The SpaceOUR HOUSE AND GUESTS This is a modern, light and airy, high-ceilinged home and the visitors we've had from all over the world (Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Oman, Germany, Italy, USA, New Zealand) have commented on its warmth and charm. There is a large outdoor dining area (with seating for 10) and sitting area with a large BBQ and a pool. There's an indoor fireplace but Brisbane winters are so mild that it's rarely used. Guest AccessGOODIES Swimming pool, BBQ, kitchen for help-yourself breakfast, lunch and snacks, shared bathroom, television, books, games (including chess and backgammon), internet. See below for information about in-house Ka Huna massage. NIGHTLIFE There's a pub which serves meals a 5 minute drive from us - we can't recommend it for anything but a drink - the food's okay but nothing to rave about. Instead, take the bus from right outside the door to South Bank for day and night markets, LOTS of restaurants, the museum, art gallery, and theatre, the sand beach, and just a wonderful wander. Fortitude Valley has terrific pubs, restaurants, a vibrant streetscape, and live music. Ben is a devotee of Brisbane's thrumming live music scene and will be able to direct you to the best venues for your taste and budget. Interaction with GuestsA BIT ABOUT US! This is a family home and not a business. The youngest person here is a quiet 18 year old boy - and Ben is the oldest but the youngest at heart! We usually dine at around 7pm on week nights - sometimes later at the weekend, sometimes together, sometimes not. In summer we eat outside. You can enjoy your breakfast inside or outside, or in your room. I'm a contract I.T. trainer so am often home during the week. The NeighborhoodAROUND US Toohey Forest has some beautiful walking tracks - watch the scrub turkeys scurry about, listen to the bird song, climb a little higher for some great outlooks. Although we're on a main road, the house is set back from the road 65m so it's very quiet. Getting AroundGREAT TRANSPORT There is a bus stop right outside our door which will take you to the city, Fortitude Valley (terrific nightlife), South Bank, Garden City shopping centre, and many other destinations. Coopers Plains train station (about a 5 minute drive away) has AirTrain stops from the domestic and international airports. Parking is on the side streets near our home. Other Things to NoteKA HUNA MASSAGE Book a blissful in-house Ka Huna massage with Heidi or Andrew (or both). You can see Heidi's details by searching for Heidi's Ka Huna massage FOOD We provide dinner six nights a week (not Saturday) and are unable to cater for specific dietary requirements. Our taste in food is eclectic - we're very keen on Asian-influenced dishes so chilli is pretty high on our list of loves but we can cut down on the spice if needed. There is an Aldi store a five minute walk away if you need something that isn't provided. LAUNDRY There is a large washing machine, dryer, indoor and outdoor washing lines which you are free to use any time - clothes washing powder is supplied. GUIDE Once you have booked, I can send you a .pdf file with more information about public transport, local attractions, and useful internet links.

The SpaceThis house is special and is full of old world charm. It does not have a lot of mod cons and has an original old laundry. If you do not like old things this may not be the place for you. The house is also very small and compact, it is not a large sprawling old Queenslander I request no smoking or parties inside. If you smoke please dispose of your buts thoughtfully, ie not in the garden. I also request you eat at the table and not on the couches or in the bedrooms. There is no dishwasher so you need to wash up by hand. I also need to make you aware the house is right next to a railway line with trains passing by, 1 or 2 trains a day are quite noisy. So if you are after absolute peace and quite all day this cottage may not be suitable for you. Most people don't mind as there also is a lot of birdsong all day which makes up for traffic noise. The house is not pet friendly and has no fence or gates. There also is no insect screens or high security. I will further discuss power, water and gas issues by email when booked. Guest AccessYou have access to the whole house, and need to take responsibility to return keys to nominated space. Entry is via the back orange door that has an automatic night light. There are a few small torches in the house you can loan if you go out at night . I will discuss other security issues with you via email. Interaction with GuestsI am not present, and you self cater, there are basics like salt sugar, cooking oil and spreads in the fridge which you are welcome to use, but perishables you purchase your self from the nearby supermarket or dine out at the many take aways and restaurants. The NeighborhoodThe house is very easy access to the city 18mins by train. There is a nice walk down to the Arboretum from the house. There are some beautiful old houses in the neighbourhood and it is nice to stroll around the back street of Laurel Avenue. 10 mins walking distance from the house is Graceville Picture theatre and quite a few coffee shops and restaurants. Over the railway line at Graceville there is an excellent Mexican Restaurant . Menu is in a folder in the house. Also close by is the Rocklea Market. Saturday is a fruit and vegetable market and Sunday is plants and general market, Getting AroundThe railway is excellent . Much better to purchase a Go Card . There is a bus service runs close by to selected places incl. Garden City and Indooroopilly Shopping Town.

