The panoramic unobstructed view from Laguna Pointe is over thousands of acres of pristine National Forest. The comfortable home sits high on a ridge with mountain and big sky views in all directions. The home is secluded on ten private acres.
Jeffery, Coulter and Ponderosa pines are on the property along with oak and cedar trees. The pond brings a world of nature's enjoyment through the interactions of fish, frogs, birds and mammals. It is visited regularly by deer, turkeys, ducks and heron in addition to raccoons, foxes, coyotes and other nocturnal creatures. At this writing it is November, 2015 and the drought in San Diego County has been hard on the water level in the pond. It is very low now, but maybe it will fill with the rains expected this winter.
The home has an open floorplan with no wall separation between the living and dining rooms. This allows a span of about 33ft. from wall to wall in the main living area. The fireplace is in the living room along with the TV and comfortable seating areas. The nook just off the living room offers a wonderful view and seating for four to six. There is a fully stocked kitchen that includes all items necessary for preparation of a quaint meal for two, or to cook a large meal for a gang. The washer and dryer are in the laundry room, along with a vintage Astroids video game machine.
Down the hall are two large bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. The carpeted master bedroom at the end of the hall has mirrored wardrobe doors with plenty of storage space. There are two bathrooms. The private master bath includes a shower and separate tub along with double sinks. The second bathroom is across the hall from the second bedroom and has a sink and large shower.
Adjacent to the house is a large lawn area that is suitable for outdoor gathering and celebrations. This area has been used for weddings, receptions and other activities, including our personal 50th wedding anniversary with over 125 guests present. Outdoor cooking facilities are just out the back door and include both gas and charcoal BBQ's. a smoker and a large three bowl outdoor sink.
Approximately one mile away is the San Diego State University Observatory, featuring scheduled star parties and tours. The town of Laguna includes a unique gift shop within the General Store, two restaurants, a Post Office, Fire Department, well-stocked Forest Service Visitor Center, and a complete upscale outfitting shop.
The historic Julian commercial area is close by, and features many unique shops, restaurants and tourist attractions, including mine tours. Seasonally, Julian entertains visitors with plays, as well as the townâ€™s Apple Days and Bluegrass festivals.
Mt. Laguna Pointe is on private property and is the only LEGAL vacation rental on Mt. Laguna. The cabins in the area on Government leases or permits can not be rented. Others, that are advertised as being in Mt. Laguna, are actually in surrounding areas at lower elevations, down the mountain. Mt. Laguna Pointe, along with a few properties at the top of Palomar Mountain are the highest elevation vacation rentals in San Diego County.
Wooded Hill nature trail is within walking distance.
Pacific Crest trail is approximately three miles away.
