The SpaceThere are two screened porches on this home, front and back with large hall connecting them. Downstairs is the master bedroom with high ceilings, working fireplace, and space heater if needed during winter.
Downstairs is another bedroom with a twin bed, high ceilings, fireplace, and space heater if needed during winter. Both of these bedrooms access the same bathroom.
Upstairs is a large open room with two queen sized beds and one double.
There is only one bathroom located downstairs which houses the typical old-type footed tub, old small sink, new commode and space heater.
The kitchen is large, fully stocked with pots, pans, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, small electric oven, and a Chambers' Gas Stove. A sitting room is adjacent. There is a formal dining room, formal living room, both with high ceilings and fireplaces. Guest AccessYou will have full access, use of this quaint home. To appreciate the location and amenities, you should plan on staying at least two nights, three days. A tour to acquaint you with the 500 acre property, should you decide to hike or bike the hills and hollows, will be given at an extra cost. This is the home to relax and get away from it all...if you want party, fun, ease of dining out, this is not it unless you want to travel to Vicksburg (30 minutes) or Jackson, (30 minutes). No television is available, no wifi. Cell phone reception is spotty.
You are safe as can be because you are in the middle of nowhere. But be reminded that smoking is not allowed within the home or on the premises due to fire hazards.
Temperature wise during the summer, the downstairs stays comfortable with the doors open and the fans on, but the upstairs is warmer during the summer. Fans are located throughout the home to circulate air. Note, NO traditional air conditioning is available. This is an OLD HISTORIC HOME.
The home has tremendous charm, is very picturesque and furnished. Bring an ice-chest for ice. Enjoy! Fishing is available but you can only keep what you filet and eat. Otherwise, catch and release. A john boat and motor is available as well. This pond is located about a 5 minute walk from the home. A grill is located on the property but cannot be moved from it's location due to insurance policy. Interaction with GuestsI, or another responsible person, will greet you upon your arrival to acquaint you with the property. Someone responsible will be available by cell phone should you need anything or have questions during your stay. A bed and breakfast type buffet can be provided upon request with a charge of six dollars per person. This property is private, no other guests will be allowed if booked by you. The NeighborhoodThis home is located within an area known for second homes or hunting lodges. Most are situated on large acreages, as this home is. Access is granted through a locked gate and gravel road. The code is 3518 and should be locked while staying on property and upon departure. This gravel road is only accessed by me and my guests, and one other family. The gate is manually closed after entering. The home is very private. Getting AroundYou are 30 minutes from Jackson, 30 minutes from Vicksburg, Mississippi.
A gas station and deli is 15 minutes away at an exit called "Bolton." The property is only accessible by hiking or mountain biking. A Polaris tour may be arranged for an added cost. Other Things to NoteThe property features hills and hollows with many logging roads criss-crossing. It is private, but bow and gun hunting does occur during the deer season, October through February. You, as a renter, may not bring firearms. You may be required to stay within certain boundaries of the property if rented during the hunting season and required to wear a provided orange vest when outside. The scenery is peaceful, natural. Rocking on one of the two screen porches is a must. There is an outside kennel for dogs.
