This charming house in Rockland's historic district has housed families for over a century, and has been recently updated to offer the comforts of modern living, without sacrificing its turn-of-the-century charm. Offering three bedrooms and a convenient mix of twin, queen, and double beds, Sadler House in Rockland also gives you that coveted second bathroom you need when you're traveling with your family. Park your cars and spend most of your week exploring Rockland on foot. Our home has the unique advantage of being just blocks from Main Street, but is located on a side street that doesn't serve as a thoroughfare. Additionally, we have a large, fenced yard so you can relax outside in the Adirondack chairs or grill. You won't be able to decide if Rockland is more fun for kids or for adults, when you see the amazing collection of shops, restaurants, and other attractions just a stone's throw from our front steps! When rainy days do occur or work requirements interfere with your outdoor fun, you'll be able to take advantage of our wifi, Netflix, and Wii for entertainment. Let the kids play in one room while you work or relax in another! Not only do we provide all your towels and bedding, but you will arrive to find your bed freshly made with clean duvets on all the feather comforters. Our cleaning service uses organic products and vacuums with allergy filters, and we are rug-free to reduce dust and allergens. 50% of total rental fee is due upon reservation. The other 50% plus damage deposit will be due 30 days prior to the beginning of the rental. Please contact the owner for the cancellation policy. Ours is an in-town property just blocks from the water and the excitement of Main Street. However, we have the good fortune to be on a non-through street that sees mainly resident traffic from exclusively single-family homes.

The SpaceA mile from the coast as the crow flies, our spacious farmhouse is located at the foot of a wooded mountain in beautiful Rockland Maine. Our nearby town offers lovely sails in the harbor, skiing, hiking and a yearly lobster festival for early August visitors. Come breathe the fresh air and get a great night sleep in our comfortable, private guest room. The room (double bed) overlooks our slate patio and a expansive, lush yard where we often see deer, fox, and wild turkeys. Shared bathroom. Breakfast makings are available from 7-9 am, granola, fruit, yoghurt, tea and coffee. You may certainly bring your own food and use the frig as needed. We both work so we would appreciate the use of the kitchen between these hours. Thank you. In the cooler weather we cook on a wood stove and sit around that same stove to read, knit and visit. We have a second room available as needed and futons and sleeping mats available in the same room, if needed. Free WiFi. Terrific restaurants abound in Rockland, Rockport and in Camden a few miles away. We recommend Cafe Miranda, Archers, Primo's, Rockland Cafe, and many more. Guest AccessPatio, deck, most rooms available Interaction with GuestsGuest interaction depends on the guests! Some want to chat and get to know us and/or the community, others want to come in, shower and get on with their own lives in Maine and return only to sleep...we are comfortable with either. We are not a destination family, but have been know to have long hours of conversation over breakfast in the kitchen or on the deck. We have made friends with Airbnb guests and have had several repeat visitors. Getting AroundNo public transportation, but there is a taxi service. Rockland is a nice 2 mile walk...bring a bike if you like! Enjoy a walk into town!

The SpaceBecause of the uniqueness of staying aboard a sailboat, please read all the descriptions we have provided. It's a sailboat and we've got the best view in town! It's a warm wood interior with excellent ventilation. There are 5 steep steps to get in and out of the cabin. Unlike a bed that has access on 2 sides, our bunks have access from only one side. That means sometimes there is a little bit of climbing needed to get in and out of bed without waking your partner. Please note, there is no shower aboard the boat. We do have sinks for washing up, but if you want to shower you'll have to go to the public landing/Harbormaster's office to shower for $2. Its not far at all. Guest AccessWell it's a cozy, intimate space... you have access to it all... but most importantly access to adventure and uniqueness. You'll take the Launch (water taxi) to get to the boat. Its $5 per person, cash only. Getting aboard Rocinante from the Launch is one step, but sometimes if the waves are up, there is need for a nimble foot or two. Interaction with GuestsA bunch. It's pretty hard to miss each other on a 44' boat... and that's part of the fun. There is a small, well groomed cat aboard named Dory. The humans are Ben and Teresa. The common space is shared but you'll have privacy in your sleeping cabin. The NeighborhoodGreat restaurants. Killer café. Galleries. Art museums. Lobster boats. Seagulls. Harbor Seals. Guillemots. Stuff to do within walking distance. A short drive to Camden for another awesome quaint town. And we can tell you all the best places in the area to visit for lake swimming, hiking, shopping, and dining. Getting AroundMost everything is walkable in Rockland. There is a local taxi service called Schooner Bay. The Launch service (getting to and from the boat) runs from 8am to 8pm weekdays, and 9pm on weekends. Other Things to NoteWe can be at a mooring or anchored out - your choice. However this is subject to mooring availability. To get ashore from the boat in Rockland Harbor, you will need to take the Rockland Yacht Club Launch to and from the boat. The cost is $5 per person one way. The launch runs from 8am to 8pm weekdays, and until 9pm on weekends. We will call the launch service to pick you up. If you plan on arriving after 8pm please let us know. If you want to be dockside, additional fees apply. We have a little cat named Dory. He's lived most of his life aboard a boat. However, we don't allow other pets aboard. Also, FYI, when we aren't an Air B&B, then we are offering sail-training expeditions in the islands of Maine. Check out our expedition schedule on the web at Morse Alpha Expeditions.

