The SpaceThis is a place for families to interact. There are a lot of family games and small town site seeing. It is a town like "Mayberry". It is not suitable for other abled access. The SpaceOur mountain retreat combines the rustic 1950's original house with a beautiful stone fireplace (gas logs), open floor plan with a large bedroom with 1/2 bath and small bedroom with a single bed (we call this the 1/2 bedroom) and full bath on the first floor along with the modern addition upstairs. A spiral staircase leads to a romantic master suite with 2 decks, wet bar w/ fridge, sitting room with a writing desk and two sleeping or meditation spaces in the eaves - perfect for children, and a spacious bathroom with walk in shower with pebble floors. In the basement is the laundry area, but much more fun: PING PONG. There is also a queen size futon in the living room. We think the abundance of windows and surrounding hard woods feels like being in a tree house. Our cottage is ideal for a couple or two and perhaps some children. It's a cozy, small, and intimate space. Important Note: there is WIFI, but there are no TVs. Guest AccessGuests may enjoy our entire home, the country roads in our community and full access to Lake Hosea and all of the surrounding docks. Non-motorized boats are welcome in Lake Hosea, so bring your kayaks, canoes, SUPs, etc. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to interact via phone or email. And 30 minutes away is eclectic Asheville. Hiking, zip-lining and rafting opportunities abound in this area. Getting AroundWalking, driving and biking are the best ways to get around. The SpacePerfect for a BFF getaway, our bunk room has been designed like old-fashioned berths on a train. The room accommodates up to four individuals and each person gets a bed, drawers, and a desk. Guests use a new full-bath that has a to-die-for view of the Blue Ridge mountains. We are conveniently located near I-26 and close to all western NC adventures. Breakfast is included. There is a lounge area w/ a small fridge for beverages. Your stay includes use of our expansive front porch (not screened) with rockers, a back deck, a private entrance to the bunk room. The 4-acre property has a short trail for private meditation or to enjoy the sound of the small creek . Free wifi is available. Again, breakfast is included! We are just off I-26, and close to kayaking, canoeing, tubing, zip-lining, hiking, etc. The equestrian center in Tryon, NC is minutes away. Our home is the perfect base for 1-night or many during your visit to WNC. Guest AccessGuests have their own entrance and can use the back deck, front porch, and grounds to relax in addition to their personal living space. (There are no parties allowed and unregistered guests are not allowed without prior arrangements.) Interaction with GuestsAs experienced travel professionals, we aim to make our guests comfortable. The NeighborhoodWe love the secluded and remote feeling on our property yet is just minutes away. Closer if your count downtown Saluda! There are paths for a short hike on our property and a small running creek, which makes excellent background sounds for meditating or just sitting and reading. Getting AroundThere is little public transportation. The closest airports are Asheville, NC, Greenville, SC. Charlotte, NC is about 1.5 hours away. There are buses and trains in Spartanburg, SC. You do need a car to get around as the primary mode of transportation is highway. We have a large courtyard entry that offers ample free parking. We are about 40 min. from either Asheville or Greenville (SC). The closest city is Hendersonville and it is only 15 minutes from our front door. Other Things to NoteWe have a friendly dog, Rocky, who is a boxer. If you have allergies our place may not be the one for you. Otherwise, he will love meeting you!

Lake Hosea is a small lake surrounded by homes where privacy and space are a given and the only call you answer to is the song of the winds, the freedom of the birds, with all the comforts of home. Saluda Vista is a completely renovated 1975 contemporary cottage style home. All of the orange carpeting and avocado appliances were replaced with beautiful bamboo flooring and a modern kitchen with GE Slate appliances, quartz countertops, and custom cabinetry. The large counter height dining table seats 8 comfortably, while the luxurious sectional sofa allows families to gather together around the fireplace. The maple of the mantle was handpicked at a local sawmill because of its' beautiful grain, while a local woodcrafter honed it to a natural rustic finish which enhances the knots and wormholes. The 55” flat screen TV mounted over the mantle has access to Dish Network and Netflix. Two master bedrooms with en suite baths are located on either side of this main level allowing privacy for two couples or family members.The first of the masters boasts a king size bed, 40” flat screen TV, walk in closet, and private sitting area. The bath has a double vanity and full size tub with a marble subway surround and a marble basketweave tile floor. The curved shower rod and the glass block window make the tub feel quite spacious.The second master bedroom is the “room with a view” as the corner windows look out over Lake Hosea. This bedroom also has a king size bed, seating area, and 32” flat screen TV.The large walk in shower tiled in travertine and accented with glass mosaic tile is the eye-grabbing feature of this bathroom. In addition to the huge open concept kitchen/dining/living room and the two master bedrooms with baths, the main level also has a half bath located right inside the door leading to the 12x36 deck which runs the whole width of the back of the house. With a great view of Lake Hosea, this is “the spot” to host family dinners. Two tables provide dining for 8, while the charcoal grill invites the bar-b-q master to try his/her hand. Down the stairs is yet a third bedroom with a king size bed, seating, and a 40 inch flat screen television. The bath right across the hallway features a HUGE walk in shower with a bench and a rainfall shower head.The laundry room with full size washer and dryer occupies the last space on the lower level. With a walk out to a seating area under the deck above, this area also has a nice water view. We have a 5 person paddle boat available for guest use from April through October. A brand new 6 peroson Dr. Wellness hot tub was installed in December 2015. It sits on a private deck and is ready for you to soak! Be sure to check out our other property, Mountain Vista Retreat, in Hendersonville, NC. The Lake Hosea area is a small community of single family homes grouped around the picturesque lake, which is home to several different kinds of waterfowl. The lake has a road around its' 1/2 mile circumference, offering guests a great spot to walk. Saluda Vista sits on a hillside overlooking the lake.

