The Oak Lodge is located on the historic “island” of Mt. Kineo, an area rich with history and beauty. In fact, the seven cottages on 'cottage row' were recently selected by the national register of historic places as a historic district. Specifically, the Oak Lodge was cited for being one of the 'few Mission style homes from the Arts & Crafts era in Maine.' The newest owners have divided it in half and use one side for themselves and rent out the other half as its own unit. Mt. Kineo is not accessible by car, there is a ferry shuttle service. There is also a private dock if you have or will rent a boat. To access the dock from the lodge is a new deck with gas grill and seating for 8. These decks are also a nice secluded spot to read a book or watch the sunset. Walk about 1 mile to the famous “pebble beach,” one of the most beautiful beaches on the lake, located by the rock cliffs, there is also a lovely pebble beach just two houses down that is a perfect place to swim and sun. This lodge has been recently remodelled and is beautiful, combined with this absolutely unique location, this is truly a great vacation getaway. The SpaceThis eco- friendly all season* compound sits on the scenic shore of Moosehead Lake in Maine overlooking Mt. Kineo. Whether you are looking to relax amongst the tall pines or looking for a bit more adventure such as fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, ATV, hiking, biking, watching moose or boating and ice fishing - Moosehead has it all! Our compound consists of four cabins which were originally built for use as a boys camp in the early 1900's. They have been tastefully updated maintaining the charm of yesterday but included todays modern amenities such as internet. The landscaping and furnishings are magazine worthy. The cabins are far from rustic. The property is 'off the grid' so it is important to note that the use of the solar and septic should be limited with large groups. This is the perfect setting for a family reunion, yoga retreat, small weddings or just a get together with friends. The cabins are not rented separately so if you were to rent the entire compound would be included in your reservation. There is a main camp with a master bedroom and den that has a full futon, full kitchen and dining room. A second camp with two twin beds a futon and a small kitchen and bath and two other sleeping cabins. One with bunk beds and the other with a queen bed. In the winter months the main camp is not winterized so only the smaller 3 camps are for rent. Many people ask me about hiking. There are so many mountains in the Moosehead Lake region, it is difficult to highlight them all. Among the most popular hikes of the Rockwood area are Mount Kineo A trip to Mt. Kineo is a must. When reaching the top a hiker can take in the astounding panoramic views of the distant ranges. There is a pebble beach at the base which offers the perfect setting for a picnic lunch. For those of you looking to rent a boat there is a marina within 5 miles away where you can rent a boat. Please visit (URL HIDDEN) to learn more about boat rentals. A boat can be rented and brought right up to our dock for your stay. Although you feel you are away from it all the town of Greenville Maine is just 20 miles away where you will find a quaint general store, restaurants, tackle shops, boat rental marinas, ice cream shops and an old fashioned candy store and gift shop. There is also a convenience store and restaurant with great pizza and burgers etc.. just a couple miles away. Ask us about coordinating a private guide for hunting and fishing, planning a 'foodie long-weekend' with one of Portland Maine's classically trained chefs or a private yoga retreat. This is not a place to have a wild party. If you are looking for a mellow retreat this is perfect. There is an age limit on renters for this reason. This camp is a place for our family to get away as well and we are looking for responsible parties who will respect the property and neighbors. *** Main camp is not for rent in the winter months. Side camp with kitchen and two bunk houses will be available all heated. Guest AccessAll the cabins, dock (pier), canoe Interaction with GuestsOwner is always available The NeighborhoodMoosehead is a very special place. The Lake is the perfect location for people looking for a unique outdoor experience. The region is often referred to as 'God's Country' by locals. Moosehead is largest lake east of the Mississippi contained in one state. A home to nature lovers looking for a secluded getaway. There a so many activities to keep you busy year round ranging from fishing, hunting, camping, white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, exploring, skiing, snowmobiling, golfing, sailing, photography, viewing wildlife or just taking in the natural beauty of the region. This camp is the perfect place for our two boys to spend their summer. During the day we fish, swim, take drives to go moose hunting or the camps are also within 20 miles of the quaint town of Greenville, Maine which has many restaurants, shops and a local hospital. The boys love the vintage candy store and getting ice-cream. At night we love to cook so we bbq outside, sit on the dock and fish or read a good book by the fire. Getting AroundNo public transit. 20 miles to nearest town but there is a restaurant, gas and convenience store with in 2 miles. Other Things to NoteNo more than 10

