The SpaceMaplehurst is a quaint, Antique home with lots of history, set in a tiny village on the ocean. Attending a wedding at Edgehill? This is the Ideal place for the parents of the happy couple. You can walk there or drive over in one minute! We are upscale with more bathrooms than Edgehill. We are near Blue Hill which is filled with Art Galleries, music, antiques shops and lovely restaurants. Haystack and Stonington are close by. Acadia is an hour, as is Bar Harbor. You can enjoy all types of ocean cruises from either Stonington or Bar Harbor, for a few hours or all day. Verizon cell phones are not working wellhere but you may use our house phone for sure any time! Guest AccessA bedroom is furnished with a super comfy pillow top Queen bed, feather pillows and lovely soft linens. We do have twin cots in the house, so if you had one or two small children it would be mighty snug...but we could set up the cots at bedtime in the sitting room. I will charge an additional $50 for a child. We have set up two rooms on the third floor with two twin beds. The eaves are low and are not a large rooms, but is cozy and has a nice bathroom. If you wanted to bring 1-2 larger children they could sleep there for a fee. Please know the house is roughly 200 years old and is in NO Way handicap accessible. The stairs to your area are VERY steep. the toilet is at the bottom of those stairs and your suite and shower are up those stairs. I am sorry, but that was simply the way they built them back then. If you bring a pet I will ask a $25 cleaning fee. I am probably going to need to decline cats due to the vast number of people who are allergic, myself included, but I AM willing to talk it over with you as to how much access your four legged family member might need. We also have birds so a feline isn't really compatible. We would Adore having dogs and parrots. If you have a pet Boa Constrictor or lizard or something exotic, we can talk about how that might or might not work. It more or less comes down to safety and damage. August is our High Season and the most Gorgeous time to be in Maine with sapphire skies and seas! The sitting room has free satellite TV, Pay-per-view TV (on the Honor system) and a DVD player with lots of movies to use. We have books and references for traveling in the area or books written by Maine writers. There is a CD player to listen to music or you can just listen to the stream, the crickets and night noises of the yard. There is a mini frig, microwave to make your popcorn, a toaster and a coffeemaker with a huge selections of coffees, tea's and cocoa's. You may use the kitchen at any time 24/7. I simply ask you load the dishwasher with your dirty dishes and leave the kitchen as you found it. I will provide cereals, milk, juices, eggs, breads for toast and jams. There happy to stock any special request you make before your arrival. Please alert me to allergies or issues. We do have nuts in the house. If you'd like to make dinner here, I have staples you are welcome to use. The beach is a 5 minute downhill walk and you probably won't see any other people there. It is a typical Maine pebble beach with a tide that goes out quite a bit. The closest National chain, The Hampton Inn charge about $250 per night just as a matter of comparison. I think you will get good value here. You may use the washer & dryer in the washroom and well as the iron and ironing board. There is a lovely deck with a hammock and Adirondack Chairs. You are welcome to grill if you like. There is a gazebo if you want to smoke a cigar or something. There is however absolutely NO smoking of anything in or near the house. The risk of fire is too great. Our small volunteer fire department has never saved a house as there is no public water they can access. They bring some water and use that to stop the fire spreading to protect the neighbors. That's all they can do. You may use my Garmin when you are here to find your destination. There are also plenty of books and board games to use. Fresh linens and towels are provided. You will find plenty of additional fresh ones in your closet. There are spa robes for your use. There is an Air Conditioner, a space heater, a fan, hairdryer, curling iron and alarm clock you may use. If there is anything at all you need or forgot or had confiscated by our ever vigilant airport security, I have nearly anything you could think of. We are a place to get away from the city, the rat race, the bustle of crowds. On a clear night the stars are magnificent, the fireflies are so pretty from the hammock or porch swing. The gazebo or cupola or beach are perfect places to read a good book. We are quiet, peaceful and utterly safe. Come and ignore your laptop, attend to your partner, relax, breathe the clean air, saunter through the shallow waters edge and be amazed how crystal clear and clean it is. Get out on the water on a boat and smell the salt air. Let the world turn without you for a bit. Make some Maine Memories! Interaction with GuestsWe will greet you and then leave you to enjoy your vacation! If you cook in the kitchen we will see you from time to time, but we won't bother you at all. On the other hand, should we all hit it off, we are more than happy to share travel stories and visit with you to any extent that you would enjoy! All guests need to be verified with AIRBNB. Please don't arrive with additional loved ones until you clear it with me. This applies to children, pets, friends you ran into, etc. I would like a $25 cleaning fee if you choose to bring a pet. We adore animals and will be thrilled to have them, but they tend to require a more complicated cleaning before the next guests who may have allergies. The NeighborhoodWe are a tiny hamlet of 94 households and crime really does not exist here. People are friendly and kind. After dark you will only hear the sounds of nature, possibly the occasional car. Cell phones normally have 1-3 bars at Maplehurst. . Maine is THE most rural state and also very poor, so there is no money to build the infrastructure. Our speed is 9MB per second versus Manhattan which is 150MB per second. Hopefully you will come to relax and get away from technology and work for awhile. If you do need a working weekend, Portland might be a good solution. Getting AroundYou will want to rent a car. There is no public transit. You can rent bikes, kayaks, and canoes. The kayak - canoe company will deliver to our house.I highly recommend taking a Three Masted Schooner Tour, whale, seal and puffin watching or we love touring around the islands with Old Quarry Ocean Adventures. Other Things to NoteI will share just about anything I can, if I have it in my house. I simply want you to leave my house as you found it. Accidents do happen, please just let me know when something has broken. My goal is for you to have the most Wonderful AIRBNB visit ever! If it is my ability, I will do anything I can for you to make that happen. Lastly, in an antique house, things do go wrong. Especially we have noticed, old houses equal old plumbing. Please tell me. It will never hurt my feelings and I sincerely want to know if there is anything that could be improved. Give me the opportunity to make it right. Please & thank you so much for looking at our listing and hopefully for choosing us!

With new development in the area my view is now obstructed by a neighbors gazebo. There is still a view of the water from my deck/gazebo and most places in the house. I will also be available upon request to great you upon arrival. My neighbors also help me out time to time when I am unavailable. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet and the few neighbors I do have are locals. There are only a few other houses in the immediate area that rent. Many of my neighbors are fishermen and leave very early in the morning and go to bed early in the evening. There are also some retired couples in the area and some seasonal residents. You can see the ocean in two directions from the top of the road at the corner of the property. Very pretty and you will be able to hear a passing lobster fishing boat from time to time. Getting AroundThere is no public transport on the island. You will need to have a vehicle. Some people will choose to ride bikes once on the island. Other Things to NoteIf you have a pet and are interested in bringing him or her on vacation with you, let me know, and I can see if I can accommodate you.
