The home is newly furnished to comfortably fit up to 10 people. It includes a fully equipped modern kitchen with a historic wood burning stove, a cozy sun room, a family room with a large flat-screen TV, a wood burning fireplace (wood included), a living room with a second wood burning fireplace, 4 bedrooms (3 on the second floor, one on the first floor) and 2.5 baths. Washer, dryer and a large „mud room“ entryway complete the home. Many family games, outdoor games, children toys and books are also included. Outside is a shady, rose covered pergola with an outdoor dining set and a combo (gas/charcoal) grill. Our home is situated on a scenic hill top at the end of a quiet road. The home is surrounded by well maintained fields where sheep and horses once used to graze and the barn that used to house them still stands. Depending on the time of year, the garden is filled with ripe blueberries, raspberries and grapes. Apple, pear and peaches trees line the long driveway to the house. In front of the home is a pond with clean, clear water where our children love to play. All around are woods, streams and paths waiting to be discovered. This is a single family home and our guests have exclusive access to all areas. The home sits on extensive private lands which can be explored directly from the house by foot, ATV or snowmobile (the ATV and snowmobiling trails are a part of one of the largest maintained trail networks in Maine). The home is a 15 minute walk or a quick ATV ride from the beautiful Halfmoon Pond with excellent fishing and paddling opportunities (see pictures) -- and even moose encounters. Our land also provides excellent opportunity for hunting - moose, black bear, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, grouse, woodcocks and other small game all abound. And of course, the fall leaf peeping is absolutely spectacular. In addition, the home is close to many other popular outdoor activities including hiking sections of the Appalachian trail or the White Mountain National Park, paddling the Androscoggin River, exploring the Rangeley Lake area or skiing the nearby Black Mountain. Mexico and Rumford are a quick 5-10 minute drive and with its WalMart, Hannaford, many local stores and restaurants the twin cities provide excellent source for most needs. Farmington and Bethel are other nearby scenic towns worth exploring for its shopping, dining and recreation opportunities.