      The SpaceThe space is kept cat free! We have to resident indoor/outdoor short hair felines. We are sensitive to allergies that our guest may have to we have removed rugs and don't allow cats upstairs. We have a 5 person paddleboat available for use from April through October. Interaction with GuestsWe are available to guests for questions and concerns, if any. I always call the morning after arrival to ensure guest satisfaction, but guests are free to enjoy their privacy at the house. The NeighborhoodLake Hosea is one of the most peaceful areas. Because the lake is for non-motorized watercraft, you don't hear the noise from jet skis or speedboats. The mist that enshrouds the lake in the morning is beautiful and comforting. Getting AroundA vehicle is necessary to travel to Saluda Vista. There is free parking with space for three cars in the driveway, plus a detached carport. Other Things to NoteSome of my favorite things about Saluda Vista are the beautiful plantings on the property. We have mature azaleas, trees, and flowers that put on quite a dazzling show. The lake normally has several different varieties of ducks and there are lots of other birds in the area.

      The NeighborhoodThere is so much to do in the area. With one of the best rivers for white water kayaking, or tubing. Since the begining of the 20th century,Saluda has been a favorite vacation destination. If you are looking for an escape from the high temperatures or a place to escape from the hectic pace of life, Saluda NC is the place. The area has some of the most scenic beauty and fresh mountain air. Come discover one of Western North Carolina's hidden jewels. Nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Saluda is a great place to enjoy all that it has to offer throughout the year. It is convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Hendersonville, Tryon, Asheville, Biltmore Estate and the surrounding wilderness and many trails. Saluda invites you to visit for a day, a week, or longer. There is one of the best Zip Lines on the east coast at The Gorge and some of the best white water for kayaking on The Green River. Getting AroundWe have plenty of on site parking and enough room for your kayaks for running on the Green River. Other Things to NoteWe are located 5 minutes off the Saluda exit of I-26 which makes it easy for exploring the area. We are about 15 minutes from Historic Hendersonville. We are about 35 minutes from Asheville and the historic Biltmore Estate. We are about a 25 minute drive to the Hendersonville/Asheville Regional airport, 50 minutes to Greenville Airport and 90 minutes to the Charlotte Airport.

Our property is wooded with expansive mountain views. Saluda has great restaurants and shops. You can also find a place that takes you kayaking on rapids, zip lining, and other fun outdoorsy activities. We are glad to make recommendations for local favorites. Getting AroundA car is necessary. Airports: Asheville, NC (AVL) and Greenville, SC (GSP) are fairly close. Charlotte is about 1.5 hours away.       The SpaceChalet She'lah (named by our then 5 year old who mispronounced Lake Sheila as She'lah) is a special property full of charm. The 2.5 acre yard is a treasure throughout the year with blooms throughout spring and summer, blueberries, fall leaves, hidden bird houses, and peaceful quiet except for the sound of woodpeckers. It's a short walk to the private, spring-fed lake where you can enjoy canoeing, fishing, paddle boarding, or swimming around by the dock. A picnic area with tables and umbrellas is lakeside. The town of Saluda is a charming, historic town with a general store, fine dining and casual restaurants, clothing shops, art gallery, beer pub, fine crafts and books, a playground, and an organic bakery. Nearby is access to waterfalls, rivers, mountain adventures such as ziplining and rafting, and hiking. Guest AccessEnjoy full access to our house, including a well stocked kitchen, WiFi, canoe, life jackets, and more. Here's a fuller description: 4 BR, 3 BA, 2,100 sf situated on two floors includes 300 sf of screen porch and a side deck. The main upstairs living space features hardwood floors, two carpeted bedrooms, and two baths. The basement level features stone paving throughout, a second living area, two bedrooms and a shared bath. The basement level provides additional living space great for kids, teens, or watching AppleTV and movies. Features: Central HVAC, Two wood-burning fireplaces, fully stocked kitchen. Neighbors are nearby and friendly, but there are very few cars that drive on Haven Dr., making it a quiet, peaceful retreat. The lake is a short walk from the house, and our canoe is stored at the lake for easy access. A paddle board is also available for use. Or just plunge in the clean waters during the warm months! Downtown Saluda, a charming town with great food, art, beer, and music is a short 10 minute drive away. Many hiking trails and waterfalls are nearby. With a great view of Lake Hosea, this is “the spot” to host family dinners. Two tables provide dining for 8, while the charcoal grill invites the bar-b-q master to try his/her hand. Down the stairs is yet a third bedroom with a king size bed, seating, and a 40 inch flat screen television. The bath right across the hallway features a HUGE walk in shower with a bench and a rainfall shower head.The laundry room with full size washer and dryer occupies the last space on the lower level. With a walk out to a seating area under the deck above, this area also has a nice water view. We have a 5 person paddle boat available for guest use from April through October. A brand new 6 peroson Dr. Wellness hot tub was installed in December 2015. It sits on a private deck and is ready for you to soak!           