The SpaceThe cabin is situated in two acres of land facing the mountains (Sierras de Cordoba) roughly 1 km from the centre of San Esteban. We are 300 metres from the Dolores river, a beautiful mountain stream that flows all year round.
The land was once part of an old estate known as the Estancia del Buen Retiro , a once lavish mansion (the old diliapidated mansion stands less than 200 metres away) and grounds have been left to decay and slowly the land has been sold off. We were lucky to be able to buy roughly four years ago and have slowly been trying to transform the land since.
The cabin is a new build, it was completed in January 2016 and has been finished to a good standard with all necessary comforts . There are some lovely private areas next to the cabin under our mature pine trees and other spots were you get great views of the Sierras.
In 2013 we started building a fully equipped guitar making workshop, down at the bottom part of the land. The workshop features everything that is needed to build a guitar or other stringed instrument from start to finish guests are welcome to come and check out what we do. Guest AccessThe cabin is found at the highest part of our land and has 3000 m2 of space that you are free to use.
In the workshop I offer intensive guitar making courses that last roughly 2 weeks (10 working days). The course is open to absolute beginners and everything is provided materials, equipment and tuition if you are interested please check out our website for all the detail (URL HIDDEN) Interaction with GuestsWe let our guests enjoy the space as they so wish and we can provide local information and give ideas of what to do and where to go. We are always here so if you ever need anything during your stay we are always ready to help. The NeighborhoodSan Esteban is a small mountain village built up around the old railway line. In Argentina during the late 80's and 90's the extensive railway system was allowed to fall into disrepair and many lines ceased to exist. The railway line started in the provincial capital Cordoba and connected the villages and towns all the way up to Cruz del Eje and beyond.
The village still has the old railway station and many of the buildings associated with the line are still intact.
San Esteban is a small village with less than 800 inhabitants, there are three shops, the best one is the Carrizal grocery store which has literally everything you could want.
Every second sunday of the month the neighbours organise the Feria de San Esteban in the grounds of the station. The fair features many local crafts people, food producers, artists etc and live music all day performed by local musicians and from beyond. I personally do the sound with my own p.a system. The feria functions all the year round and is a lovely family event.
