The SpaceThe retreat center property is nearly 4 acres. It has a beautiful river that runs through it, as well as ample garden space. There are plenty of flowers, birds and butterflies to look at for while you relax at the retreat center. IF you have never traveled to the area you might be interested in checking out some of the plant species we have. You can find cinnamon, mango, avocado, nance, guayaba, tamarind, yucca, limon, papaya, sugarcane, moringa, sapote, passion fruit, pineapple, among other plants, growing in our gardens. Guest AccessDuring your visit, you will have access to a garden space that is only for quests. There is also a restaurant on site that is open to the public, where you can purchase food if you desire. The area around the restaurant has various areas to relax along the river, which as a guest are also available to you. There is ample parking for anything from a motorcycle to a bus/camper. Interaction with GuestsMy wife and I live on site and will most likely be around during your visit. If we are not available, one of our knowledgeable staff will be here to show you your room and answer any questions you might have. The NeighborhoodWe are close to the sites of the Lake Yojoa region, while also being close to San Pedro Sula and the airport. While we are close to many important urban centers on the Northern Coast of Honduras, our area of the country still has a backwoods and relaxed feel to it. The neighborhood that the Retreat Center is in has only 14 families, which provides a safe and calm environment for guests to enjoy. While you will not have to deal with the hustle and bustle of the city, rural communities are often accompanied by the sounds of roosters crowing and dogs barking. For some this can be an interesting part of the Honduran experience, while for others it is an unfortunate annoyance. Getting AroundFrom San Pedro Sula, you can take the Mochito, Pena Blanca or Pulhapanzak bus routes to travel from the bus terminal to Rio Lindo. From there you can take a motortaxi (20 Lempiras per person for the 3 kilometer ride) to El Camino Retreat Center. If you are fortunate, you might be able to get the San Francisco de Yojoa bus from the terminal, which goes right by our property. Unfortunately this bus is the least frequent of the four options and it does not have an office window in the terminal. However this bus is easily taken from the retreat center returning to San Pedro Sula, as you can pick it up from the front gate. This bus will take you straight from our front gate to the SPS bus terminal. The bus travels to San Pedro Sula at 5am, 5:30am, 8am and at 1:30pm, giving you a number of direct options from the retreat center. If these times do not work for your schedule, then you can take a motortaxi to Rio Lindo, where buses leave for San Pedro ever 10 or 15 minutes. Other Things to NoteEl Camino Retreat Center is a Christian retreat center. There is always the possibility that the center will be holding an event during your visit. These however do not take place in the part of the property where quests stay. Regardless of whether or not there is an event occurring at the time of your visit, the focus of the center is to offer a relaxing quiet space for people to come and relax. Please be respectful of other guests by following the rules about no alcohol or drugs on the property, as well as the established quiet hours.
