The SpaceThe Garden Room on the 1st floor is a classic Zen-like room with an Asian inspired decor available for SEASONAL vacation rentals (NO Breakfast, just coffee, tea, instant oatmeal, microwave & mini-fridge). Designed by Flora as a 2005 addition. It utilizes the Japanese small space concept: efficient and effective use of every inch of space. The 5 windows and glass patio doors bring in much natural light which can be controlled by room darkening curtains. Additional glass blocks & shoji screen-like door bring the light further into the bath area. Guests feel like they are nestled in a corner of the garden and is in harmony with nature. The Garden room has a private entrance that opens out to the Japanese garden. Accommodation features a queen bed, a sitting area, a desk & chair, small fridge, microwave, cups/mugs, and a private bath with a tub/shower combination. The shower has a pull-out handheld massage shower head. We use only hotel quality premium down and 100% cotton bedding. The rooms are equipped with hair dryers, extra towels and toiletries. The room provides easy access to garden lounging. Guest AccessDriveway, room, garden. Interaction with Guestsminimal. The NeighborhoodCentrally located inn the heart of Salem Massachusetts, on a quiet little street between the Salem Common and the North River called Bridge Street Neck, a National Historical District. The Salem Train Depot is just a couple of blocks (less than 10 minute walk) away to take you into Boston in 30 minutes or North to scenic Cape Anne (Gloucester, Rockport). We're a short walk to the Salem Common, Salem's ocean / waterfront, Derby Wharf, Pickering Wharf, Salem Maritime National Historic Site, the world class Peabody Essex Museum, Witch museums and all major attractions, fine restaurants, and quaint local shops. Most people just park the car and walk. Check-out is at 11:00AM Getting Around10-15 minute walk to Salem Train/Bus Depot. Salem taxis are available to call. Other Things to NoteThis is a home, not a commercial 24/7 staffed facility. Please text/call me on my cell phone only between 8AM-9PM if you have any questions or issues. I prefer text/calls to ringing the door bell as that might wake up others in the main house. Thank you in advance. Check-out is 11:00AM.

The room has a full sized bed, bureau, closet, rocking chair and a desk. Our home is located very close to downtown Salem and the commuter rail to Boston/Rockport. Guest AccessWe have a beautiful back garden which includes an inground swimming pool and a hot tub. You are welcome to use these for relaxing and cooling off/ heating up! We will provide a simple breakfast each morning and allow you access to the Keurig whenever you want coffee or tea. Interaction with GuestsWe are both retired I was a teacher and Denis was a social worker. We love being at home and enjoying our family. We do have family in Ireland and have visited there often and stayed at many B & B's over there. We want you to have a relaxing visit to our historic city. We look forward to meeting you. The NeighborhoodWe live in a friendly residential neighborhood. There are always people out walking their children or their dogs. There is a beautiful cemetery just a block away that is a miniature version of Central Park in NYC. Our home is three houses up from the river which is an inlet from Salem Harbor. We have lived here for 37 years and don't plan to ever leave. Our home and yard is our little bit of heaven.

The Spacea cozy room, street/basement level in private home with separate entrance, private bath with shower, refrigerator, microwave, coffee/tea maker.. queen bed (upgrade from double bed), but can accomodate a third person if necessary on a small pull-out couch .. on a main road, one mile from downtown Salem, train station, on bus route... features many restaurants in close proximity.. walk to downtown Salem where Peabody Essex Museum is located along with Derby/Pickering Wharfs, Salem Maritime Center, Witch Museum and much more...many shops along the way. Salem is a coastal town, located near many area beaches ... in summer, enjoy free concerts at The Willows Park right on the ocean and in August, a 2-day free Soul & Jazz Festival with incredible musicians from all over the globe in our little city ... we now have 'wireless'! and we've just added an air conditioner for the room ... *in the winter months, we have free on-street parking but in event of snow parking bans (mostly Jan-Mar) guests would have to park on sidewalk as there is no parking lot we can offer. Parking bans only take effect IF there is a plowable amount of snow and the city declares a 'snow-emergency'* Guest Accesswireless access for phones, computers ... fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee/tea maker, breakfast items (cereals, eng. muffins, yogurt, juice, etc.) some toiletries available, towels, bath mats, face cloths, etc., extra pillow, blanket ... cable TV with about a dozen channels ... Interaction with GuestsWe try to be here when guests arrive and depart but if not possible, we make arrangements for them to let themselves in to the guest space and to check out easily ... for the most part, we give our guests their own private space and are here if they have any questions or needs ... The NeighborhoodWe are in a 'working-class' neighborhood, with some businesses alongside single/multi-family homes .. our street can be busy but the location of the guest room affords a good amount of peace and quiet ... free on-street parking, usually right in front of our home and a friendly, safe neighborhood where folks walk to and from downtown a lot... Getting Aroundwe are a 20-min walk to the center of Salem, and we are on a bus route that picks up passengers right down the street ... taxi service is affordable and quickly accessed, or guests can drive to downtown in about 5 min. Other Things to NoteBecause we are located on a major road in to the city, there is a fair amount of street traffic but the plus side of this is there is ample free on-street parking and usually right in front of our house. Our neighborhood is a mix of private and rented residences as well as small businesses along the street, we call it a 'working-class neighborhood'. It's not the most 'scenic' street in Salem but it is safe and friendly ... and just a mile from the downtown area, a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk Also, we are in the process of adopting a new kitten, so there will be a few extra little feet pitter-pattering around above where guest room is located. Our other two cats are older and more mellow but wanted to let folks know about our 'new addition' coming soon! By the way, we don't let the cats down in to the 'guest room', we keep them up in our living quarters above the guest room 'apartment'.

