The SpaceTwo-story owner occupied house has two extra bedrooms for rent. Hello and welcome to our listing. We try to keep our calendar as up to date as possible, but before you proceed with booking, we ask you to please send us a note inquiring about availability. Come and stay with us in the lovely historic Village of Romeo and enjoy a quiet night in our mid-century Colonial Revival home. The upstairs bedroom will allow for 2 people in a brand new T&N Adaptive™ Foam (Tuft & Needle) queen size bed and there is also a desk for your convenience. Feel free to join us in the living room or kick back and relax in your own space. There is TV and an Apple TV streaming box to access free content or feel free to login to your favorite streaming service (Hulu, Netflix, etc...) while staying with us. You can get online with Wi-Fi throughout the house. You'll share the bathroom with the other guests, if any. The yard is the other great part of the house. The large covered deck overlooking the upper garden is the perfect spot to read, listen to music or sip on a nice cup of joe anytime of the year. At night, the serenity of the countryside setting will let you listen to the crickets and enjoy the stars. Breakfast is included in the price and consists of cereal, oatmeal, english muffins, jellies and jams as well as fruits, yogurts, coffee and tea during the week. Or we will even start your day with a hot breakfast on the weekend. Unfortunately, we won't be able to host your pet friends. We would love to, but our kitties are not too thrilled with these kinds of visitors, we've tried... Take a walk to Downtown Romeo and pass by some of the loveliest Victorian, Craftsman, Colonial and other styles of houses in the area. Even though small, the village has many options for gift shopping, antiques, restaurants and even a couple museums. Plan your stay around one of the many festivals and events that Romeo offers, including the Peach Festival on Labor Day weekend. If you are looking for more room, check out our other listing for an additional queen sized bed (Romeo Retreat - French Country Room). Guest AccessRULES ABOUT COOKING If you are staying for a period of time and would like to prepare your own meal, we allow it with some respectful considerations; mostly regarding clean-up, strong smells and other guests. STRONG SMELLS We would greatly appreciate and hope that you consider that certain ingredients would be better prepared at your own home such as fish, curry and other strong smelling foods that may linger. CLEAN-UP Washing the dishes. Most items can go directly into the dishwasher - such as cooking and eating utensils, plates and glasses. You may need to hand wash some items. We would appreciate that once the dishes are washed that they are towel dried right away and put back where they were found. We do not like to have dishes air drying on the counter. Also, please return the dish-soap, sponge and dishtowel to their places. We have an electric, glass-top stove. We have all of the required cleaning supplies you will need to clean this type of stove. If you are unsure as to the correct way of cleaning the stove-top, please ask. Please do not use a cloth dishtowel to clean up food that has been burned onto the stove-top. Consider using the supplied stove-top cleaner along with a paper towel for such an occasion. Once done, please wipe the counter-tops. OTHER GUESTS Finally, please be aware that if we are expecting another guest who would be coming to the house for the first time, that we have spent some time to get the house together so that they have as nice of a first impression as you did, so please refrain from cooking your meal during the period of time that we are expecting our new guests. Thank you and we appreciate your cooperation. Interaction with GuestsThis is an owner occupied home which means we will be around during your stay. If you need anything or have a question, please do not hesitate to bring it to our attention. Please share your experience with us. If you have an Instagram account, you can use the hashtag 'romeoretreat' and we can enjoy your vacation with you : - ) The NeighborhoodWe are in the Village of Romeo, on the edge of town. We are a short walk to downtown, in fact our street becomes Main Street when you pass the 90 degree curve as you head into town. Our street is made up of a mix of older homes and newer construction...a church and one cheesy retro motel. From the Romeo DDA website: Downtown Romeo thrives with unique shops, restaurants, and galleries in a premier historic setting dating from the 1800’s. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places and on the Michigan Register of Historic Sites, Romeo bustles as a local business center in northern Macomb County amid fruit orchards and on the recreational Macomb Orchard Trail. Home of the Michigan Peach Festival each year over Labor Day weekend, downtown Romeo showcases the best of living in southeastern Michigan. Other Things to NoteThe driveway is long and narrow; one car width and is on an incline until you get to the top. Best place to park your vehicle is along the back of the house. Pull up all the way to where the driveway ends - and don't worry, even an SUV can fit between the boulder garden and the house. Enter the house using the back door. Old house = creaky wooden floors and stairs. Please be aware that there is absolutely no way for anyone to be quiet coming up the stairs to the bedroom and shared bathroom.