I am a retired teacher. Although my five adult children live in Brisbane, I live by myself in a two-bedroom apartment in a large complex overlooking parkland. The five-year-old complex is about 10km from the city, has a pool and gym and is close to the train line and buses. There is a small shopping centre nearby with a very large shopping complex including cinemas within 3km.

The SpaceThe Yellow Room Kat and I live in a really quiet suburban area, 15 minutes train ride from the Central station and Brisbanes CBD. We live in a three bedroom, two bathroom townhouse, with a small tropical garden and big shared living room and kitchen. The room we have available has a queen size bed, desk bookshelf and built in wardrobe and it is next to a recently renovated bathroom and if we do not have guests in another room, it will be your own private bathrrom. I use it only for 10 minutes in the morning before I go to work. The room is clean and airy and we hope you will feel as relaxed as you are at your own home. There is wi fi at our place. Be free to use fridge and kitchen, to cook or just hang around, watch tv, or just chat with us. We are both working but I will be more at home than Kat, always glad to help or give you advise where to go or what to do in Brissie :). Queers, vegans and vegetarians are welcome, and for smokers, there is the garden which you can use as well :) Guest AccessFeel free to use our home as if it were your home! You can use the kitchen, living room, laundry, garden as you like. You can make yourself a good cup of coffee with our fancy coffee machine, or a cup of tea with our slightly-less-fancy kettle. If either of us is around, we'll be happy to make you a coffee, or show you how to use the machine (we know it can be scary, so we also have good instant coffee, if you prefer!) Interaction with GuestsWe are communicative, warm and approachable and always like to hear others peoples life stories. After being hosts for a couple of years in Zagreb, Croatia, we have just been a whole year without being able to offer rooms, and found we really missed the interaction and interesting stories that our guests always seem to bring. We're very happy to be able to host again, so feel free to come and chat with us! Or just watch tv in companionable silence, as you wish! The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is really quiet and there is a Yeronga Pool Park really near us, if you need a refreshment or just relax by the pool. Near our place is a really nice cafe with excellent coffee if you are on your vacation and you just do not want to bother to make your own coffee at our place :) Getting AroundNearest train station is Yeronga station and it is 7 minutes walk from our house. If you prefer buses they are plenty of bus lines along Ipswich road just 10 minutes walk from our place. If you are coming by car, there is a plenty of space to park in our street. Nearest shop is at Yeronga village, 10 minutes walk from our house. If we are at home, we can drive you to the nearest big shop, Coles or Whoolworths, especially when I finally get my driving licence :)))) As I already said, I am happy to give you directions. Looking forward being your future host. H :) Other Things to NoteWe are not fancy people, and our place isn't particularly fancy, but we work hard to make our guests feel comfortable and relaxed, like a home away from home!

