The SpaceTeniqua Treetops is a unique, tented tree house resort, occupying a position high on the foothills of the ancient Outeniqua mountain range, yet situated along the magical Garden Route, close to the magnificent sea shores of the Western Cape, South Africa. Set in acres of pristine indigenous forest, on South Africa's Garden Route, Teniqua Treetops brings you an experience that may be quietly life-changing. Eco-friendly, self-catering, tree houses provide a secluded, romantic honeymoon destination, a haven for nature lovers. A holiday with us will re launch you into the world relaxed, reinvigorated and rejuvenated. Swim in the cola-coloured water of the remote and unspoiled Karatara river, picnic on its beautiful banks and explore the deep forested gorge. Or chill out on the wooden deck of our swimming complex perched high on the hill, the converted farm dams are fun for both kids and adults. All our treehouses are self-catering with the emphasis on environmental preservation and the maximum use of natural products and materials in construction and functionality. You'll love the peace and quiet, the sounds of the forest, river and bird song, and on occasion, the sound of the sea. Sedgefield (23km) is our nearest village for supplies. It sports a supermarket, restaurants, hotel, post office, famous Saturday morning craft and produce market and a church. All treehouses have fully equipped kitchen facilities including cookers, microwaves, fridges, and all utensils. Linen is provided and is changed every 3 or 4 days. The tree houses are fully serviced. Our tree houses offer a unique opportunity to sleep, eat and shower up in the canopy of the forest, surrounded by birdsong and butterflies. Built on hand crafted platforms and situated in carefully chosen beauty spots, they have comfortable tented bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens and leafy luxury bathrooms. It's the ultimate romantic holiday or family fun in the sun - memorable and authentic. In addition to your own tree house, you'll find that all your basic needs are taken care of at Teniqua Treetops. It's a real experience staying with us, one that you ought to take time to settle into, just chill out and enjoy doing very little... To help you into the right frame of mind, each tree house has comfortable seating, indoors and out, braais on the deck and beautiful, unusual bathing or showering facilities, usually with fabulous views. The tree houses are all private and although you can see afar, no-one will disturb your privacy. On site and close to the homestead, is a family braai area with table and seating, an indoor games room with exercise equipment, table tennis, games etc. Outside, you'll find a big jungle gym with a swing and a sandpit for the kids. There's also a trampoline to keep them amused. We have 2 farm dams converted to swimming pools with easy chairs and decks, a great place to sunbathe and cool off. The smaller dam is a children's pool and it's right in sight of the main pool, so you'll have peace of mind, with kids nearby. Then there's the river walk. It's quite strenuous as it's down into the Karatara gorge where you'll find a lovely array of rock pools, cold, cola-coloured but potable river water, beautiful foliage and plant life and of course, plenty of birds, lizards etc. Bask on the rocks for awhile and then chill out in the rock pools. It's fun to take a picnic and spend a few hours. The walk along the river is very special and you won't meet anyone along the way... For those foolish enough to want to do some work, we have a 16 person conference centre with 2 breakaway rooms and a wireless hotspot. This is a wonderful environment for a meeting, particularly if you want somewhere off the beaten track with ample parking for all attending. OUR ENVIRONMENT: Within the immediate vicinity, you'll find a selection of moderate walks and views difficult to surpass. Beyond the Northern boundary is a private estate, similarly to the south is another farm. Our Western boundary is the Karatara River and gorge and our Eastern boundary stretches just beyond the farm road, into cultivated pine forest, no development. Our treehouses are situated in a Private Nature Reserve, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty and of special scientific interest. You may see Southern Cape Bushbuck, other smaller animals and possibly, if you're really quiet and lucky, the elusive leopard. All our guests are charmed and delighted by the birds that inhabit the forest. Butterflies, insects