The SpaceSituated on 10 forested acres on the Hinesburg-Richmond town line, our home offers the peace and tranquility of the sparsely populated Vermont countryside and yet is only a short drive to many northern Vermont attractions. Only 25 minutes from the colleges, theaters, museums and restaurants in Burlington, within an hour from over 25 breweries, cider houses and wineries and within 45 minutes from Sugarbush, Stowe, Bolton Valley, Smugglers Notch and Montpelier, we are ideally situated. We have a large garden where we try to grow as much of our food as we can and we also raise a few animals, mostly pigs and ducks, each summer. The back 10 acres of our property contains trails that are great for hiking, biking or snowshoeing and we have an outdoor fire pit for those crisp Vermont evenings. Guest AccessOur home offers two comfortable bedrooms and one bathroom as well as an office that can accommodate additional guests if necessary. Guests will have access to our fridge, grill and whatever kitchen appliances they need during their stay and there is a washer/dryer that can be made available as well. Interaction with GuestsWe can have as much or as little interaction as our guests would like. We prepare most of our meals at home and we would gladly welcome you to our table if you so choose. I (Chris) am an avid skier and if you have any questions or would like to accompany me (usually to Sugarbush) I would be happy to give you a ride. Alissa has a deep connection to the local agricultural economy and can help recommend a number of restaurants and establishments that source locally. We both enjoy hiking around the Greens and relaxing at the great swimming holes and if the weather is right you’re welcome to join us on one of those adventures as well. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is relaxing and quiet, and during the summer when the trees are filled in our yard and house are completely secluded from our neighbors. We are located just 1 mile down the road from Sleepy Hollow XC and Mountain Bike Center, Audubon Vermont and the Birds of Vermont Museum. Lake Iroquois with its boat ramp and beach is just 5 minutes away, the Huntington River has great swimming and fishing holes and is located just a few miles down the road, and shopping and several excellent restaurants are within 10 minutes. Getting AroundCar is the the best mode of transportation though we are happy to give you a ride to the Richmond park and ride if you want to take a bus to any of the larger towns/cities. Travel times: 30 Minutes from the Burlington airport, Downtown Burlington and Waterbury. 45-60 minutes from Bolton Valley, Smuggs, Stowe, Sugarbush and Montpelier. 3:30 from Boston or Hartford 5 hours from NYC Other Things to NoteWe have also planned out cider and beer tours around the state that we can take you on if you and your group are interested. Connected to this cabin by a breeze way, is a newer post and beam home with master bedroom, twin bedroom, sleeping loft with queen and double beds, fold out couch in basement, and a full bath (10 sleeping spots total). The NeighborhoodScott and Cynthia live at the entrance to the property and Sue Morse, a wildlife biologist, lives on another house on the property, but out of view of the house/cabin you will be renting. Within a 10 minuted drive is a classic Vermont country store in Jericho Center. Getting AroundYou will need your own car and in the winter all wheel drive is recommended. Other Things to NoteOne possible drawback for some might be a nearby Vermont National Guard range that produces occasional noise from small arms and other military exercises. The Space• Large, funky, comfortable home on 10 acres in rural/small town Vermont, 30 minutes from Burlington. Beautiful setting, accommodates many, unique character. • 4 bedrooms (queen bed, double bed, single bed, 2 single bunk beds) • 1 office/additional bedroom (another queen bed) • 2 bathrooms (one has large bathtub/shower; one is just sink and toilet) • Open floor plan with living room/kitchen connected • Geodesic dome with addition • Wifi, land line, 2 office spaces (these double as "guest" rooms with double/queen beds in them). • ***Please note that this is our personal residence; we leave all our furniture, linens, cookware, tools, books, etc. for renter to use, and our personal coats, clothing, etc. are around. This is our way of saying that our place feels much more like a lived-in home than a hotel. As we live with a bunch of young'ns, this is a great place for those with children, and those who understand that life with children is not pristine :) We keep it clean and tidy but this is definitely not a Crate and Barrel showroom. :) *** Also, we live in the woods, so the reality is that sometimes we see a mouse or an ant in our home! :) • Great place for kids of all ages, indoors and outs. • Large play room/rec room. • Washer/dryer; laundry lines indoors and outside. • Propane cook stove/oven and on demand hot water. • Casual décor; mostly rough-cut wood walls, hardwood floors, bedrooms have carpets. • Solar electricity, and we're also tied into the electric grid. • Well water, potable, good pressure, on-demand hot water system. • Big deck, grass yard, vegetable gardens, shed, play structure with swings/slides/sandbox. • Richmond is a town of 5000, great community, grocery store, hardware store, gas station, farmers market, library, playground, great restaurants, bakery etc. That's 3 miles from us. • Stream runs through our property with small, beautiful waterfall, great for dipping and play. • Located about 20 miles from Burlington and 25 miles from Montpelier. • Closest big city is a 2 hour drive to Montréal. • Located super close to Bolton Valley Ski area (15 min drive) and close to lots of others—Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, etc. (and a 4 minute drive to Cochran's tiny ski area right in our town!) • Hiking/xc skiing trails out the back door. • High speed internet connection with wifi. • For monthly rental: All utilities included (i.e. plowing, wifi, wood heat, electric, propane, hot water, land line, etc.) • For winter rental -- we have a new, state of the art wood fired boiler that is easy to operate, heats the house evenly, and comes with a woodshed full of wood! • We have a video showing how to fire up the boiler. Guest AccessAccess to full house and 10 acres of land. Other Things to NoteHere are some other reviews that guests shared with us, but were unable to post to airbnb because the allowed time lapsed): "Your house was ideal for our family vacation. Huge, charming, clean, and unique house, with everything you can wish for. Beautiful area, great location. Heaven on Earth! Thank you for everything, and I would certainly recommend your place to everyone :)" (Family of 5 visiting from abroad) "The house was magical. It had quirky rooms, art, activities, outdoor spaces everywhere. It was comfortable and welcoming. A great place to bring my family for the weekend." (Extended family of 5 visiting from NJ/VT)