The SpaceThe apartment has its own entrance, full bath with tub, queen sized bed, fully equipped kitchen. It is for two people; sorry, additional guests cannot be accommodated comfortably. Also it is not child proofed and is best for adults only. NOTE: As of mid-October 2016 there is NO TV [For already confirmed guests, TV will continue through mid-October 2016]. Guest AccessI love feeding the birds, and have some feathered guests that are regulars, including hummingbirds. The feeders are outside of your window and quite enjoyable. Interaction with GuestsI live right "next door" - the apartment is over my garage - and can be as available as you like. If you want help with ANYTHING, just ask. If you want privacy, it is yours. As I am not licensed to serve food, I do not serve breakfast. However, the fully equipped kitchen is perfect for packing lunches and making your own breakfast. I work hard to make my guests feel welcome, and will turn on outside lights for my guests when I notice they are gone during the evening. The apartment entrance has an outside light that is on a timer as well. The NeighborhoodMinutes away from downtown Camden/Rockland, this space offers quiet and wildlife - the best of both worlds. Midcoast Maine is a wonderful community of great restaurants, museums, local farms, lighthouses, lobsters and freshly caught seafood, and everything that makes Maine special. Our backyard is Penobscot Bay, local parks for hiking, lakes for swimming and small boats. There is an amazing craft and music community here. You can rent bikes/canoes/kayaks/paddleboards locally, and take day trips [or longer] on local schooners. So many things to do and see! Getting AroundYou need a car! as there really is no public transportation locally. In many ways, Maine is quite rural. Cell phone towers can be spotty - that's just the way life is here - which is why many folks love it - it really is a place to 'get away from it all!' Other Things to NoteThe apartment was built in 2006 and is super insulated, energy efficient, making it comfortable in all seasons. It is on the second floor.

The SpaceEnjoy your stay in our guest room. The room has a comfortable double bed, shelf full of books along with a number of travel and hiking guides. Museum, restaurant and sailing brochures can be found in your room as well as other attractions. The room is located on the second floor accessed by a separate staircase adding to the sense of privacy. Please note, the stairs are the original old New England steep backstairs. Those with super heavy or large suitcases--be aware. The kitchen and bathroom are located on the first floor beneath the bedroom. You are welcome to use our kitchen while you are here. We simply ask that you clean up following each meal. Use of the washer and dryer is possible, but please ask first. We will provide coffee, juice, and breakfast (homemade waffles, granola and yogurt, fruit, toast, eggs, etc.) Breakfast will vary based on availability and preferences. We are located right in town--two blocks from the ferry and bus terminal and downtown's fabulous restaurants and vibrant arts community. Our home is close to everything, but located on a dead end street which offers us plenty of quiet in the city center. We offer off-street parking. The property is situated on nearly 1/2 acre lot boasting beautiful gardens, including the addition of a large cutting garden in spring of 2016. Relax with a book in one of our adirondack chairs or walk to town and immerse yourself in all that Rockland has to offer. We look forward to hosting you and will make every effort to share the best mid-coast Maine has to offer! Guest AccessWIFI, use of kitchen, access to laundry for those guests staying a week or more, off street parking Interaction with GuestsWe interact with our guests as often as possible. A huge part of the reason we host is for the cultural exchange and to share what we know about mid-coast Maine and New England. That said, we both work and have engagements that may prevent us from being there to say hello or goodbye, but we always communicate this with our guests and make every effort to interact at some point during their stay. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is quiet but on the edge of downtown. We live on a dead end street which keeps traffic and noise at a minimum. It is an eclectic bunch of neighbors--retirees, professionals, a lobsterman and a few "jack of all trades." Some of us are "from away" and others are native to Maine. Getting AroundWalking, biking or car are all great ways to see Rockland and the surrounding area. There are a couple of taxi services in Rockland for those who may need/want it.