The SpaceI LOVE meeting people and I LOVE to travel. Having been an AirBnB host and AirBnb guest for a while now, I take pride in being a gracious host. It kind of feels like a little bit of the world comes to visit me in Salem, MA. I enjoy offering those special little touches like ordering locally made chocolates, or caramels, jams and bagels or bread, providing tourist books in your room, fresh flowers available upon your arrival. Hotel quality sheets & towels, are also provided. NOTE: A television is not provided, but with the high speed internet it is easy to find what you are looking for in terms of entertainment or news on your laptop, computer or device. This is a TV FREE home. Actually, this might be a shock but its kind of nice being off the grid when you think about it. You get your own small fridge because many visitors stay for at least five days. Of course there is coffee, tea, orange juice and spring water available to quench your thirst. If I happen to have a pot of home made soup on the stove, I'm always happy to Share the LOVE. I'm am fastidious about food preparation, so I can assure you I continuously wash my hands and surfaces during food prep. Having hosted guests from 5 different continents is like having the world come to me. It's such an honor to have a 5 STAR Rating in 5 Categories. I think being a Super Host is the bees knees. The home does have curb appeal and the apartment basically has a comfortable colorful and bohemian look and feel. FREE Laundry room with washer and dryer Very Clean, Very Quiet, Calm & Peaceful home. This is a NO SMOKING DRUG FREE home. There is NO SMOKING of any kind in, on or around the immediate property. This apartment is in a nice home on the 1st floor. NOTE: Your guest room has its own dedicated entrance from the front of the house and dedicated door with dead bolt locks and door nob locks to the rest of the apartment. Public Transportation is available at the corner of the street. The 459 bus leaves directly from Boston Logan Airport and stops at the corner of the street. It is easy to walk to the beach and just as easy to check out cultural or historic attractions by foot, bicycle, by public bus or by vehicle. Guest AccessGuests will be given a key to their bedroom, the house and the apartment. Guests have access to the kitchen, living room, bathroom and the first floor and second floor porches. Guests are welcome to use the free washer and dryer and stove with a request. Guests have their own small fridge for their convenience and their own use. WiFi Password will be provided upon arrival. Interaction with GuestsThe majority of guests come to be tourists. They are usually out and about during the day and only come back for quiet R & R, a clean room with clean linens & fresh towels to lay their had on at night. I am a professional, positive, open minded, friendly person but I am very, very respectful of privacy. I like to call myself the blue haired goddess of unconditional friendliness. I like conversation but I am not a chatter box. I am well aware of the rich history, fine dining, art and cultural activities Salem, MA has to offer and can easily direct a guest to any place of interest. I also know of Salem's best kept secrets that only locals know of. I committed many years to having a positive impact on the local art and culture scene in Salem and have a page dedicated to my passion in the book "Legendary Locals of Salem, MA." I go to Africa to do humanitarian work every few years and have always loved meeting individuals from other places. It is my intention that my guests are comfortable, have a positive experience and pleasant memories. I make sure I am easily accessible by phone or text if my guests have any questions or are looking for recommendations. The NeighborhoodThis home is located in a very safe & the very desirable Forest River Park neighborhood . The home is walking distance to Salem State University, Forest River Park, Salem 1630 Pioneer Village and downtown Salem. Plus we are only about a one minute walk to a private beach. There is always plenty of street parking on this extra wide street. Please do not park directly in front of the house unless you are unloading suitcases. The 3rd floor tenants will need to carry groceries into the house and need to park in front of the house. You will easily find additional street parking after suitcases are unloaded. Getting AroundFor a minimal fee of $55 each way and with at least a 24 hour notice I can pick you up and drop you off to the airport if needed. If you want to rent my car, as long as it is available I can rent it out for $35 per day. A public bus stop is on the