The SpaceThis is a brand-new home built in a colonial/mediterranean style. It has a large, covered portico with beautiful views of Lake Atitlan and the mountains. Guest AccessPrivate bath with gas hot water (not a suicide shower). Although we have good water pressure, you will find that after about 5 minutes, the water will run cold. If you're a quick bather, this may not be an issue, but if the water runs cold, turn off the water for a minute or two while the pump build pressure to feed the hot water. King-size, orthopedic bed accommodates a couple or single. Kitchen available for guests to use. Please replace any products you use, and thank you for leaving dishes clean and put away. Interaction with GuestsSpace is private and you largely have the place to yourself. We are available to answer questions about the area, but leave you to enjoy the peace and quiet. The NeighborhoodThe views are amazing, we have great neighbors, its quiet, and easily accessible. If you are interested in taking a dip in the lake, you can walk out the Finca Road (where we are located) just past our house, where you will see footpaths leading down to the lake. Take an undated footpath down and enjoy your swim! This road becomes a trail leading out the old coffee finch, also and interesting and beautiful walk. Getting AroundThere are pickup trucks that run by the house and into town which run sporadically during the day. We recommend calling a tuc-tuc (moto taxi) which is very inexpensive; we provide names and numbers for reliable, responsible drivers who can pick you up and take you where you want to go. Its about a 15-20 minute walk into town, beautiful and safe. Tuc Tuc fares to/from our house should cost you more than Q10 per person. Other Things to NoteGay-Friendly

The SpaceThis chalet has an amazing view over one of the most beautiful lake in the world, lake Atitlan. The sunrises are spectacular even from inside the house. Guest AccessTv, local cable, some english channels. Internet. Interaction with GuestsDepending of guests. I can be as invisible as you want or I can be playing guide. I am a sociable person, but I do not impose myself. I speak french, english and spanish. The NeighborhoodSan Pedro La Laguna is an amazing maya village on the shore of lake Atitlan. You can go kayaking, horseback riding, trecking, etc. The restaurants are cheap and good. About a dozen bar where you can go out at night. Getting AroundWhile in Guatemala, use the "chicken bus". The bus passes right in front of the house and can bring you to the next village or to Guatemala City. Lots of tourist shuttle leave San Pedro every day to other touristic destinations. Tuk-tuk will help you in town. Other Things to NoteThe cost of living in San Pedro is cheap. So, think about staying for a while. Price goes down for longer stay. The first 25 steps to access the house are not suitable for drunk people, or people easily afraid of hight. After a couple of day, you'll laugh about it, but the first time it's a bit scary.

The SpaceThis 2 bedroom house on 3 levels is the ideal place to experience San Pedro. Tucked in a quiet corner just yards from the lake shore, its' central location is just a few steps to restaurants, bars and launches to other towns. The house works well for 1 to 4 people because there's plenty of space, both outside and in. If you like to cook, we have all the amenities. If not, there are restaurants close by. The roof has a 360 degree view of the Lake and volcanoes and is the perfect place to relax and experience the view either under the thatch roof or in the open under the sun or sky. There are 3 bedrooms available. However, if you only need to use 1 or 2 of them (2 couples, or 2 singles, etc), the other bedroom will be locked. Please, smoking only outside on patio areas, which there is plenty of. The house will be yours alone while you are here. Your host is available for an introduction and orientation of the town and area and is as close as a phone call. This neighborhood is central and easy access to everything you need. An organic garden is right outside your front door. Walk up the street to the center of town and there's a fresh fruit, veg and meat market every day. Take a tuk tuk up to the park entrance and take guided walks up the volcano. Or ride a horse out to the far reaches of San Pedro. Tuk tuks (good for 2 people), cost only 60 cents a person to go anywhere in town. To visit other towns around the Lake, it's just a short walk to 2 boat docks and then about a half hour trip to get anywhere on the Lake. From the airport you have options. Public or private shuttles are available. I can explain the different modes and pricing. During the tourist season, San Pedro is a vibrant and interesting place to be. There's lots going on every day and night. Yoga, Spanish lessons, long walks and shopping. The view from the roof of the house is spectacular and a wonderful place to kick back and enjoy the Lake and the volcanoes. Guest AccessYou'll have access to the entire house except for the 3rd bedroom which will be locked. During high season (mid December til after Easter) I rent the entire house out with a choice of 2 bedrooms or 3. There is an extra charge of $20 a night for the 3rd bedroom. Interaction with GuestsI am usually just an email or phone call away so if you need help, you can contact me. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is a fantastic one. You'll find stores to buy your supplies almost right outside the door. Around the corner are hotels, bars and restaurants as well as transportation to other towns on the Lake. But the house is quiet and private. Getting AroundTuk tuks (good for 2 people), cost only 60 cents a person to go anywhere in town. Public or private shuttles are available. I can explain the different modes and pricing. Other Things to NoteWe in San Pedro collectively help out with the street dogs. I am currently taking care of one sweet old gal, Negrita. She sleeps in the house and gets fed inside as well. But is perfectly comfortable and happy outside for the remainder of the day. In my experience, she has been a bonus to all of the guests who have accepted her. I leave food for her and a bed so it is not a cost for you. But it would be much appreciated if you can take her in while you are there. Please let me know if this is a problem.

