The SpaceCentral location, accessibility to businesses, services, and eateries. It's private and pleasant.
The furnishings are antiques or 2nd hand except the mattresses have been slept on less than 50 times each. I like to call the "decor" early 80's grad school. Kitchy.
You have a lot of space. And it's sunny almost everywhere in every room. Guest AccessKitchen, bath, office area or extra sleeping space, closet, bedroom and sun porch/room, entry room and stairs. Interaction with GuestsThat depends! It is your preference! We can chat and share a meal, or you can have time all to yourself. The NeighborhoodThe neighbors are great! Also, close proximity to the grocery store, the pharmacy and dining establishments. It's five minutes across the river to Davenport, and Moline and Bettendorf are a simple hop, skip, and a jump away. The city bus stops right in front of the house too!
Within 1 block are Whitey's, Dr. Gyros, CVS, Hungry Hobo.
Within 2 blocks are HyVee, Checkers, Walt's Citgo Service, Burke's Cleaners, Rudy's Tacos, Papa Murphy's.
It's a busy intersection at 18th Avenue so you can expect a lot of vehicle street noise.
This house is 100 years old. The story is that twin teacher sisters grew up and lived here, one up and one down. The family were cabinet makers so the woodwork, doors, and pull out cutting boards are still beautiful and in working order. My favorite thing about upstairs is the sunlight in the morning and a sense of contentment.
My three dogs will bark when they hear you so be forewarned. They tend to bark considerably more at males than females. It's interesting. They don't bark long but they are consistent. They are protecting the place, so, I won't stop them entirely. Getting AroundThe city bus stops right in front of the house. Straight down the hill is the Arsenal Bridge across the Mississippi to downtown Davenport. Other Things to NoteChildren are welcome, but require special consideration because of the stairs and potential hazards. Pets are a possibility if they stay with you throughout your visit. We can discuss specifics and reach a mutual agreement. Or not!!
I have a lot of pets so if you are offended by pet hair this isn't the place for you. Despite cleaning there is a possibility of stray pet hair.
I have not purchased new sheets or bath linens, and, I do not plan to. The sheets and towels may not be beautiful, but they will be freshly laundered.
This is my home, it is not a hotel. If you want a hotel many are available in the area.
