The SpaceOur house is wonderfully quirky - fab artwork and character, yet it lends itself to snuggling up in front of the large screen for a dvd or rolling around on the plush carpet playing games with the kids - with toys and climbing frame ready for your wee ones! Guest AccessYou can walk down to Worser Bay beach for the regatta at the boating club, or Seatoun beach for it's sun-drenched pier, scooter-friendly sidewalk, or unique playground. If you're after a bit of social stuff, try the legendary Roxy cinema with its adjoining top class Coco restaurant / cocktail bar - in Wellington's film-making hub, Miramar. This is walking distance (about half an hour) or 4 minutes in the car/cab. La Boca Loca is a legendary authentic Mexican restaurant just a few doors down. The rest of the Miramar amenities are right there too - supermarket, green grocer, library, pharmacy, restaurants and more. Or why not head a little further down the track and visit The Weta Cave, home of the legendary creatures made famous by Peter Jackson's movies? From there it's a hop skip to Scorch-O-Rama, another fine dining spot on the soft-sanded Scorching Bay beach - a brilliant place for the kids to make sandcastles and cool off with an ice cream. Our house is mere minutes away from the airport, around $15 in a cab. same goes for the Wellington gold course, which is adjacent to the airport. We're just up the hill from, Gipsy Kitchen, one of the finest coffee shop/deli's in Wellington. so you can walk down there to start your day or end off at the the fish 'n chip shop/ pizza place just round the corner to end a fab day at the beach and walk back up the hill. (There's a shuttle if you time it right!) Interaction with GuestsThe house will be yours when you stay here. Key exchange arranged with the neighbour. Enjoy! The NeighborhoodOur neighbourhood is safe, very friendly and quiet. It's also very nice! Getting AroundGetting into town is fast and easy. There is a bus stop just down on Broadway, the main road, about an 8 min walk away. You can get the #30 express bus at rush hour in the mornings and evenings and be in central Welly in 16 minutes. and the #28 shuttle bus up and down the hill. Other Things to NoteParking is on the street. There's heaps of space and it's safe.

The SpaceCome and stay in the sunny guest bedroom of this cute 1940's home away from home. If you would like to combine Wellington's most beautiful coastal walks and nature with the opportunity to experience the city, this location is for you. The house has unrestricted views out over Wellington heads, and across to the ever-changing colours of the Orongorongo ranges - it's a beautiful view to soak up as you watch ships sail by. If you don't have your own car, a regular bus to the city is 3 minutes walk away. One of the city's most spectacular walks - the Eastern walkway - is 5 minutes from the door. If you are two friends (not a couple), there is a spare mattress and bedding. Guest AccessWireless internet access is available, as are cooking facilities and a simple breakfast of muesli and yoghurt with honey made by the bees on this property. Or, you might prefer to stroll 10 min down the road to enjoy coffee and breakfast at the fabulous Gypsy Kitchen, one of Wellington's favourite cafes. There is a shared bathroom and a washing machine is available. Interaction with GuestsI work during the day so you will have privacy. I also have a small friendly dog, Alice who loves people!(see photos). I can do airport pickups and drop offs if I am around when you arrive and leave - the airport is 5 minutes drive. I'm happy to tell you about local attractions over a glass of wine or a coffee too; I will also be in and out, doing my own things at times. The house is on the Miramar peninsula, near the airport and the Weta Cave (if you are interested in seeing where The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies were made). We also have a great selection of cafes a short distance away. The NeighborhoodThe house looks out over Wellington's spectacular south coast and bush and was originally built during WWII for military observers to watch shipping movements. Since 1946 it has only had two owners. It has a really nice feel and a big front deck where you can soak up the view. Getting AroundThe number 43 or 44 bus goes regularly into central Wellington ; the bus stop is 3 min walk from the house (see instructions at end of this section). On weekdays, a free shuttle at the end of the lane runs for commuters at the beginning and the end of the day. This will drop you off at the Strathmore shops where you can get coffee and breakfast or lunch at one of Wellington's popular cafes, the Gypsy Kitchen. The shuttle also connects with an express bus into town, the 30, which only runs at the beginning and end of the working day. From the Strathmore shops, you can also take a number 11 or 43/44 bus. If you use the buses, you can purchase single trips or a Wellington Daytripper ticket, which gives you unlimited travel after 9 am each day. If you are coming to my house on the 43 or 44 bus, ask the bus driver to let you off on the last stop on Tukanae street, at the corner of Ahuriri Street. The bus will turn right, you need to turn left and walk along Ahuriri street in the opposite direction. After about 20-30 metres you will get to Sidlaw street, turn right (uphill) here, after about 50 metres Bowes crescent is on the right. My house is the fourth or fifth along on the left hand side (semi-detached): 9 Bowes crescent. It is about a 3 minute walk to get from the bus stop to my house. If you are taking the bus into Wellington, make sure you wait at the bus stop on Ahuriri street - there is a small bus shelter there - this will ensure you take the bus in the right direction. Other Things to NoteIf you like to combine a city experience with nature - bush walks and the coast - this is a great location. The house is small, functional and friendly.

