The SpaceA calm place to share with family and friends. At the lake side, here you can dive right into the water. Guest AccessGarden and common areas are shared. Interaction with GuestsSometimes the owners will be there. Never the less there is a couple who takes care of the house and they can take care of any questions or eventualities in the house. The NeighborhoodThe cabin is located on a road which goes around the lake. With few neighbors and the closest town 30 minutes away, this is a place to relax and isolate yourself from the world. There are small grocery stores and an array of restaurants offering tipical mexican food. We recomend you buy your groceries in advance. Here you can buy sodas, beer, ice, milk and simple things like that. Getting AroundA vehicle is indispensable. If you have a boat, there are two ramps that you can use. Jet Skies are strictly fobidden in the lake. Other Things to NoteYear round during the day the temperatures are pleasent. You can sit in the sun and swimm in the warm water of the lake. Only during the months of december and january, the temperatures are colder during the night. We reccomend to take jackets or sweaters with you.

The SpaceStaying at Rancho La Querencia gives oneself a chance to enjoy and be in contact with nature and yet it is ideally situated to visit nearby Tepic, Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta or the fantastic beaches of Chacala, San Blas and Guayabitos. The beautiful Laguna de Santa Maria del Oro is just 5 minutes away. The comfortable air conditioned accommodation has its own bathroom and kitchen with its own independant access. It has two double beds and there is a flat screen TV with CD and DVD. It sits amid landscaped gardens and the property is bordered by a stream. Guest AccessThere is a pool table, table football, hammocks and barbecue grills and two bicycles for use by guests. The wi-fi area is in front of my adjoining house. Guests may use and enjoy the recently built outside terrace and kitchen equipped with a clay oven for baking bread and pizzas, Interaction with GuestsI respect my guests privacy but am available to answer any questions or give travel advice. I will be very happy to act as a guide and accompany guests to local travel destinations as required. The NeighborhoodI love the peaceful laid back atmosphere and the beautiful scenery. I use this place as a base to visit many other nearby travel destinations. The Santa Maria del Oro lake and two incredible waterfalls are nearby. We reccomend the restaurant-bar"La Mojarra de Samao" located at the entrance to Koala Bungalows at Santa Maria del Oro lake for delicious meals and margaritas. Getting AroundThere are combis from Santa Maria del Oro that pass by Rancho La Querencia. I am willing to transport guests to and from the local town of Santa Maria del Oro. Other Things to NoteI am wiiling to meet you and provide transport from Santa Maria del Oro and/or (if you pay the gas for my car and tollroad fees) I offer to meet you at the Tepic bus station or the airport at Guadalajara or Puerto Vallarta.

The NeighborhoodThe village (pop 3000) is a very colourful collection of homes and small quaint (URL HIDDEN) can spend several days wandering, hiking, cycling or just watching the world go by in the local plaza, sampling local cuisine from vendors or restaurants. Santa Maria del Oro is also home to a community of Huichol Indians. They are known for their bead work, and yarn paintings. A large crater lake with homes and restaurants dotted around its shore. Is nearby.The lookout for the lake , 2.5 miles, or 6 kms out of town also has a great little Mexican restaurant where you can while away a leisurely lunch. The local artists sell wares each weekend. The local outdoor track field also has a great range of outdoor, free gym equipment for the exercise junkies. Getting AroundThe village is small and walkable with many hiking or biking options. A Van-taxi service between to Tepic City, runs all day long, along with a local van-taxi down to La Laguna, the splendid crater lake , lavishly coloured by natural minerals, for swimming, picnicking,and/or birdwatching ; migratory birds and butterflies abound. Or just relax, enjoy fresh fish at one of the restaurants that dot the lakeside, and enjoy a local tipple. Other Things to Note2 bicycles available. (no helmets, as the local traffic is seldom greater than 10 miles and hour,) Twitchers will be delighted by the range of raptors and other local and migratory birds. This agricultural village is quiet and in general life is lived in daylight hours. Excellent additional meals by request and in addition to tariff. Cooking classes held also on request, and in addition to tariff. We're in heart of sugar cane and agave country, with many tequilas to try.