The Falls Getaway “My family and I had the best time staying in this cabin. The natural views were outstanding and the interiors were gorgeous! The kids loved making s'mores at the outdoor fire-pit, exploring the waterfall & venturing up & down the river. My husband and I enjoyed the beauty of our surroundings while relaxing in the rocking chairs on the porch, or sitting down by the fire-pit area next to the river. Saluda, Hendersonville & even Asheville are all nearby and we went into each town for some sightseeing, shopping and dining. You could stay for amonth and not begin to see & do everything.             What a great girls weekend! “We spent a girls weekend at Saluda Loft and had such a wonderful time! It was clean and decorated to a “T.” We couldn’t believe how spacious it was and yet, so cozy. We went to a local place for dinner, Saluda Grade Cafe, and everyone was so welcoming and friendly AND it was within walking distance. The kitchen was well equipped, so we stayed in and cooked one night. Also found a great place for Sunday brunch, The Wildflour Bakery…no word to describe how great it was.             The SpaceOur guest suite is nestled in a garden setting which has been designated a National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat. The suite, ideal for one or two adults, includes sitting, dining, and sleeping areas, a fully equipped galley kitchen, and a bath. Because the suite is available year round, central heating and air conditioning are included for comfort. We provide complimentary coffees, teas and sweeteners, all linens, and daily housekeeping. Guests have wireless internet access and cable television. On request, a complimentary light breakfast can be included and would be served in the suite. The bay window in the sitting area offers not only a fine view of the garden but also an opportunity to watch the several species of birds that come to the feeder and ones that feed on the ground. Guests can also spend time in the swing just outside their door, on a garden bench under the canopy of a two hundred year old chestnut oak, and in other sitting areas in the garden that fills the grounds. A special feature of a stay in the suite is being wakened on a Sunday morning by the bell of the historic nineteenth century Episcopal Church next door. With Saluda's restaurants and shops just a block away (but a world away), guests can easily enjoy time on Main Street. And, when they want to venture further, they can follow the self-guided walks in town and in the countryside and the self-guided drives in the surrounding area--guides created specifically for our guests. The completely GROUND LEVEL APARTMENT allows for ease with rolling and/or carrying suitcases in and out of the apartment. The 600 sq.ft. living space has an open floor plan, large bathroom and one large bedroom (queen-size bed). The efficiency kitchen is stocked with the essentials and has a full size refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster and coffee maker. The courtyard has a patio umbrella and outdoor seating. It's only 17 miles from the Tryon International Equestrian Center. Lake Lure, Biltmore Estate, Blue Ridge Parkway, Pearson's Falls, Dupont State Forest (Triple Falls), Pisgah National Forest, zip line at The Gorge, Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site in Flat Rock, and white water activities on the Green River. Many new micro breweries and wineries, including the new Sierra Nevada Brewing Company-Asheville are located short drives away.             The SpaceThe downstairs of the Carolina Cottage is function at its finest. The stained concrete floor (with radiant heat) and pine-board ceiling lend warmth to the living area and kitchen. The living area, complete with a comfy couch and a queen-size sofa sleeper, is purposefully arranged to maintain the cozy feeling of the cottage while providing additional space for accommodating young children. The kitchen includes a refrigerator/freezer, stove, microwave, and dishwasher, and is stocked with all you need for preparing a simple dinner in or ordering out. The upstairs bedroom, with king sized bed, is a large and accommodating space with unique architectural accents. The adjoining bath features an antique claw foot tub with shower. This relaxing spot will welcome you back after a great day of enjoying the mountains. As with most places in these beautiful mountains, you'll want to spend most of your daylight hours outside. And at the Carolina Cottage you can continue to enjoy the outdoors by hiking the trails found on the property, enjoying meals on the private deck, and having s'mores by the fire pit. PETS - Bringing a pet(s) may be possible if prior arrangements are made. An additional cleaning fee will be added, the cost depending on the type and number of pets and length of stay. A fenced yard is available. BETTER THAN GPS DIRECTIONS: Siri or whoever talks to you has not stayed here and really doesn't know the easiest way to get here. The most direct way is go towards Saluda after you get off I-26 (Exit 59). You'll be on "Ozone Drive". Go 1.0 miles and look for an arts and crafts store called "Random Arts" on the left - there's an eye-catching sign for the store on their fence. The store is on the corner of "Ozone Drive" and "Louisiana Ave." Turn left onto "Louisiana Ave". Go about 0.1 mile and look for a sign for "635" and "In Gratitude" and turn right down the driveway. (There is also a sign with a snail and the number 633 on it just past my sign. The driveway is between the two signs.) The house is at the end of the driveway."
