The SpaceSet among stands of fir, alder and maples that provide complete privacy with plenty of sunny areas, a lawn, and garden, not to mention the outdoor shower and bathtub on the cliff edge. A trail leads down to a beautiful private beach below, where there are clams and oysters for the picking. Located on the south point of Cortes Island, it is close to Manson's Landing, with its grocery store and café. This cozy vacation rental, has a feeling of both casual comfort and style, and is ideal for a romantic getaway or a quiet retreat for families of up to five people. This is a 2 bedroom home, each with their own bathroom and all the luxuries of a modern home. Guest AccessGuests have full access to the property (oceanfront home, internet access, outdoor shower and bathtub, private beach, and garden) Interaction with GuestsOn the day of arrival I will introduce you to the property. You will then have all the privacy you need. The NeighborhoodCortes Island has approximately 1000 residents and is a world renown destination in the heart of the discovery islands. This island has 3 communities, Mansons Landing being the largest of the 3 on the south end, which is a 5 minute drive away from Caz's Oceanfront Vacation Rental. Located on a private dead end road, so there is hardly any road noise; making it a wonderful road to walk on as well. Southpoint road has about a dozen beachfront homes with a trail network leading you to the Hollyhock Institute and into Mansons Landing. Getting AroundThere are many ways of getting to Cortes and Caz's Oceanfront Vacation Rental. You can come here by ferry, water taxi, or seaplane. The ferry runs regularly from Campbell River where many guests fly into on Vancounver Island. Then it is a two ferry ride where you will begin to relax as you enter a world of clear ocean waters, stunning vistas and ... quiet. Then you can drive or take the Cortes Connection transit down to the house. Other Things to NoteHollyhock retreat centre is just a short walk along the beach from here. You can check in for organic vegetarian meals and massage.

The SpaceDo you want to really get away from it all - on a secluded self-sustained island? Hard to get! Great big semi-waterfront cedar cabin at Indian Point, one of the most desirable location on beautiful Savary Island. 2 minutes from a beautiful white sandy beach. Off-the-grid, rustic but spacious and self-sufficient (with own electrical system) with everything you need for cooking. Interior shower (1 full bath + ensuite 1/2 bath). Woodstove (not a fireplace but a nice warm woodstove), big fridge. Ideal location, very quiet, less traffic, flat and shallow water. Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms with queen size beds. July and August available at $1500/week, Saturday to Saturday; or $800/week in June and September. Guest AccessThe 3 BR cabin including kitchen, Living Room, 1 1/2 bathrooms including en-suite 1/2 bathroom in one of the bedroom, except the back storage area. Interaction with GuestsI will be available by phone, text, email; and I have a caretaker and cleaning lady on call. The NeighborhoodIndian Point is one of the quietests area of Savary Island. However, July and August, being tourist season, will be busy. Getting AroundIndian Point is at the other end of the island. Please bring all your groceries and drinks, as there are no store or restaurant nearby. Sheldon, a neighbour artist, usually has a little cafe/exhibit going on. The kayak/paddleboard rental is 2 doors down and is very reasonable (the land and watertaxi will charge you at least $25/each way for transporting yours (please inquire). There are 4 adult and 2 kid bikes at the cabin that I get tuned up at the beginning of the season. There is also a game of crocket at the cabin - fun to play on the beach. Taxi charges about $30 one way to the other end of the island (a 15-20 mn drive with other passengers if any). The watertaxi is about $12/one-way per person. Other Things to NoteThis is a real treat for the nature lover, someone who is committed to green living, and who can appreciate being among 2nd growth douglas firs and where electromagnetism is very low - as it is off-grid. However, if you are looking for a 5-star hotel service, this is the wrong place -Savary has a real shortage of helpers during the summer season. Every year, I do improvement to the cabin, but things on Savary Island, being that is barge and watertaxi only, move pretty slowly - and that's the beauty of it. Travelers will have to be able to operate a small generator (very straight forward - I operate them all the time) and water pump (also very easy) - although new pressure system planned for the Spring, so the water should come up automatically.