The SpaceThis cabin was our home, designed artistically in the shape of an octagon with lots of love in every corner. The central column in the main floor resembles a tree, created by Maya artist Ambrosio Cholotio. All tiles were hand painted in Antigua Guatemala and San Antonio Aguas Claientes. The cool breeze from the lake blends with the sunny days to give this cabin an exquisite temperature. With a big garden and private dock, it is a great place for family and friends to join the fun. Guest AccessYou can access the property by a 2 minute walk on the beach from the main dock at San Juan, through a boat to our privte dock, or by a paved road in the upper part of the property, which connects to the main town (set of stairs is considerable). The rental includes a fully equipped kitchen (stove, fridge, cooking wear, etc), hot water heater, laundry area (pila), hammocks, purified water, etc. Internet can be arranged if requested with anticipation (only for longer term rentals). If desired, cooked meals or house help can be arranged for a small fee with our former nanny Graciela, a wonderful and helpful person. Jose, our friend and house-guardian is also around to help with things you may need around the house. Interaction with GuestsCurrently we can not interact much with our guests, as we had to move to Guate City for the right schooling our kids needed. We come to San Juan on weekends and holiday, and can plan to meet with our guests if they want to. However, our long-time friends and neighbors are still around and are lovely people you'll also get to interact with. The NeighborhoodWe arrived in San Juan over 12 years ago as part of a grass-roots projet, back when it only had one paved road crossing the quiet little town. We've witnessed its beautiful development into a unique cultural destination to know more about the local Maya culture, shared by Tz'utujil people themselves! Our kids grew up learning Tz'utujil and playing with our wonderful neighbors. San Juan is full of friendly and helpful people, surrounded by luscious mountains and a clean environment...a unique experience you will certainly enjoy. We wcnourage you to visit the (URL HIDDEN) webpage to know more about this lovely town! Getting AroundIt is easy to get to and from San Juan! There are public and private tourism buses and boats every day. The easiest way to get around neighbouring towns is by tuk-tuk, or even better by walking! Other Things to NoteTHIS IS A TROPICAL SETTING, and bugs are inevitable. We have placed screens in the windows, but if you leave the windows or doors open for just a minute with the lights on, you will have hundreds of light bugs on your floor in seconds. Please also be aware that local 'alacranes' (small scorpions) inhabit the lake cose to rocks or wood piles. Some may enter the house. We clean throroughly every day, but you need to be mindful that it is a possibility you find one of these critters around the property. We have a video in you tube showing more of the property. You can access it by typing "Cabin at San Juan La Laguna - Lake Atitlan" ( (URL HIDDEN) )

My vacation home is situated near San Juan La Laguna on the shore of beautiful Lago Atitlan, Guatemala. . San Juan is a small, friendly, safe Mayan community and is agreed by all as the best community around this large fresh water lake in the western highlands of Guatemala. The indigenous Mayans are most famous for their weaving and it is sold around the world. The house is fully furnished with on demand hot water, 3 burner counter top propane stove and village water. From the elevated deck you have an amazing view of the lake, the beautiful mountains and a number of the lake communities. The sun rises compete with the moon rises, they are equally unforgettable. There are numerous things to do here in San Juan La Laguna, hiking to the top of the dormant volcano or hike to the Nose for sunrise, visit the incredible local art galleries, partake in the local weaving classes, study Spanish, take boat tours to the other Mayan communities around the lake, enjoy the inexpensive local restaurants, or simply lay back and relax. Experienced, English speaking Mayan guides are at your service, they are very proud of there heritage. There are few places in the world where you can visit and experience a culture that still maintains there traditional language, dress and customs. This area is definitely a bucket list item. Don't miss it.

A comfortable living room, a full kitchen, a half bathroom on the main floor for the rental bedroom, a full bathroom downstairs and the roof! If you are wanting to socialize with new friends, there are plenty of great bars and restaurants nearby. I ask that you keep the house private. Interaction with GuestsI will probably be living in the house while you are there but there are times when I am away, either at my house in Santiago or traveling. If I'm away, I ask that you take care of Negrita, an older rescue dog who is sweet and easy. I leave you the food for her. She may accompany you on your walks if you don't mind. But she's quite self sufficient and almost all of the guests who have had her during their stay, fell in love with her quiet nature. If this is a problem please let me know. The NeighborhoodWe are just around the corner from bars, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, some of the most fun places in San Pedro. And the San Pedro Spanish School. We are also just a short walk to the dock with boats leaving all day to Santiago. Getting AroundYou can grab a tuk tuk just yards from the house. For about 80 cents they will take you anywhere you want to go in town. The Panajachel dock is a short walk or tuk tuk ride away and the market is just up the nearby street.