If you have any specific questions not addressed above or are in search of specific criteria, please contact us. Interaction with GuestsWhat You Need To Know Frequently Asked Question`s & General Guidelines Whether this is your first time renting a private home, or you are a savvy traveler that realizes a vacation rental is the economical, convenient and smart way to go, you can have peace of mind that our professional vacation rental company will strive to make your experience "worry-free!" 1. How do I make a reservation? - You can either book online which is fast, easy & secure or give us a call at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). A 50% deposit due at the time of reservation. Once we receive a reservation request we will confirm it with the property owner and e-mail a reservation confirmation using Docusign. Docusign is an online signature program to sign your rental agreement and any other applicable paperwork. The remaining 50% is due 30 days prior to arrival which we will automatically charge to the credit card number on file unless alternate payment arrangements have been made. Also at 30 days prior to your arrival date, we will e-mail you a final confirmation which includes directions to our office and check-in information. 2. What if I need to cancel my reservation? - Cancellation notice must be given at least 90 days prior to your arrival date in order to receive monies that were paid in advance, less a $100 cancellation fee. From 90 to 31 days prior to your arrival the 50% deposit is non-refundable. From 30 days prior to your arrival the full payment is non-refundable. The cancellation policy is the same for winter/snowmobile reservations, however if there is little to no snow, then we may issue the renter a "rain check". This "rain check" can be used to rebook a later date at the same property but only until the end of that current winter season. Northwoods Camp Rentals reserves the right to cancel any reservation made under false pretenses. 3. Check-in & Check-out - During the prime season summer months, most rentals are on a full week rental schedule with the check-in and check-out day being Saturday. Check-in on Saturday is from 4-6 pm. However some properties are on a Friday-Friday or Monday-Monday schedule too (on weekdays check-in is from 2-4 pm). If you arrive after the office is closed there is an after-hours pick-up box beside the office door. Check-out is by 10AM on the day of departure. Upon check-out we ask that you return your key to the office & dispose of your trash in the dumpster at the office driveway (there is a separate bin for recycling & returnables). If the property you are renting is in an outlying area such as Rockwood or Monson then we will give you directions to those local transfer stations to dispose of your trash. Also please remember to take care of and respect the property as if it were your own, and leave it in a "broom clean" condition. 4. Occupancy Standards - Rental properties have maximum occupancy limits as specified on the property webpage and in the rental agreement, which must be strictly adhered to. Any violation of these standards will be grounds for eviction without refund. 5. Are there any other fees? The base rental rate for each property is listed on the individual property page. In addition to this an 11% cleaning fee and 8% Maine Lodging Tax applies to each reservation. If you are traveling with pets there is a $95 pet fee. On most properties there is also the Accidental Damage Coverage for $49, or on a handful of the high-end properties there is an additional security deposit. Additional options that you can add on to your reservation include linen rentals, canoe and kayak rentals, and a motorboat rental. 6.Just Ask — If you ever have a question about our beautiful Moosehead Lake Region during your vacation planning, just give us a call toll-free! On top of that, we do give you information on the area at check-in, as well as having Vacation Guides and Hiking/Fishing info available. 7. Do you accept pets? - Yes & No! About half of our cabins accept pets and the other half do not. If pets are allowed it will be noted on the property webpage. Below is a copy of our pet policy, which will be included in your reservation confirmation e-mail for you to sign and return no later than 30 days prior to arrival. A non-refundable pet fee of $95 is required. If there are pets discovered in or around a rental unit that does not accept pets, renters may be asked to vacate the rental unit immediately with all monies forfeited. Example of pet policy: a. This could be in the form of a letter or note from your veterinarian’s office (or store receipts for products such as Frontline are acceptable). 8. Telephones - If the owner supplies a telephone at the rental unit, it is for local or toll-free calls only. The renter must use a calling card for toll calls. If renter makes long-distance calls, it is the renter`s responsibility to pay for all toll calls made during their stay, as well as a $50 service fee. 9. The SpaceThe Oak Lodge is located on the historic “island” of Mt. Kineo, an area rich with history and beauty. In fact, the seven cottages on `cottage row` were recently selected by the national register of historic places as a historic district. Specifically, the Oak Lodge was cited for being one of the `few Mission style homes from the Arts & Crafts era in Maine.` The newest owners have divided it in half and use one side for themselves and rent out the other half as its own unit.