The SpaceBuilt by the old Beach-comber this cabin is one of four cabins in the wooded enclave. It has an airy feel because of the high ceiling. The builder hung swings from the ceiling allowing his guests to swing while he plied them with home-made brewery beer. Well, now the high ideals are what keep our guests aloft! Haheheh Guest AccessThere is communal eating area at your option. And there is a wash-station, and a covered sitting area, candle-lit at night. Interaction with GuestsWhen I am there I can make a hotspot for your internet. And plug devices into solar chargers. And I can make a nice little cappuccino or moccachino. Wow, you wanted to find that funky back-to-nature Survivor experience combined with a trip to a tropical, castaway island?! Yes. Here is your island: Savary on the west coast of BC just a short jaunt north of Vancouver or Victoria. I can give you travel directions. The MINT Tea house... well it is special. Expect to survive with only the items you bring. Then all your expectations will be exceeded. Don't expect water, certainly not hot water, no forced air heating, no TVs, no mints on the pillows. Pillows? Did you bring one? Alright, now lets talk about the special gifts you will be offered here: there is abundant flora and fauna, but no predatory animals to contend with and it seldom pours. The sand under your feet is soft. The temperature and sweetness of the air makes your shoulders drop away from any tension that you used to hold in your neck. Now you are more inclined to link some daisies together and loop it round that strong, head-held-high neck of yours. The soft conversations you have with your travelling companions become gentle giggles as you share food, glances, vulnerabilities, smiles. And yes, you will be sheltered and find a soft place to sleep. And you'll be warm in your cottage in the trees. There are four cottages 1) Guinevere's Castle, 2) The Cappuccino Cottage [fondly tagged as the disco] sleeps three, 3) the Klondike painter's studio with the model's daiz (sleeping space on the queen) and 4) the "sports bar" or games-room. The beaches on Savary are pale and soft and come in long stretches all along the island. My favorites are on the south side but the western point of Savary is a curl of sand that wraps nicely around the north side. The whole island is only 5 miles long. The Mint is in the trees on the western end of the island so you must prepare yourself for living with, rather than against, the grain of the island ecos. While you are here you will walk and explore all over. You can rent bicycles to get around too. And your feet will have met many friendly footprints in the sand. By the time you are due to leave you will be thinking that soaping down with a shower every morning before going to work, is a poor trade for losing the tranquility and certainty of life on Savary. And probably you'll be conferring with each other, "can we book an extra week next year?" Welcome to Savary Island, the slender crest of sand known as Hawaii of the North. The most common point of entry to the island is water taxi from from Lund, BC. Or, come by private boat or plane. The Mint Teahouse: the shed, the deck, the cabin, and the cottage are nestled in the woods. It's a nice meander to either side of the island and the beaches there. Bring food, bring drinks, eat, drink, unwind. Bath only in the sea. Let the emails go unread for a few days.

The Studio is a raw log cabin with a model's dais on which to drape oneself at the end of a warm day spent in the sensuous sun of Savary Island's south beach. There is sleeping space for a maximum of three in the studio. The studio is roughly hewn, simple and subtly luxuriant. It comes equipped with easel, turpentine and a few basic painting supplies and a music stand. It has a composer's bench where guitarists are free from the arms of chairs. There is soft natural light and a sense of being part of the surrounding enclave of cabins and found art. The studio mirrors the driftwood beaches laced with seaweed and dappled with white shells. Bring your creative tools. Bring some easy food to keep you going. We'll provide the shelter, comfort and warmth. Savary Island. off shore from LUND. On the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia. A long slender curl of land edged with sand - that is Savary Island. You will take a water taxi from Pacific Pro Dive in Comox or from Lund Water Taxi to arrive at Savary Island. Visitors to the island bring goods for their stay and leave with the tailings and many good memories.

And probably you'll be conferring with each other, "can we book an extra week next year?"
