Cozy, rustic, funky cabin nestled in the woods, features a spacious front deck with spectacular views of Green Mountain. A great viewing platform for the elusive flying squirrel. Also featured is a woodsy sitting area in the back, with easy access to the Keller Peak region which boasts of some of the best hiking in the San Bernardino National Forest. Explore the Children's Forest, Exploration Trail, Fires Look Out tower, etc... The Cabin is approx. 700 sqft. and built in the 1930's. It most comfortably accommodates 4 guests, with a lofted queen bed in the bedroom, and full size platform bed in the living space. The kitchen appliances include gas stove/oven, frig./freezer, and is stocked with pots/pans, dishes, utensils, and small appliances. The 3/4 bathroom is accessible via a narrow steep staircase. Primary heat for those brisk nights is a gas heater in the living space. Guest AccessGuest will have the entire cabin all to themselves. Interaction with GuestsPlease treat this cabin as if it were your own, as it is the hosts primary residences. Host will be available to guests via phone (no text). Host has enlisted the help of a friend, and if host can not be contacted, then guests are encouraged to contact the hosts friend via phone or text. The NeighborhoodThe community of Arrowbear Lake is located east of Running Springs along Highway 18 in the San Bernardino National Forest. The cabin is located in the Keller Peak region with easy access to some of the best hiking in the San Bernardino National Forest. Keller Peak is the major peak overlooking the Running Springs area in the San Bernardino Mountains. Keller actually has two summits with Keller standing at 7881 ft. and Slide Peak at 7841 ft. You can drive up Keller Peak Rd. on asphalt and is crowned with a amazing condition fire lookout tower. Slide Peak is on nearby ski property and it is the high point of that operation. Keller Peak is the sixth most prominent peak over five thousand feet in the range with a value of P1042. Both peaks are on the Sierra Club's Hundred Peak List. To make for a longer hike Keller & Slide should be combined with trips to other nearby Hundred Peaks listed summits like Mill Peak and Crafts Peak. Keller Peak was also the scene of a tragic World War Two plane crash of B-26 bomber in 1942. The bomber hit just below the summit on the north slope. Getting AroundFor public transportation information, Mountain Transit provides Dial-a-Ride and Fixed Route service throughout the rural San Bernardino Mountain communities of the Big Bear Valley, Crestline, Lake Arrowhead, and Running Springs. Mountain Transit also provides Off-the-Mountain commuter service between these communities and the city of San Bernardino, making connections with Omnitrans, Metrolink, Greyhound, and other stops. Mountain Transit operates Weekend Trolley service providing transportation between local restaurants, hotels, ski resorts, and shopping venues throughout the City of Big Bear Lake.
Arrowbear Lake is a very small lake that has actually been known to dry-up during drought seasons. It is open year-'round (except when froze-over) sunrise to sunset. DO YOU ACCEPT LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS?
The cabin is the hosts primary residence, and at least a 3 days notice is recommended so that host can prepare the cabin for the guests stay. It is up to the discretion of the host to accept a booking with less than 3 days notice.
CAN I CHECK IN EARLIER AND/OR CHECK OUT LATER THAN THE CHECK IN/OUT TIMES?
Check-in/out times are flexible depending on other guests leaving the day you arrive or coming the day you leave. If you would like a different check-in/out time please let the host know prior to your booking request to make sure an alteration in the check-in/out times are possible.
IS THERE A BATHTUB?
No, there is a 3/4 bath, which includes a sink, toilet, and shower.
IS THERE WIFI?
WILL MY CELL PHONE WORK AT THE CABIN?
I'M LOOKING FOR A CABIN IN THE WOODS, DOES YOUR CABIN OFFER SOLITUDE?
No. My cabin is located in the mountain community of Arrowbear Lake, and is surrounded by neighboring cabin's. The back of the cabin is the forest, where trails and hiking can be accessed.
CAN I WALK TO ARROWBEAR LAKE OR A RESTAURANT FROM THE CABIN?
Yes, the cabin is an easy 5 min. walk to the lake or a 10min walk to Blondy's Restaurant
HOW FAR IS THE CABIN FROM BIG BEAR?
Arrowbear Lake is 20 miles West of Big Bear, a 30+ min. drive depending on weather, road, and traffic conditions.
WHERE IS THE CLOSEST SKIING?
Nearest Skiing is Snow Valley Mountain Resort (Approx. 3 miles away, 10min drive).
WILL THERE BE SNOW?
If your stay is contingent on snow, or no snow; it is best to monitor the weather prior to your stay before making your booking request. Snowy, icy conditions may exist in the winter. Be careful walking around outside. To prevent slips and falls wear snow chains on your shoes.
CAN I SLED ON THE PROPERTY?
Due to liability reasons there is no sledding on the property. Please do not trespass on neighbors properties to sled. Host will provide guests with information on local areas were sledding is permitted.
DO I NEED TIRE CHAINS FOR MY VEHICLE?
CHP requires possession of chains/cables when traveling mountain roads in the winter. Chains can be purchased at the base of the mountain Highland Ave. & Hwy330 at the Super Walmart. Be sure to get the right size as chains can not be returned.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Per county code all guests must park on the property or in the driveway. There is no street parking for guests.
WILL I HAVE TO SHOVEL SNOW?
Guests are responsible for removing snow should it snow prior or during their stay. If snow removal is necessary, the host will provide guests with snow removal service contact information so that the guests can have the snow removed before their arrival. Shovel(s) are provided should guests want to remove the snow themselves during their stay. For safety and liability reason do not hire snow removal services from people walking by with shovels advertising door to door.
CAN I BRING MY DOG(S)?
The vacation rental is dog friendly, and well behaved dog(s) and their owners whom abide by the leash laws and pick-up after their dog(s) are welcome.
IS THERE A FENCED YARD OR SECURED DECK FOR MY DOG?
I HAVE A LARGE GROUP, CAN WE HAVE MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY?
No, max occupancy is strictly enforced. Booking guests will be asked to confirm number of all guests including kids and infants.
DO I HAVE TO TAKE MY TRASH HOME WITH ME?
No, the cleaning fee covers trash removal.
DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN SHEETS AND TOWELS?
No, the cleaning fee covers basic laundry services. Clean sheets and towels are provide.

IS THERE A GROCERY STORE IN TOWN TO BUY FOOD?
There is a small market in Running Springs called Jensen's, but it is more like a convenient store. It is recommended that guests purchase food prior to coming up the mountain. There is a super Walmart conveniently located at the base of the mountain at highland Ave. & Hwy 330.
ARE SPICES / CONDIMENTS PROVIDED?
No, guests are encouraged to bring their own spices and condiments.
DO YOU HAVE A LIST OF ALL THE KITCHEN WARES?
No, a list of kitchen items is not provided. The kitchen appliances include standard size gas stove / oven, and frig/freezer. small appliances including electric hot water kettle, french press, etc.... The kitchen is stocked with basic cooking wares like pots, pans, dishes, and utensils.
DO YOU HAVE A BBQ?
CAN I HAVE A BONFIRE OUTSIDE?
No. Due to fire safety reasons, outside fires are prohibited.
CAN I USE THE FIREPLACE?
No. The fireplace is inoperable.

IS THERE A/C?
No, the cabin is located in the mountains at 6000' altitude, and therefore can be up to 15 degrees cooler than sea level. The cabin can get warm in the summer. Open windows and doors for ventilate.
ARE THERE ANY TV, CABLE, DVD, OR VHS PLAYERS?
No. However, there is an awesome stereo system with a large selection of tapes and CD's.
