You enter the house through the kitchen and then the living room where on colder days you will find a roaring fire. As a guest you might like to hang out in the kitchen, living room, music room or out on the porch. Each room features either a queen-sized or double bed and can accommodate up to two people. There are two shared bathrooms. We have 130 acres of fields and forest to explore. There are paths including one to a beautiful waterfall. Feeders bring birds close to the windows and porch. Other wildlife may include woodchucks, squirrels, coydogs, hawks, foxes, hummingbirds, wild turkeys or deer. There is a collection of guides to local hiking trails that you may borrow. Interaction with GuestsI love greeting and chatting with guests. Please let me know if you would like to know about the history of the place, where to shop for antiques or where the nearest ski areas are. If you prefer more privacy, or less contact, just let me know. Usually I will serve you breakfast family style with everyone in the house at the same table. If you prefer to eat alone, just let me know. I want your stay to be just they way you envision it. Breakfast is served according to your schedule whether early bird or late sleeper. At times I may need to be away or leave early in the morning. In this case, breakfast will be self-serve but will still consist of a delicious breakfast with hot, homemade food, coffee or tea and seasonal fruits and juices. The NeighborhoodStroll the country roads past cows and horses or climb the hill to the sheep farm. A two and a half mile walk takes you along the White River into the village where you will find two excellent restaurants. One is a sit down style with steak and sea food dishes. The other is a gourmet beer pub with grass-fed beef burgers, organic vegetables, and micro-brew beers. Nestled in the heart of Vermont we are just three miles from I-89 on your way up to all the ski areas, hiking trails, festivals, craft shows, art shows, Agricultural Fairs and so much more. Getting AroundAs in most of rural America, a car is the best way to travel around. The closest airport is BTV in Burlington, Vt. where you can rent a car. Buses and trains from Boston, Ma., NYC or Montreal, Quebec arrive into White River Jct. or Lebanon, NH where you can also rent a car. The Space1840's Farmhouse with amazing views from every room in the house. Each of the three bedrooms features a queen-sized bed. There is a wood stove - fireplace in the living room which welcomes guests with a warm cheery fire on cold days. There are 2 shared bathrooms. Breakfast is included and often consists of homemade quiche, coffee or tea. Please let me know if you are vegetarian or are allergic to anything. Also, please let me know if you prefer pancakes, eggs or cereal with yogurt with fresh seasonal fruit. We have free WIFI. The bed and breakfast is located just 2 1/2 miles from South Royalton where you will find a couple of nice restaurants, Five Olde and the Worthy Burger. In the summer there is a Farmers Market on the Green each Thursday afternoon with a band concert following in the evening. Vermont Law School, the top Environmental Law School in the country, is also located in South Royalton. Getting AroundBuses, trains and planes all come to Vermont but to get around in this rural state you will need a car. Car rentals are available at any terminus. We are 2 1/2 hours from Boston, 3 hours from Montreal and 5 hours from NYC. Property managers live in an additional house on the 50+ acre property. Indoor access includes the living room, dining room, kitchen, TV room, laundry facilities, and exercise equipment. Outdoor areas offer a variety of seasonal recreational opportunities. Enjoy an extensive network of trails for hiking or snowshoeing, take a leisurely stroll through the perennial gardens, or simply relax by the fire pit. Late summer guests are encouraged to pick blueberries and gather fresh vegetables from the garden. Staying in the winter? Bring your snow gear and a sled! The NeighborhoodOur house sits on 10 acres on a gravel road, but it is less than 5 miles from Interstate 89. Friendly neighbors abound, sharing in the creation and use of the trails, and giving a friendly wave to people passing by. Getting AroundWhile central Vermont is a great place for biking, unless you are an avid cyclist, you will need a vehicle. The gravel road is well maintained, but four wheel drive is recommended in the winter months. Other Things to NoteWe have a tenant in the apartment downstairs who shares the laundry facilities and outdoor areas. He has a friendly, well-behaved dog who also shares the outdoor areas.
