The SpaceOur 1952 ranch-style home is a prime example of a tasteful and efficiency minded renovation. The custom mattress, which is on the floor now, is about the same size as a full-size bed but slightly shorter in length. We do have a cot that can be used in the bedroom. Please let us know in advance if you need the cot. You are welcome to make meals in our kitchen. The grocery store is a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive away. There is also a corner store across the street that makes sandwiches and pizza. ****Please be aware that if you list only your name and no other information about yourself in your profile and you don't have any reviews, we will decline your request to stay. We don't feel comfortable renting the room to perfect strangers. Thank you for respecting this request.**** There is parking for in the driveway.****Airbnb has helped fund our new patio, kitchen upgrades, 4 cords of wood and a full tank of oil. We love the sharing economy!**** Guest AccessOur kitchen is your kitchen. Our basement media room and home gym is also available. We heat with wood. We have a mountain bike and a cyclecross bike as well as a fully equipped canoe and 17' solo sea kayak available. We also have hiking poles. Please let us know in advance if you would like to use any of our outdoor equipment. Interaction with GuestsMy partner, Stefen, has Mondays and Tuesdays off work. We have two adorable long-haired cats. The male, Hercules, is a cuddlebug, while JamieLee will greet you at the door. Neither cat has been declawed. We adopted an English Pointer mix puppy in July. She is very sweet but does bark. Her name is Dixie. Luke is our basement tenant's dog. He too barks when first meeting guests. Please be wary of cats trying to escape during good weather. Do not let them out. The NeighborhoodNot only is our home convenient, it is also located in a walkable neighborhood. You can stroll into our historic downtown to visit the Saco Historical Museum and Dyer Library and several boutiques and restaurants, or take a slightly longer walk to the Mill District and have a wonderful al fresco meal on the Saco River at the Run of the Mill. ***There is a boat launch less than a mile from the house at the Saco River. You can easily launch the canoe further upriver and enjoy a lazy 4 hour canoe/fishing/swimming trip downriver. A fishing license is required. Motor boats are allowed on the Saco and, of course, on the ocean. *** There are multiple easy hiking areas nearby. We are two miles to the Saco Heath and 5 miles to the Horton Woods hiking trails. More strenuous hiking trails are about an hour's drive away. (The famous Acadia National Park is a 3.5 hour drive from Saco.) *** If you enjoy bicycling, we are just 3 blocks from the Eastern Trail hiker/biker pathway. This trail is part of the East Coast Greenway. You can enjoy a beautiful journey from our house Northward through Scarborough Marsh to South Portland's Bug Light Park on Casco Bay (near Portland) or Southward to Kittery's Piscataqua River. It is about a 2 hour one-way bike ride from our home to Portland. ***Funtown/Splashdown, Aquaboggan, Monkey Trunks Ropes Course & Ziplines are all within a 10 minute drive. ***The famous Old Orchard Beach and it's amusement park is within a pretty 10 minute drive. ***Sebago Lake is a 40 minute drive away. Getting AroundThe Amtrak station is a 15 minute walk from our house. There is limited public transportation to Portland from downtown Saco. Please look up the Zoom bus online. We do recommend renting a car because taxis can be expensive. Other Things to NotePlease do not take the driveway with the white mail boxes marked 101. Ours is the second driveway on the left after turning from Bradley St. Our house is the little gray one. Please count the telephone poles on the left. Our driveway is between the second and third poles. Look for a blue Subaru and/or silver Ford Ranger in the driveway. If you find yourself on the long driveway to a duplex behind our house, please back out and take a right, then then another right, into our driveway. We do not own the duplex. The owner is frustrated with airbnb folks showing up there. Longer term rental of the room is available to with college and graduate students or their family members as well as visiting nurses and other professionals.

We are walking distance to a tiny but decent, real deal Venezuelan restaurant (Luis's Arepera and Grill), and a short distance beyond that from the closest large grocery store, Shaw's Supermarket. Historic downtown Saco is just 1 mile from the house, and the area's best restaurant-pub, featuring live music and located in a beautiful old former brick mill building (hence it's name, Run of the Mill), is just 1.5 miles away. Getting AroundThe new-ish, completely "green" Saco Amtrak station, complete with the town's only windmill, is about 2 miles away, and features a gorgeous building with locally made furniture. There is a seasonal Amtrak stop to Old Orchard Beach - next town over from Saco - as well as a year round stop in Portland, and of course, the train goes all the way to Boston as well. The local shuttle runs from Biddeford into Saco and Old Orchard Beach for $1.25 each way. The commuter "Zoom" bus picks up about 1 mile from the house and takes you directly downtown Portland with just one stop, for 5 bucks each way. Of course, there is always Uber! Other Things to NoteCheck in is 5:15pm weekdays because we work, but 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. Checkout time is 11am.