The SpaceHave you ever dreamt of living on the beach, hear penguins and waves as you fall asleep, keep an eye out for frolicking orcas, dolphins or seals, watch the Milky Way and amazing sunsets at night, but still be only 15 minutes from the center of the coolest little Capital in the World? You've come to the right place if you stay in this cozy little room in a seaside bach (what Kiwis call a beach house), with the friendly owner and her six Maine Coon cats (don't book this if you are allergic to, or hate cats!). The bedroom is small but sunny and tidy with a single bed - it isn't always available as I sometimes have a flatmate. There is the option of booking for 2 guests but then you'd stay on the fold-out sofa in the living room unless I am out of town when my very comfy bedroom becomes available (cats on bed are optional!). You will have access to My Sky TV, wireless internet, offstreet parking, a garden and a veranda with a view over the sea to the South Island mountains, not to mention all the natural delights Wellington's South Coast has to offer. I will also happily loan you my kayak, bicycle and snorkel gear for exploring. There is a bus stop right outside the house and it is only 2 minutes from the airport, so great for a late arrival or overnight stay in Wellington. It is located on the Miramar Peninsula so the famous Kiwi film industry, including Weta Workshop and the Weta Cave are only 5 minutes away. So are some great shops, Peter Jackson's restored Art Deco cinema the 'Roxy' and the Lyall Bay surf beach. Guest AccessOutdoor bath, wireless, SKY TV, beach, bike, kayak, snorkel gear Interaction with GuestsI work from home, so am very happy to pick people up from the airport and drop them off there, time permitting (not at 4am please!). I am also happy to show people Wellington if I have the time, or at least point them to the best locations. The NeighborhoodThis is the smallest, quirkiest and wildest suburb in Wellington. A row of only 21 houses, a little beach with lots of opportunity of wildlife and plane spotting and some fabulous views over the snowy alps of the South Island. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop right outside my house which operates into town in the morning and back out of town in the afternoon (Mon-Fri). Or the airport bus which leaves every 15mins is less than ten minutes walk away. An uber into town is about $20 depending on traffic, a taxi about $25-30. Other Things to NoteThere are 6 giant cats with thumbs! They are very friendly and easy to live with but this house basically belongs to them. So, only real cat lovers shall apply! >^..^ It is also a 100 year-old house which means it has a lot of character but it is not a pristine, brand-new accommodation. A cleaner comes in before every guest but with the location near the beach, the house age, my large collection of art and artifacts and the 6 cats, it is not as clinical and austere as some may like. Don't apply if you rather have a hotel room feel!

The SpaceWellington is unique in having such a tranquil and beautiful location as Breaker bay just 15 minutes from its center. The NeighborhoodThe Miramar Peninsula is a jewel. It houses Peter Jackson's Weta film studios (and several of his houses); might it better be called Jacksonville? Cafe Scene... We have an all-day sunny cafe at Scorching Bay (45 minutes walk up the delightful coast) and, round in Evans Bay (a further 20 minutes) the renowned "Chocolate Frog" cafe. Eating Out... There is an excellent Italian Restaurant ("The Tratorria") in Seatoun ( 5 mins) and, rather more up-market, Coco's at the art-deco Roxy Cinema in Mirarmar (8 mins). There's a nice pub in Miramar called the "Gasworks", which puts on a good meal. And just through the tunnel, in Strathmore, are 3 take-aways and a friendly pub, "The Strathmore Local" (6 mins), which also serves food. Getting AroundIf you are travelling by car, there's off-road parking outside the house. We have a bus service. the #30 that stops 20m from our driveway on its way to/from Moa Point; bus times are restricted to mornings and evenings. [Search - Wellington bus timetable Breaker Bay] We can assist with a lift to Seatoun, where the bus/trolley service is quite regular. The Dominion Post ferry - to Soames Island and Days Bay (on the east side of the harbour) - calls in at the Seatoun wharf week-ends This trip makes a memorable day out. [Search - East by West Ferry.] And we can usually help with a lift to/from the airport. Please, just ask. Other Things to NoteThere are some great short walks from the house... To the south, is a small memorial to the Wahine (a ferry that foundered on the Barrett Reef in 1968) and, on the hills above, a monument erected by Turkey remembering the ANZAC action in Galipolli. To the north (1km) is the Branda Pass. From there is a walk towards Steeple Rock on a short track that offers fantastic views both north and south. Slightly longer is the undulating bush-track to the west and south from the Branda Pass which passes along the ridge above the house and ends at the Ataturk Memorial. (About 1.5 hours door-to-door.)