Location/Grounds: 'Ocean view' only begins to describe what this house is about: 'best view on the coast of Maine', 'you can't help but feel one with the elements', 'no need to go anywhere, its all right here', 'unimpeded views exceeding 180 degrees:' Penobscot Bay, Chickawaukee Lake, the Camden Hills, Blue Hill, Acadia National Park, Islesboro, Vinalhaven, North Haven, Monhegan Island, the Atlantic Ocean. Perched high on a mountaintop watch the Windjammer fleet romp along the coast from Camden, Rockport, and Rockland. Descend through woods and wildflowers on the north to this unique and breathtaking 7 acre property. Informal gardens and natural stone walls enhance the sense of privacy. Whether bird-watching (from hawks to hummingbirds), stargazing, weather-watching ('I'd never seen a double rainbow before'), berry-picking, or simply lying in a hammock, enjoy cool sea breeezes, and the pink glow of the reflected sunset. The sunrise from Sunrise Summit is a sight to behold, 'the full moon rise has to be the best on the planet'. Only 5 minutes from swimming and boating on Lake Chickawaukee and 5 minutes from a supermarket. Explore Rockland 8 minutes from your doorstep: cafes, restaurants, shops, galleries, Farnsworth Museum, Strand Theater (movies and Bay Chamber concerts), windjammers, ferries, festivals, farmers markets, and even a boardwalk. Just 20 minutes from Camden. 'If serenity is what you seek, the deep down, soul-nourishing peace so elusive in our day-to-day lives, then look no further than Sunrise Summit'. Style: Designed and built in 2009 by the owners/architects, including lighting, doors, couches, chairs, tables, beds, built-in cabinetry, in a style not easily categorized. Contemporary yet barn-like with four buildings connected by links, much in the old Maine tradition of adding space as the family grows. Soaring 22 foot ceilings, oiled douglas fir timber frames, generous, calm yet playful spaces with unique details fill this stunning 3500 square foot home. With 88 linear feet of 8 foot high sliding glass doors, 'the sea and sky have been invited inside'. Add 2000 square feet of deck overlooking layers of water from lake and bay to the ocean beyond...'the perfect expression of heaven on earth'. First floor: From the front porch, enter with mud room and powder room tucked in on the right to the open plan kitchen/dining/living. The architects designed the kitchen in bamboo for its durability and soft look. At 16 ft x 16 ft with 4 foot square work island, new top-of-the-line appliances, there is room for many chefs. Dining area has 5 foot square oak table with 24 feet of glass sliders to the 'cliffhanger' deck. Only a double-sided fireplace and wood stove separate the dining and living spaces. The 2-story living room's 32 feet of glass sliders open to the main deck and outdoor dining room, dramatic views beyond. Continuing through the living room, a glass enclosed link leads to a guest room with queen size bed, built-in desk, cedar closet, and water views. Diagonally across is a den/bedroom with 47 inch flat screen television, DVD collection (no cable), CD, MP3 player, cedar built-ins, desk. Choose 2 twin beds or king conversion. Opposite the guest room is a spacious bamboo bathroom with 6 foot soaking tub, separate shower and toilet. Cedar linen closet and laundry facilities with sink are inconspicuous yet convenient. Follow the gallery to a sliding cedar barn door and another glass enclosed link with 8 foot desk and library. The adjacent master suite includes a king size bed, 16 feet of sliding glass to a private deck overlooking Rockland harbor. An 8' x 10' cedar closet/dressing room joins the master bath: oak cabinet with double copper sinks, toilet, cedar-lined 4' x 8' shower, double rain heads, hand sprays, and benches...'the ultimate shower experience'. Second floor: From the living room the open riser stair leads to a loft/balcony area with built-in queen size sleeping bunk, large built-in desk, and bathroom with toilet and sink. Separated by a sliding cedar barn door is a guest room with 8 ft x 8 ft walk-in closet, two single beds (or king), and a private balcony with expansive ocean views. This room could also function nicely as an office. The 2 twin beds would then be moved to the loft/balcony (as shown in photo 36) or downstairs to the den (making it a 4 bunk room). Pets: Pets are not allowed on the premises. Additional amenities include: cd player, washer-dryer, well water.
