginia. Adjacent to the famous Rapidan river and at the foot of historic Clarks Mountain. Wildlife includes deer, foxes, groundhogs, snakes, coyotes, and a once-spotted black bear (but completely safe). Great bird habitat for amateur ornithologists! 13 acres of the property are in a USDA conservation program to support native habitat and restore the Rapidan river watershed. On the property is an old farm house ("the casita") constructed with hand-hewn, half-log pine beams. Also a chicken coup and former smoke house. Enjoy the fire pit, relax on the front porch with wicker chairs, watch the sun set through the grand black walnut trees. Guest AccessGuests have the whole farm to themselves! Please close any gates behind you as cattle graze the property sometimes. The Neighborhood5 minutes to tiny Rapidan. 10 minutes to quaint and historic town of Orange with restaurants, groceries, shopping. 15 minutes from Culpeper, with everything you need. 1.5 hours / 80 miles from DC. Getting AroundFree parking. Other Things to NoteNo internet but good cell service. Dishwasher and microwave are not currently working. Please take trash with you to the local dump (directions will be provided). If this is a problem/inconvenient (it is closed Wednesday), you can leave the trash in the house, but please let me know. Else unwanted critters could get into the house!