The SpaceThis adorable cottage has absolutely new everything! We recently purchased this property, located in the backyard of the main house, and brought it back to life! It is the last remaining cottage of four that used to reside on the property when it was a thriving cottage business many years ago. Inside, it a lot bigger than it appears in the picture. The front bedroom has a queen sized bed, bureau, and chair, with plenty of space to move around. The back bedroom easily fits the two twin beds, one of which is a trundle, so plenty of storage underneath. The bathroom is all new as well, with an oversized shower stall with seat, and brand new washer/dryer. The kitchen/living area is absolutely adorable, with a surprising amount of storage and leg room! It is all nestled under the canopy of a gorgeous Beach tree, with a huge yard in front. Feel free to bring outside games and have a blast! Don't rule out Fall and Winter here! September and October near the beach are some of the best months, especially if you are looking for a quiet getaway! The winter months are great for cross country skiing or snow shoeing through The State Park or local golf courses. Don't forget about Christmas Prelude in Kennebunkport! Guest AccessAccess to huge yard, grill, picnic table. Feel free to bring bikes and take advantage of tons of scenic riding! Interaction with GuestsWe are on property, so always available The NeighborhoodQuiet neighborhood, but certainly an area of constant activity! We are on the beach route, so there are plenty of people out and about all the time. Really fun! Getting AroundThere is no public transportation per se, but the trolley does run seasonally around the beach areas!

The perfect setting for extended vacation, long-term work assignments, study, or visiting family. My home is located in a beautiful new neighborhood of families and retirees, only 6 years old. The outstanding feature of the property is location, location, location and Lobster. Old Orchard Beach, Maine's longest (10 miles) and most fun and famous beach is only 2.5 miles away by local in-town road. Getting to other beaches in Scarborough, Kennebunk, Wells-Ogunquit and York is easy as he house is only 2 miles from the I-95 highway. So getting to Portsmouth, NH (45 miles), Boston (95 miles) and Portland (15 miles) makes some nice day-trips a snap. All three of these cities offer unique cultural, recreational, and leisure attractions. Don't want to drive? No problem. Amtrak is only 2 miles away in downtown Saco with numerous runs to Portsmouth and Boston every day. On your way to the beach you'll pass Dune Grass Country Club(1.5 miles), only one of a dozen excellent golf courses within a 20 mile radius. Had enough of the ocean? Want a fresh-water experience? Sebago lake and many other smaller lakes abound within an hour's drive; not to mention camping, hiking, boating, cycling and looking at Maine's abundant wild-life. Portsmouth, the Kennebunks and Portland offer some of the finest restaurants in the northeast. If that's not enough, travel up to mid-coast Maine to the Camden, Rockland, Rockport area for even more fine dining, wineries, and mid-coast Maine experiences(about 2 hours by auto one-way). Shopping? On the way up to the mid-coast you'll pass Freeport, home of LL Bean (open 24/7/365) and dozens of top-brand outlet retailers. A day trip to Freeport to the north, or Kittery outlets to the south (including the Kittery Trading Post) is only 40 miles each one-way. The Maine Mall is on the way north as well, only 12 miles north in South Portland; Cabellas in Scarborough, (10 min) The house is located 1/2 mile from Rte 1, where there is a super-market, restaurants, antiques, movies, the Eastern Trail a cycling and walking trail, Fun-Town water-park, a rope-climbing park, and Enterprise car-rental if you need a car. Uber service is available as well. The house is a split level or split ranch only 6 years old with recent upgrades. It features hardwood and tile floors in the living areas and carpets in the bedrooms. Upper level contains an open concept kitchen-dining-living room area, 3 bedrooms, and full bath. Lower level contains entertainment center, living room couch and chair, desk and chair, 3/4 bathroom and washer-dryer. The house is nicely conceived so bedrooms are away from common rooms to accommodate differing sleep habits. Outside is nicely landscaped, wooded behind the house, wide drive-way, and back deck with grille.