Getting AroundThere are lots of minbuses that travel between Santa Maria del Oro and Tepic and a few that pass by the front of the house, going to and from Santa Maria del Oro and Cofradia. I am available with my car to facilitate your trips to and from Santa Maria del Oro. You may walk or take a bicycle ride to the lake, waterfalls and nearby villages. The SpaceThe comfortable trailer has its own equipped kitchen, a small TV , with a CD and DVD player, and there is a broadband internet connection. The nearby bathroom (15 paces away) is sometimes shared with guests staying in the rental room (some weekends) There is shaded parking just 10 paces away. You will be surrounded by landscaped gardens. There is a stream to the south of the property and there are several shade houses with a pool table, fusball, hammocks, and a laundry. Our comfortable air conditioned, fully furnished bungalow for up to four persons is brick built with a boveda roof and has two double beds, mini split air conditioner, TV with home theatre and DVD player, broadband internet access, separate kitchen, bathroom, terrace, and adjoining shade house with pool table. Kitchen has a refrigerator, stove with oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and all essential appliances. The house is surrounded by landscaped gardens that slope down to a stream, with ponds, and shade houses (one with a table football) many flowering plants, bushes and trees. There is an outside kitchen with a clay oven and barbecue grill. The house is situated in about 1 acre of landscaped gardens and it is ideal for persons who wish to have peace and quiet and who like to be in contact with nature. There is a great variety of birds and butterflies here and it is very relaxing. We are located In West-Central Mexico, near the Laguna de Santa Maria del Oro, an unspoilt crater lake about 2 km in diameter at an altitude of 730 meters.The lake is surrounded by steep forested mountains that rise about 300m above the lake. Winter weather is normally sunny and dry, with temperatures more moderate than at the coast. This area abounds in birds and butterflies. There is easy walking around the lake and more challenging hiking in the surrounding mountains. You may swim in the clear waters of the lake and rent kayaks at Koala Bungalows. There is fishing for bass and perch. We are approximately 50km SE of Tepic, 210km NE of Puerto Vallarta and 190km NW of Guadalajara and 20km via a good paved road from the turnoff to Santa Maria del Oro at km 195 on the main highway Mex15 between Tepic and Guadalajara. You may make day trips to a variety of nearby places of interest such as the Ceboruco volcano, the picturesque colonial town of Jala, the archaeological zone of Los Toriles at Iztlan del Rio, the Agua Milpa dam, which is renown for the best bass fishing in Mexico; and Tepic, the capital of Nayarit. I have two bicycles that you may use to visit nearby waterfalls and scenic viewpoint. We are not far from the historic town of San Blas and the famous jungle cruise, the lovely beaches of Chacala and Guayabitos. If you are arriving by bus, take a collective taxi to Santa Maria del Oro, and I can meet you there. If you wish I offer to meet you at the airport (Guadalajara or Puerto Vallarta) Just pay the toll road fees and gas for my car. This is an unspoilt area just 5 minutes by road to the lovely Santa Maria del Oro lake, or about 20 minutes walk. I have a couple of bikes that you may use to visit the lake or the nearby waterfalls. The area is popular with birders and over 200 species have been named. You might like to hike around the lake since the views are incredible and you may see some of the wildlife like deer, armadillos, squirrels, opossums, iguanas, chachalacas, magpie jays and lots more. The lake is ideal for swimming, boating, kayaking and fishing. I recommend this place to relax and use as a base for visiting many places of interest. I am a keen gardener and keep the landscaped gardens looking their best at all times, there are many flowering trees and bushes, lots of grassy areas, shade houses with hammocks, so if you like to relax and be in close contact with nature then you will love it here! My wife and I travel extensively and when we are home we enjoy meeting people from all over the world, We look forward to your visit!