corner of the main street only two houses up from this home and less than 100 feet from the front porch. This home is easy to get to from Boston Logon Airport with a GPS. My house is about a 1 minute walk to the beach. Actually the beach is only 500 feet from my home. It is a 3 to 5 minute car or bus ride, or 7 to 10 minute bike ride, or 15 to 20 minute walk to historic down town Salem, MA. The Commuter Rail is minutes from the home and a taxi can pick you up at the Salem train depot and drive you to the home for approximately $6 or $7. Other Things to NoteI have a very small, very sweet, well behaved dog named Jam A Jam. He is not yappy and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. Jam A Jam stays in my room at night. When you come into the home you cannot tell that a pet lives here. It looks clean, smells clean and is kept clean. My dog gets groomed on a regular basis. There is a jacuzzi/hot tub that I purchased for my own physical therapy in the back yard. I am currently extending the use of the jacuzzi/hot tub to guests as something special beyond the accommodations. As I am just feeling this out, in terms of offering the jacuzzi/hot tub I have priced my AirBnB rooms as if the jacuzzi/hot tub were not a part of the deal. As long as a shower is taken prior to use of the jacuzzi/hot tub and common courtesy is respected in terms of modesty, cleanliness and holding quiet conversations, then I will be happy to continue to make the hot tub available. Bathing Suits must be warn. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I do. Lets keep it that way for everyone. Hot Tub is SHUT OFF: SUN to THUR 9pm to 8am FRI to SUN 11pm to 9am

The SpaceThe Henry Derby House was first opened by our mother Peg in 2001. What makes our place special has always been Peg's stories at breakfast and the beautiful window boxes in the summer. My wife Jocelyn and I have been running the B&B since 2012 and we have tried to keep the same feel. Our goal is to provide a home away from home for our guests and make them feel like they are part of the family while they are staying with us. As of 2016 the HDH is now a full house vacation rental, and no longer a B&B. We now live right next door at the John Edwards House. Guest AccessGuests have access to the whole house except for the basement. There is a family room, kitchen, dining room, and living room on the first floor. There are 2 couches and some chairs and rocking chairs in the living room where our guests can relax and plan their day/ evening or just sit and chat. In the dining room there is a table that seats 6. The family room has 2 couches and a table that seats 8. There are four bedrooms and 2 baths on the second floor, and 2 small bedrooms on the third floor as well as a small play room. The garden out back is a beautiful place to relax in the summer amongst the rose and hydrangea bushes. Interaction with GuestsJocelyn and I are available at different times during the day but we are never far away. We do both work other full time jobs so we are always busy but we do try to find time to interact with all of our guests during the course of their stay. We live right next door so we are usually available if our guests need something or have questions about the house. The NeighborhoodWe are located in the McIntire district which is right outside of downtown Salem. We are only steps to the Witch House on North/Essex streets and the Phillips House on Chestnut st. It is only a 5-10 minute walk to the Peabody Essex and Witch Museums, as well as the T which can take you into Boston or up to Rockport. The furthest attraction would be the House of Seven Gables which is about a 15 minute walk. There are also countless bars and restaurants all very close in walking distance. You could easily park your car at the house and spend a week without having to drive. Getting AroundWe have a driveway with 2 off street parking spots available if you want to leave your car for your stay, and there is plenty of off street parking on Summer and Gedney streets right next to the house. We are less than a 10 minute walk to the commuter train that goes into Boston as well as the bus station. The Salem Ferry which also goes into Boston is about a 15 minute walk, but I would recommend driving there because there is plenty of parking on site. All of Salem's attractions are in walking distance from our property, as we are only one block off of the downtown. Other Things to NoteThere are stories that this house is haunted, and it is one of the spots on a local ghost tour. We do not confirm or deny the presence of a ghost on the property but we do have some pretty good stories. :)