The NeighborhoodBreaker Bay is a friendly community of approximately 200 people in a Wellington. The Bay offers opportunities for coastal walks, diving and kayaking right outside the front door. It is a quiet and sheltered bay on Wellington's picturesque south coast that is very charming and considered the nicest beachside locality around We have little blue penguins that nest all around Breaker Bay and if you go for a walk in the evening chances are you'll hear if not see them. The penguins are shy and do not like bright lights. Breaker Bay is close to the airport (5min drive) but because we are sheltered behind a hill we get absolutely no airport noise. There is very little road traffic on the Breaker Bay road - you're more likely to see and hear cyclists than you are cars. Getting AroundYou have free parking for your car right outside the house all day, every day! There's a bus stop right outside the house. Monday to Friday the #30 express bus leaves every 20 minutes for the central city from 7.30am until 9.30am and returns from 4.30pm until 7.30pm. There is a more frequent bus service from Seatoun which is a short and scenic 15 minute walk away. Its only a 5 minute drive from the airport and I can provide transfers to and from the airport for $5 each way if necessary but not before 7.30am in the morning until 8.30am, or after 6.30pm weekdays. If you're coming from the airport without a car I recommend you join Uber as you'll save plenty in taxi charges. Uber is available all around Wellington. My recommendation of taxi companies is Wellington combined, (phone number hidden). These are the cabs with the 'blue bubble' on top and they have sister companies in the other major cities across New Zealand. If you would to go mountain biking, kayaking, or road cycling I can rent you the equipment necessary. Other Things to NoteI welcome enquiries from all people from anywhere in the world. Breaker Bay is about 10km from the central city and is the envy of anyone living in the city centre. People choose to live here to escape the noise and traffic congestion of the central city. We have resident little blue penguins that make their home here right under the deck. On 5 November 2015 we had Orcas playing right outside - we had a guest staying here whose birthday was that day and she had the opportunity to witness this event. It could happen for you too :) If seahorses are your thing, then I can take you diving or snorkelling to view seahorses in as little as 5m of water. This is a very special site that is not well known about so please keep it secret too :-) I have multiple listings so there maybe other guests staying in the house which is reflected in the rates that are charged. I have a separate, self-contained studio apartment at the back of the property which is often occupied - the person(s) staying there do not have access to the main house but uses the sidegate. Please respect their privacy too by not venturing upto the studio space unless you are permitted to do so. Our spa pool will be ready in mid July 2016 and available for guest use - additional charges will apply on per use basis.

The SpaceA peaceful, quiet home, garden and decks, nothing fancy, but comfortable bed, pleasant host. I am interested in providing short term accommodation for one person, preferably female, arriving or leaving via Wellington airport. Or for people coming from overseas who need immediate short term accommodation while looking for long term rental. However, the Miramar Peninsula is lovely and a slightly longer term may be able to be arranged. Guest AccessAccess to all living and bathroom area, garden and 2 outside deck areas. Hosts office and bedroom excluded. Laundry facilities can be arranged. Interaction with GuestsThe price includes one pick up from and one drop off to the airport or railway station or town for each trip, depending on the times required. You will be sharing the house with me. I am pleased to help with advice on walks, beaches, transport etc, but as I work from home I am not always available. The NeighborhoodMiramar Peninsula is lovely. Peter Jackson's studios, Weta Workshop, Park Road Post Production are on the Peninsula. Stunning sea view walks nearby to my house, many great cafes, movie theatre and lovely beaches on this Peninsula. Just be aware I am at the top of a long steep hill. There is a bus nearby into town and to the local shops and cafes. The beaches need a car or a willingness to walk quite a way. However, the sea view walks are nearby and not too strenuous. Getting AroundBus stop to central city 7 minutes walk. About 30-40 minutes into city by bus. Bus roughly every half hour except late at night. Parking on the quiet street outside. Close to airport, but you need the shuttle or a taxi or me to collect you, no easy bus from the airport. Other Things to Note2 old cats, so not suitable if you are allergic to cats. As you cannot cook at my house, please be aware that food sources, fresh or cooked, are not within easy walking distance. There is a good wishbone at the airport, and a bus every half-hour to Miramar where there are great restaurants and cafes.
