The SpaceThe garden yard has privacy fencing in a secure, quiet neighborhood, but is also a few blocks from the campus of the City of Edinburg, Hidalgo County, and University of Texas Pan American. The second floor of our cottage has a large bedroom-sitting room, walk-in closet, full bath down the hall, and a balcony overlooking the garden & neighborhood. There is a separate HVAC system for the area. The room is furnished with shelves, table & chairs, desk, lighting, and a new queen bed. There is parking in the drive and street, quiet & secure. Guest AccessGuests have access through a stairs to the second floor balcony where there is an entry with a touchpad deadbolt. The stairs, and the fact that this is an older cottage may be a drawback for someone with a special access need. Most of the first floor is private but guests may use the kitchen for breakfast & cooking light meals as coordinated with the downstairs guest or occupant/owner - extensive, complex cooking is discouraged, though often long-term guests may have exceptional need when they have guests, etc. There are many good, inexpensive restaurants nearby. A full laundry area is available. Interaction with GuestsWe have stayed with may Airbnb hosts and are well reviewed and have hosted Airbnb guests at our other home. We are well reviewed there also. We enjoy visiting with guests & hosts, typically at the beginning or ending of the day. When we travel we are generally out and about and appreciate guest who enjoy a mix of socializing, having their own agenda, and privacy. We don't usually turn the whole house over to folks initially but let the interaction be guided by the evolving mutual comfort level. The NeighborhoodIts quiet, secure, has lots of park space and a walking or biking path the the University area and offices of City & County government. There is also a large grocery, restaurants, & hotels, stores, shops, library, within easy walking distance. Nearby McAllen & Harlingen have fine airports. Other Things to NoteIts true the Rio Grande Valley is a bird and butterfly watching area, especially during migrations.