The SpaceSEE BELOW FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT INFORMATION We are currently lovingly restoring the house to it's former glory (as well as catching it up with modern times!) We're renovating a room at a time - the newer rooms have brand new VJ walls, new ceilings & light fixtures, freshly painted & brand new carpets. The rooms we haven't got to yet are still very basic but we keep them clean and tidy. Guest AccessYour own Private lockable Room Common areas including Loungeroom & Kitchen Brand new Bathroom!! Parking space on the front lawn if required Interaction with GuestsWe live here but both work quite a lot of hours. Still we're not far away if you need anything! The NeighborhoodSettled alongside Yeerongpilly & the riverside suburb of Yeronga, Moorooka lays 7 kilometres (4.5 miles) south of the Brisbane CBD. Moorooka is boarded by the Toohey Forest and is surrounded by lush parklands including the Yeronga Memorial Park, Tarragindi Hill Reserve & Poinciana Park. Moorooka was originally settled as a stopover area between Logan & Ipswich and as a result is very centrally located to checking out those areas as well as exploring the city and beyond including the Sunshine Coast & Gold Coast. Getting AroundBUS The bus stop is conveniently located at the front door and would be the best way to get around! Catch Bus 100 or 110 to get into the city (allow half an hour journey time) Catch Bus 124 to get to Griffith University, Nathan (approx 15 minutes journey) Being on Ipswich Road the buses depart very frequently – you can check out the translink website for pricing and more information. TRAIN CBD / SOUTHBANK: Moorooka Manor is a ten minute walk to Yeerongpilly Train Station which is just 5 stops away from Southbank / Queen Street Mall (about a 15 minute train ride). The train leaves every fifteen minutes between 6am & midnight seven days a week! GOLD COAST: Moorooka is on the Gold Coast line – you can catch a train straight down to Coomera (all the theme parks!) or all the way down to Robina! AIRPORT / SUNSHINE COAST: You can catch your train into Roma Street or Central and transfer to the Sunshine Coast or Airport line. BIKE You can jump on the South East Bikeway around the corner on Fairfield Road. Gogole Maps says it's a 24 minute bike ride into the City & Southbank Parklands (I know it would take me a bit longer but if you're a keen cyclist go for it!!) WALKING Only for the very keen! It's about an hour and fifteen minute walk into the city. Because of work schedule I can't offer pickups or drop offs to the airport I'm sorry :( Other Things to NoteThe house is located on Ipswich road which is a busy arterial road leading into the city. At times you can hear traffic, trucks & buses going past. We believe it's a great spot as you can walk a few steps from the front door and onto a bus directly into the city but remember it is a noisy street :)

The SpaceThis is a great location to base yourself in Brisbane as it's seems to be handy to so many areas. I am also finding in the last year that many people are coming to stay here as they are doing courses at Archerfield, Rocklea, Salisbury, Acacia Ridge and Tarragindi. I have had a couple of guests who have stayed here when the Brisbane Tennis Open is on in January as it's only one train stop to the Tennyson Tennis centre. My guests tell me they feel really comfortable staying here and I love to hear those comments as I want my guests to feel relaxed and at home. It's a quiet, convenient area. It's only 8 kms to city centre and there's a train station only 7 minutes walk away. There are also buses 5 minutes walk away and a local shopping centre about 8 minutes walk. If you've got a car there is plenty of street parking and it's also easy access to the motorways for driving to the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast. There is a full size bedroom with a comfortable double bed. You have your own full size bathroom just across the passageway. You are more than welcome to use the kitchen and laundry as you wish. You can watch TV in the lounge area and there are loads of DVDs if you just want to kick back and relax after an energetic day out and about. I want people to make themselves at home. I know Brisbane and the countryside around it extremely well so I should be able to answer any questions you have on places to go. Guest AccessGuests can relax in the living area and use the outside area as well. They are welcome to use the kitchen and laundry when they need to. Interaction with GuestsI like to make my guests feel at home and am always interested in learning more about where they come from, where they've been, what they've done and what they're going to do. In turn, I can fill them in on places to go in Brisbane and many other locations as well. The NeighborhoodThe best thing about my neighbourhood, besides the fact that generally it's very quiet and it's handy to everything, is the abundant bird life. You wake up and it sounds like you're in the country sometimes as there are so many different bird sounds depending on the time of year. Getting AroundPublic transport is excellent as there is easy access to trains and buses. Only minutes walk away. For those with cars, it is a central point to go to many places. For those doing courses at Archerfield/ Rocklea area, it is only a 5-10 minute drive. The city and West End are only 15 minutes away, Gold Coast is 45 minutes and out to western suburbs is 20-30 minutes. The airport is only 25 - 30 minutes drive if you take the Clem 7 and Airport tunnels. Other Things to NoteThe bathroom has bath towel, hand towel and face washer supplied. There is shower gel, hand wash, shampoo and other bathroom amenities for you. If you can't find what you want, just ask. I even have spare toothbrushes should you forget to bring your own. No hair dryer though. The bed has four pillows, 2 soft and 2 firmer ones to suit preferences. In summer, there is a very lightweight doona and in winter a warmer down filled doona. There are extra blankets should it get very cold which is highly unlikely.
