Cave Hill Log Cabin is a hewn log cabin built before the Civil War, painstakingly restored by local Adams County craftsmen. The solid rock fireplace was crafted by hand using locally quarried stone. The massive rafters exposed in the loft were sawn from poplar logs in a local Amish sawmill. The interior paneling is 14 to 16 inch wide white pine boards supplied by Patty’s family lumberyard. The roof is hard slate salvaged from the house in Cincinnati where George grew up. Check out our 3-D Virtual Tour of the Log Cabin at cavehillcabins. It gives you a really good idea of what to expect. We re-built the cabin at the edge of a little field behind our historic log barn, tucked away in a clearing by itself like a pioneer cabin would be. Surrounded by woods on 3 sides and the old barn on the 4th, it’s in its own world. Your first view of the cabin, coming around the old log barn, will transport you to another place and time. Attached to the antique log home is a new lean-to with a modern kitchen and bath. Hidden behind the ancient logs are electricity, heating and air conditioning. The cabin smells of fresh cut pine boards. One of our first guests said: "We absolutely fell in love with your cabin and the feeling and experience it gave us. Along with the woods surrounding it. You all have done an incredible job capturing the look and feel of an original cabin, yet keeping all the necessities and amenities we are accustomed to. I just can't say enough good things about this lovely place. We just loved it!! A few added touches that I loved were the sconces, the little lamp in the bathroom, all the little candles and candle holders throughout the first floor. They all brought an added romantic side to the cabin." The SpaceFor those wanting "off the grid nature experience" We recommend you be... 1. A Nature lover 2. Seeks time away from technology 3. Loves Wildlife and does not mind critters. The tree house is in the middle of the woods you will encounter them! 4. Loves adventure and the path unknown 5. Loves freedom and considers themselves self-sufficient. 6. Can live without electricity or running water. (These are in the shower house and we do have drinking water in the Tree House) 7. You can use the generator for air and electricity.(However, we do not recommend it) The Tree house is our dream come true. I wanted a treehouse since I was 10 years old. I believed it would bring me peace. I would play in the woods with my siblings imagining this treehouse ...bordering it with small branches, using rocks as our furniture and moss as our carpet. I never let go of having this space and thought about it often. When Bill and I started our dream company EarthJOY Tree adventures in 2007. Whereas we take clients to the top of trees on ropes. As part of this venture we wanted to give them another experience. Why not be able to stay in a treehouse too?? We set off to take Pete Nelsons LEARN HOW TO BUILD A TREEHOUSE in 2005 workshop. After the workshop we looked high and low for the perfect property to have this dream come true. We ran into many obstacles one being not able to afford it or not the right trees. When we saw Pete on Animal planet I thought I would just apply for the fun of it. We didn't even have a place. When they called and accepted our application I called Dad. I asked him if we could build a treehouse on his 200 acre farm. He laughed and then said YES! He said he was tired of running two farms and his dream of having a huge cattle farm would just have to be turned into building a few treehouses. Animal Planet wanted to share this story and hence our episode is famous and called "THE KENTUCKY CLIMBERS COTTAGE" You can still watch it on Treehouse Masters or on Youtube December of 2014 marks the year my childhood dream finally came true. Not only do I mark off time to enjoy my treehouse myself.. I also set aside time for my Womens workshops and our treeclimbing clients. They not only have an incredible experience via a guided tree climb they also get the full immersion of being held by 10 trees in a TREEHOUSE! Over and over again we heard how the magic of the treehouse totally rejuvenated stressed souls so last year we decided to open it up to others and put it on air b&b The adventure begins on the journey to the treehouse. As you wind your way through the beautiful back roads you can stop over at Augusta for a romantic dinner and a walk along the Ohio River. The treehouse is secluded and tucked in the woods so you feel like you are off the grid. It has a propane grill inside for simple meals and a gas grill outside for more elaborate meals. A barn door will open from the treehouse so you can bring the outside in. Peaceful lounging is created inside either on modular couch or seated hammock. Outside you have patio furniture with big umbrella or take a nap in the hammock next to a roasting fire. If cold we have an indoor fireplace! This is our personal favorite and the bed upstairs is king size with memory foam mattress. Enjoy one of clients favorites...A mindful hike. You are self-guided via various inspiring door in trees and other path markers. People get answers on this trail to the questions about their life. Receive a idea/prayer or take a prayer along this mystical trail. Be sure to watch the story behind the treehouse on Animal Planet -The Kentucky Climbers Cottage Guest AccessAs a guest, there are 200 acres below the treehouse to explore ! They all brought an added romantic side to the cabin." The SpaceCave Hill Log Cabin is a hewn log cabin built before the Civil War, painstakingly restored by local Adams County craftsmen. They all brought an added romantic side to the cabin." Sleeps 4 guests (in a king bed and two twins in the open loft). Pet friendly. Your dog will enjoy romping and exploring the woods and fields surrounding the cabin. One bathroom with shower. Amenities. My place is close to family-friendly activities, public transport, and restaurants and dining. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the outdoors space, the neighborhood, the comfy bed, and the light. My place is good for couples, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.
