The SpaceThis house is the product of a long time of dreaming. After a lot of brainstorming, reading every design magazine we could get our hands on and buying all the beach house books we could, we decided to transform our dreams into reality. I took us a few years to finish, but we could not be more happy with the result. The house has four bedrooms, every one with it’s own bathroom, cable TV, blackout shades and air conditioning. The first is on the first floor: we build it for our grandmother, who can no longer climb stairs. This room has a double bed, and its door it’s just a few steps away from the beach (you can even hear the sea when your sleeping!). The other three rooms are on the second floor and they all have their own terrace. One of then has a double bed, a big desk and a terrace big enough to hang a hammock. The other one has two double beds, a bunk bed and a small terrace. The master bedroom has a king size bed, a huge bathroom and a view of the beach (we actually sleep without the curtains so we can wake up to see the sea).
On the third floor there’s also a sofa bed, a full equipped bathroom and a small kitchenette. This floor it’s our favorite: it has a terrace deck with tan beds and a small pool. This is a great spot to check the sunset.
The house also has a fully equipped kitchen, a BBQ, a living room with TV and DVD. And it’s, literally, a few steps away from the beach and form one of the complex pools. Guest AccessYou can have access to our whole house. We actually have a closet full of games, inflatable boats, books and DVD's that you should check out! Interaction with GuestsI'll be available all the time. Also, Rosario, our cleaning lady, will visit three times a week and she can help you with anything you need. If you prefer so, she could could go everyday for €15. The NeighborhoodThe house is located on a multiple unit complex that has two pools (one of them, and the closest to the house, has a slide). There’s also a small market and a tenis court. The beach is private, and you can ask for a small tent and chairs.
The house is 45 minutes away from Cartagena’s top touristic spots. You can either drive to get to Cartagena or take a shuttle that would pick you up at the house's door and leave you wherever you decide in Cartagena. They work, by previous reservation, 24 hrs a day, for a very reasonable price.
Lonely Planet’s website describes Cartagena as "a fairy-tale city of romance, legends and sheer beauty, (...) an addictive place that can be hard to escape". We could not agree more. Cartagena's old historic downtown it’s filled with top class restaurants, trendy shops and cool bars and discos.
You can also visit places like the Museum of Inquisition and the Cartagena Museum of Modern Art. On the last years, Cartagena has become Colombia’s cultural capital city and home for the Hay Festival (a seven day event about literature and music) and the Classical Music Festival.
Another thing you should consider is taking a day trip to the unbelievable Islas del Rosario. You can take a boat on the port, and be back at the afternoon. Getting AroundIf you are using a car Cartagena is just 45 minutes away on a straight highway.
If you prefer not to drive, there's a shuttle that would pick you up at the condo and leave you wherever you want in Cartagena. You need to reserve this service 24hrs beforehand. Other Things to NoteIf you want to, a daily three-meal menu of Colombian and international food can be prearranged for an extra cost.
