Shared bath when second rental room is booked. Guest AccessMake yourself at home in the sunken living room featuring large fireplace, piano, and surround picture windows looking toward our 12,000 ft. peak, Sierra Blanca. Burl stump end tables made from the tree under which Billy the Kid sang to his lover, Dulcuiea Del Toboso.
Throughout the house you will see the special paintings by my grandparents, and other lovely works of art from the gallery that we owned for many years. Many of the books have been handed down through generations, and include genres of mystery, classic literature, politics, Jungian psychology, world religions, and mythic narrative. The peacock feathers featured throughout the house were gathered over a hundred years ago from my great uncle's farm.
The charming kitchen sports a lovely fireplace and island which seats six should you want to heckle the cook.
Outdoor patio has Mexican chiminea for cozy fires whether lounging for your morning coffee or enjoying the night air.
Wifi reaches throughout the house and onto the patio. * Driveway is steep, but has served us for over 30 years, and is best confidently approached in low gear.
Our family home is known throughout the area as particularly unique, and has provided a lovely retreat for many beloved guests throughout the years.
Downstairs basement is off limits. The Bogyman lives down there. Interaction with GuestsI'm happy to hermit myself away if you're looking for a refuge and special solitude. However, as my time allows, if you prefer a hostess who fusses and mothers, just let me know. I'll be available on site during your stay should you need anything. The NeighborhoodWe were the second house on the hill when my family built this home in 1978. The neighborhood overlooks the schools, though the property is fairly private and wooded. The deer seem to think my property is a day spa to work on their tans, and there are usually 5-20 deer each day that wander or lounge about outside the windows. Summer birds include bluejays, hummers, woodpeckers, nuthatches, and others. Getting AroundAfter only a five minute drive from the house to "Midtown," you can wander through a wide variety of shopping, restaurants, pubs, and art museums. The Inn of the Mountain Gods hotel, mountain golf course, and casino is about a 15 minute drive south of the house. Horse racing season runs throughout the summer and the Cowboy Symposium and Octoberfest occur in October. Enjoy beautiful views, hiking trails, horseback riding, and other local activities and events.
Lincoln County Transit, available during the day, will transport you from any location within city limits for $2.00 each way! There is an Enterprise car rental agency in town. Other Things to NoteI'm free with snacks, fresh homemade bread, lemonade, tall refreshing glasses of ice tea or smoothies, coffee or a nice cup of hot tea. If you'd like a home cooked meal or would like to barbeque on the patio, that can be arranged.
I'm happy to provide information about the area when you arrive, (tourist pamphlets available).
If you want to just hang out, there's a great collection of puzzles and board games (Masterpiece, National Park Monopoly, Scrabble, Fact or Crap, and many more).
Computer, printer, digital projector and other items may be available upon request.
As this is a split level home with steps, those with mobility issues may not find this a good fit.
