If you are traveling via Route 2, the detour adds approximately 15-20 minutes. Other Things to NoteIf you will be arriving after dark, it is good to bring a flashlight. The SpaceThe sun room is our favorite room - great for looking out to the next peak, putting a puzzle together, or doing yoga. A full kitchen with a gas stove and frig. Great master bedroom that is large with lots of windows. Soapstone wood-burning stove to cut the chill or generate serious heat in the winter. A small second bedroom that can sleep 4 in a pinch (there are 4 matresses right now) - bunk beds are coming... Guest AccessGas grill, hiking to the creeks that border the property. Interaction with GuestsAs much as is needed. I can tell you about the local waterfalls, fishing spots, hiking, etc. Getting AroundA car is needed unless you like to bike. Other Things to Note1.The cast iron frying pans are in the oven. a.To clean these pans just use hot water and a brush – no soap is needed. b.Please put a little oil on the pans when you are finished using them and wipe with a paper towel. 2.It is a good idea to quickly wash pots and bowls before using. 3.Please conserve water. Water comes from an artesian well and is limited. If you take long showers you may run out of water. 4. If the hot water is not on, go into the small bedroom closet. On your left you will see the hot water heater and an electrical plug hanging down. Plug that in and you will have hot water! 5.There may be additional paper towels in the small bedroom’s closet up on the shelf. If not you will need to buy some. 6.The glass table can be set up out on the deck with the chairs. If you use it please fold it up and put it back in the cabin at the end of your stay. 7.The picnic table may be in the car port. You can move that out and put it where it is convenient for you. No need to put it back. 8.If you want to explore our woods: Two creeks border our property and come together in the back, so the property is bordered by the creeks and the road in a triangle shape. So, you can’t get (too) lost if you just stay inside those boundaries. 9.There are towels and extra sheets in the master bedroom closet. Also extra pillows there. 10.To operate the wood stove: a.Clean the ashes (if there are any) into the metal bucket next to the stove. b.Open the damper by turning the little handle on the lower left to the down position. c.Put in a little paper and some kindling (birch bark works great) and light the fire. You may want to leave the door open a crack so more air comes in while it is lighting. d.Once the fire is going put a few small pieces of wood on the fire to build it up. e.If the stove is generating too much heat you can turn the damper up to the left which will reduce the air to the fire causing it to burn slower. 11.Cell phones don’t work at the cabin. 12. There is a store in Savoy to buy basic things. You can go to Adams for full blown grocery store. 13.At the end of your stay you can just leave the key on the table. You can leave the cabin unlocked. 14. Please put all garbage in the big garbage can in the porch before you leave. Also, please put all recyclables into the recycle bin.
