Art House B & B is a quiet, sunny and modern one-room studio suite in a garden and forest setting on a half acre property in Roberts Creek. Newly-designed and renovated by world-class artist and displaying his unique artwork, Art House B & B has its own private entrance and is comfortably furnished in a modern, minimalist style, offering comfort surrounded by garden and forest. Slate tile bathroom, brand new queen size bed with pillow top mattress, private deck, deck chair and free WiFi. A snack kitchen with mini-fridge, microwave, coffee /tea service (coffee: one of a variety of quality beans: locally roasted, organic, fair-trade french-press coffee). Yoga mats upon request. Small children are welcome at no extra charge if no additional linens are required. Five minutes to beach, hiking, bicycling, & Heart of the Creek (restaurants, stores). Many guests have told us how peaceful and quiet it is here in Roberts Creek, at Art House, and how beautiful. Our B & B is central to 'The Gumboot Nation' of Roberts Creek and a 5 minute drive from an absolute gem of a wild place: Cliff Gilker Park. In summer there are lots of activities: public participatory art projects such as The Mandala, Creek Daze at the end of August, a farmer's market on Sundays in the heart of the creek. The beach is within walking distance - and everyone is friendly. In fall and spring we have Roberts Creek Arts Festival (spring) and Art Crawl (fall). Coast wide there are lots of other activities, festivals, musical events, theatrical, spoken word and artist studio visits. There's also lots of hiking and kayaking in a variety of bodies of water, straits, inlets, lakes. At $116 (Cdn$) per night, our rate INCLUDES 2 complimentary glasses of wine at The Gumboot Garden upon arrival, plus daily coffee. We have enjoyed delighting our guests with our continental breakfast since we opened, 3 years ago. But not everyone wants breakfast. For those who do, our continental breakfast can be ordered @ an additional $7.50 for one, $15 for two. Breakfast = your choice of croissants, cinnamon bun, or granola plus hard-boiled eggs and seasonal fruit  & tea or coffee (with milk / cream & sugar) . Breakfast on request can be ordered to taste and paid for upon arrival. Every year we invest in improving the suite. Last year, we installed a frosted glass-and-wood door at the entrance to the bathroom. Our open concept with visible slate tile shower gave way to a more complete separation and additional privacy. The door really adds a nice look to the interior of the suite, and there's more space to hang towels on the back of the door. This year, we will install screens on the bedroom windows and add new pillows. Our rate of $118 per night includes a pot of steaming fair-traded coffee in the morning plus complimentary wine for two at The Gumboot. Tea is available in the suite. You can request continental breakfast for an additional $15 cash upon arrival. Must be ordered ahead. Choice of either granola (Wheatberries) or a cinnamon bun (from the Gumboot), coffee or tea, milk, sugar, fruit and two hard boiled eggs. That's $7.50 per person and I will deliver it to the room at an agreed-upon time. We do not take pets. However, if you have stayed at ART HOUSE SUITE with your pet, you are welcome to come again. Just mention that you've been a previous guest, and well host you and your pet again. Pet conditions: $12/ per day cash upon arrival per dog. You must bring your own dog bed; We ask that your dog not sleep or go on the bed at all. If your dog is accustomed to sleeping with you on your bed, you must bring a pet carrier for night sleep; dogs must not be left in suite at any time; you must clean up after your pet as you would in the city with 'beamer' bags tied and deposited into the garbage can in the driveway. If your dog barks, you may be asked to leave. No refund will be given in the event of this. Roberts Creek is a small town by the sea on the west coast of British Columbia in a place called The Sunshine Coast. We're surrounded by forest and garden. Winding roads retain the rural feel -- but the Sunshine Coast has every amenity a big city has: restaurants, shops, banks, drug stores, a hospital, vets, coffee shops, tennis courts, even a state of the art rec center where you can play hockey, squash and racquetball. It's serene and beautiful here - a great place to get away. Lots of activities: hiking, swimming, bicycling and just touring the beautiful locale.

The SpaceHigh end home available for rental. Most homes of the calibre are not rentable. We only rent when the house is not being used by us or immediate family. During the summer months, we will rent for about 3-4 weeks. Renting the main house and the guest house to separate guests just does not work. So, if you are renting the main house, then the guest house will either be empty or it will be available for your use. House is ideal for corporate retreats, strategic planning, family reunions, or just larger family vacation. We no longer allow weddings at the property. The house, the septic tank, and the neighbours do not like to see 50-75 people congregating at or around the house. Please do not ask for short term rentals, we do not entertain them. Guest AccessEverythng except the areas that are locked: pantry, and half of each closet in each bedroom. Interaction with GuestsWhile the guests are at the house, we are available via cellular phone. Caretaker nearby will keep an eye on the property and support the guests if needed. The NeighborhoodVery quiet family oriented beach. The property is away from the highway and right on the beach, so it is very quiet, except for the sea lions flapping around at night time, and eagles going back and forth from a tree top nearby. A grey whale could actually be heard in August 2015, it was about 50 meters from shore. Getting AroundBuses are about 150 meters from the house. Otherwise, a car is needed. Other Things to NoteThe beach is pebbly. One of the small pools warms up nicely when the tide comes in during the summer months, otherwise the it is Pacific ocean, cold.

Our little cottage is an historic old timer that has been lovingly updated but still keeping some of the quirky charm. It is located right across a country road from the beach of the Georgia Strait. You can be on the beach in 2 minutes! Imagine taking your morning coffee down there at sunrise or enjoying a glass of wine at sunset. It's a little piece of heaven!

The NeighborhoodRoberts Creek is a special place. For being so close to Vancouver, it feels so far. "Creekers" are proud people who know the importance of taking time to make a good meal, have a spontaneous chat and stop for a moment to acknowledge an eagle flying overhead. A huge artists community, lots of home galleries, live music events and some good ole guerrilla pieces here and there. The Gumboot Cafe just steps from our driveway is among the funkiest places to grab a fresh organic coffee, some home sliced pizza, local craft beer, and no shortage of sweet treats and great tunes. The Gumboot Restaurant is for everyone - hot dates, huge families, loud locals - with a well rounded menu, focussing on local and organic ingredients. MELOmania, located between the two Gumboots, is where we all get our guitar strings, drum sticks, and every now and then a vintage Gibson SG might appear hanging on the walls amongst the many electric and acoustic guitars, amps, drum sets, etc. Our community library is run solely by volunteers and feels like a blast from the past, our general store has a bit of everything, including booze, there's the Inside Passage School for Fine Woodworking (!) and of course an excellent health food store. Getting AroundTwo bus stops are located in the village, a two minute walk from the suite. 1 heads north toward Sechelt and the other south toward Gibsons (and also back to Langdale ferry terminal for those heading back to Vancouver).