The NeighborhoodThis is a quiet rural area near to the Santa Maria del Oro lake, yet just one hour from Tepic, the capital of Nayarit. Guadalajara is 2 hours from here and Puerto Vallarta 3 hours. It is a great place to relax or go hiking. It is also great for birding and to be in touch with nature. Getting AroundIf you have no transport I can usually provide transport to and from Santa Maria del Oro, 15 minutes from here. There is a collective taxi service (combis) that passes by the rancho and goes to and from Santa Maria del Oro (15 minutes from here) Other Things to NoteThe comfortable cabin is light and airy, and well situated, although more rustic than my other rental accommodations. It has its own nearby outside toilet and shower. The water for the shower is heated by a wood burning boiler which is simple and easy to use.

      Servicios disponibles para los huéspedesEs de hacer notar que, como uno de los lugares más visitados por turistas en el país, Santa María del Oro cuenta con centros turísticos como el Charco Verde, en Acuitapílco de Baca Calderón, los balnearios de aguas termales de Acuña, en La Labor, así como El Agua Caliente, cerca de El Limón. A esto se suman pueblos que, por haber sido centros mineros, conservan fincas que datan de los siglos XVI y XVII, y que son también un imán para los turistas. Atención a los huéspedesEN EL LUGAR VIVE UNA PAREJA QUE SE ENCARGA DE LA LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO DEL LUGAR ASÍ COMO DE PREPARAR LOS ALIMENTOS CON LA COMIDA QUE LLEVAN LOS HUESPEDES. El BarrioEn derredor de la laguna de Santa María del Oro se encuentran bosques de pino y encino, pero además, como en buena parte del municipio, se observan diversas especies animales (venado, tigrillo o roedores), entre los que se incluyen los peces propios de la región; el paisaje del vaso lacustre es, por otra parte, extraordinario, y está rodeado de exuberante vegetación y vida silvestre, especial para pasear —a pie o en lancha—, pero también es opción para degustar platillos típicos Para tener en cuentaompletamente natural y aislada, Santa María del Oro contiene agua dulce que, por la gran cantidad de minerales y su alto nivel de alcalinidad, presenta cambios de color constantes que se pueden apreciar en tonalidades que van del azul al verde brillante; su extensión es de poco más de 1.6 kilómetros en su parte más ancha y de 1.2 kilómetros en la más angosta, por lo que sus aguas son tranquilas e ideales para los deportes acuáticos. En este sentido, la laguna se halla a 10 kilómetros del pueblo del mismo nombre, a media hora por carretera desde la capital nayarita; aquí lo importante es que gracias a eso posee servicios tales como tiendas, clínicas, farmacias y un mercado tradicional con gran variedad de artesanías elaboradas por los huicholes. En cuanto a servicios, hay opciones para todo tipo de presupuestos y necesidades, desde planes románticos y alta cocina hasta villas y bungalows para visitas grupales o familiares, con gran cantidad de actividades disponibles para todas las edades. Y aún hay más El pueblo nació como sitio minero, algo que lo vuelve escenario interesante por sí mismo y una atracción turística natural en el país, pues cuenta además con una de las Iglesias más antiguas de México, el Templo de La Ascención, construido a partir del año 1594 en lo que fuera el antiguo Territorio de la Nueva Galicia durante el siglo XVI. En la cabecera municipal, además del Templo de la Ascensión, en Zapotanito se encuentra la capilla del Espíritu Santo, construida en el siglo XVII, cuyos muros son de adobe y aplanado; además, en el Torreón está la capilla de nuestra Señora del Refugio, a lo que se agrega que, en Tequepexpan, se halla el templo de San Antonio, del siglo XVIII. De igual forma, puede visitarse San José Mojarras, en cuyo casco de ex-hacienda se ubica la capilla de San José, edificada también en el siglo XVIII, aunque cerca se encuentran las ruinas de una fábrica de alcohol y un ingenio azucarero.
