The SpaceIf you're looking for solace, this is it. Sitting on a 300 acre plot of land, this arts-and-crafts style bungalow is nearing almost one-hundred years in age, but you wouldn't know it from how its been lovingly restored. The bathroom has been completely redone, the hard wood and trim all refinished, and the kitchen updated with granite counter top and accommodating sink. All of the old charm of the house is still there though, with its original plaster walls, pocket door, French doors, fireplace, and hardwood.
A wonderful master bedroom features a queen bed with premium bedding and connects with the bathroom, which has a newly redone back splash and hardware. In the back bedroom, two twin beds accommodate two more guests, and a large glass-topped desk is perfect for getting some work done. There is a fold-out sofa that can accommodate two more in the living room, giving the house a maximum occupancy of six.
The bathroom is fully stocked with high quality towels and linens, as well as extra toiletries should you need them. We generally keep a variety of soaps, shampoos and lotions in the hallway by the bathroom should you need them.
In the kitchen, you'll find all the cookware you'll need for just about any kind of meal, as well as complementary breakfast items - juice, water, bread or bagels, farm-fresh eggs, ham. Outside the kitchen you'll find a complementary bottle of local wine.
The living room has a 32 inch flat screen television with over-air access to local channels, as well as an extensive library of popular movies and newer releases on DVD. The library room has a large collection of books, new and old, all for our guests to read.
You will get a lot of privacy here - sitting far off a gravel road in a rural area, you usually can't even hear the cars go by. Once you get checked in you generally won't hear or see us unless its at a distance as we live elsewhere on the property. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire house except the basement. Guests may walk the grounds within reason but are prohibited from any other structures on the property except the detached garage. If you go through any gates please re-latch them as we have livestock on the property. Interaction with GuestsWe will check you in and show you around initially, but past that you won't see or hear anyone, except in the case where we need access to the barn facilities further down the drive, in which case we will notify you ahead of time. The NeighborhoodYou'll have all the privacy you want out here. About half a mile off of the road, you can't even see other nearby houses. We live on the same property, but down another drive where you won't see or hear us. We are about half way between Rocheport and Columbia on I-70. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation around and the setting is pretty rural, so you will want a car to get around. Other Things to NoteThough our listing says we are in Rocheport for the purposes of our mailing address, we are several miles away from the actual town of Rocheport. If you are looking to ride the Katy Trail you will likely need to transport your bikes there as you will need to take the highway to get there. We are about ten minutes away from Rocheport and fifteen from Columbia, both of which can be accessed via I-70.
We ask that you try to leave the house relatively close to how it was when you arrived. We do not expect you to vacuum the floors, dust, or clean the bathroom unless it is excessively dirty. We do, however, expect to find the house left reasonably clean – no excessive grass or dirt on the floor, spills and other messes cleaned up, anything used to cook cleaned up and put away.
Before you leave, please
•Make sure coffee maker is cleaned and emptied
•Turn off oven and stovetop and ensure they are reasonably clean
•Make sure dishwasher is emptied and dishes are put away (please hand wash Teflon cookware)
•Move any furniture back to where it originally was
•Leave key on dining room table before you leave
•(Optionally) leave stripped dirty linens in a laundry basket, which is usually found in the bedroom closet
•(Optionally) empty small trash cans into kitchen trash bag (or the trashcan on the back deck if needed) and separate glass/metal, as we recycle these
We bill guests by the number of beds used. Normal rates provision two people sleeping in the master bedroom (double occupancy). Each additional bed used will count for an additional guest at a rate of 20 dollars per night per guest past the initial two.
