The SpaceThis 'chacra' (a house at the country side) is located in the outskirts of Castillos, at 12 kilometers form the village and 30 kms from the sea. The chacra is located half way on a hill so you have a terrific view! The surroundings are great, as we are in the middle of the so called "palmares" a protected species of Butia palm trees which are abundant in this area.
The terrain itself is 6 hectareas, with 1 hectarea eucalyptus trees and 3 hectareas recently planted with olive trees. It's located half way on a hill so the views are very nice. Besides that, we have a pond to swim when the days are hot.
Silence, stars, solar energy, rain water, it's all here! There is a fridge working on gas, the hot water from the shower is also heated by gas. Drinking water is filtered rain water, yes..Uruguay is so clean you can easily drink it!
Bring your book (we have books as well) and gaze the milky way at night, enjoy the silence and the sounds of the birds and frogs.
I am a great cook, as they say so, so I make you home made breakfast, eggs from free range chickens, if you like we even have free range chicken meat but veggy food is also on my list. Breakfast costs 5 USD per person.
Dinner can also be taken care of! I can surprise you or let me know what you like!
We have enough food and drink on stock, its all available at a reasonable price so you won't be hungry or thirsty. Guest AccessYou stay at our house, you can use every space except the locked room.
There is solar energy, which will give you usually about 3 to 4 hours per day of electricity, enough to charge your equipment. In case of emergencies, we can offer you access to internet via Wifi though it is not very fast. But enough to check somewhere in or out for example. Interaction with GuestsDuring the day we are working outside so we'll be there for you for any questions. We stay in another house at the terrain. There is a mobile phone to call us. The NeighborhoodThe nature, the silence, country life, not too remote, not too far from the beach so you can make a combination with beachlife and gaucho life. There is also a life stock market every second tuesday of the month. If you really want te experience the Gaucho life of Uruguay, we can go there. It's absolutely not touristy, you will be the only tourist over there. Getting AroundThere is only a taxi connection to castillos or we can offer you a pick up/drop off service. From Castillos busses are heading everywhere. Taxi takes about 30 minutes to get to the chacra. Other Things to NoteFeel free to ask me anything!
We have a puppy, three cats, chickens and a duck walking freely around! But they are all fun and lovely. No roosters so no worries about waking up early.