and lizards abound. BIRDING: These are some of the birds that we've seen. We've also heard owls and other raptors in the forest. In one weekend, over 50 species of birds were identified by one of our guests.... We were also able to capture the visit from a spectacular Knysna Loerie into one of our tree houses African Hoepoe Barthroated Apalis Black Crow Black Headed Heron Black Headed Oriole Brown Snake Eagle Burchell's Coucal Cape Bulbul Chinspot Batis Chorister Robin Fiscal Flycatcher Fiscal Shrike Forest Buzzard Forked Tailed Drongo Greenbacked Bleating Warbler Greater Double Collared Sunbird Ibis Hadeda Knysna Lourie Knysna Woodpecker Paradise Flycatcher Rameron Pigeon Southern Boubou White Necked Raven White Stork Guest AccessThe resort is on a farm, which has 35 hectares of pristine indigenous forest and a river. There is also a games room and swimming pools, all facilities are available to guests. Interaction with GuestsWe live on the farm and there is always someone available to help with your queries or to resolve any problems. The NeighborhoodWe are 20 minutes from Sedgefield and 30 minutes from Knysna, there are great restaurants in both towns. Sedgefield has large beaches, my favourite it where the river meets the sea. There are sections of shallow safe river for kids to play in. Getting AroundA car is essential for the Garden route, there is so much to see. Horse-riding, boat trips, paragliding, bungee jumping, tubing, hiking, markets, tree-gliding / canopy tours, Segways, cycling, shops, crafts, nature reserves, game reserves, the list is endless. The Garden Route covers a large area and places are far apart. Other Things to NoteThe tree houses are self-catering and hidden in the forest. So you need to bring all your own supplies

The SpaceHonestly, there is no other property like Sedgies on the Water in terms of position and offering. We've tried to find options for guests when fully booked and we never really can! We are the only reasonably priced, well appointed property accommodating up to 8 people in the region, with direct access to the water (and boating options included - but that's a bonus!) Pricing Information: Our Base rates is for 1 bedroom, and exclusive use of the entire apartment, (2 people) throughout the year with an additional charge per person sharing thereafter, to a max of 8pax. Our rates on this portal reflect our year-round price, but it tends to rise in high and peak seasons - which you can see in the calendar (although it doesn't reflect the change in the additional person-sharing rate above 2 pax during these higher priced periods, so we will let you know on inquiry). During peak season (Christmas and Easter) we charge full-house rates (4 rooms / 8pax) no matter how many guests stay with us, because of excessive demand ;-) Guest AccessOur guests have exclusive use of our beautiful waterfront property. Whilst we live above, the house below is entirely self contained with a lovely front entrance, private decks and direct access to the water's edge and boats. There is private, free, offstreet parking also. Interaction with GuestsWe travel a lot so it will often be the case that we won't be around during your stay, but if we are, we look forward to welcoming you, and to sharing a "sundowner" drink on the decks if you want the company! Other than that we respect your privacy and leave you to the peaceful enjoyment of the house. The NeighborhoodSedgefield is the most remarkable little seaside town. Unknown from the main road, the village ensconces the most beautiful lagoon / lake system as it winds its way from the rivers in the hills above, to the ocean at the village's edge. Village life is very communal and is cemented each Saturday at our award winning Farmers and Craft Market. Just 25minutes from Knysna (the Garden Route's tourism hotspot), Sedgefield is known as Knysna's beachside suburb, because Knysna itself, although on the water, does not actually have a seaside beach! Sedgefield is by nature, quieter than Knysna, with less traffic and hub-bub. It is ideal for walking, kayaking, swimming, paddling, wading, cycling, mountainbiking and motorboat sports like skiing and wakeboarding. For the more adventurous - it is the Garden Route hotspot for Paragliding and Kitesurfing. Because of the pace of life, easy access to outdoor activities and a safe lagoon for swimming, Sedgefield is an ideal family getaway location, and makes for a wonderful romantic spot for couples too! Getting AroundGetting to and from Sedgefield is only by vehicle. We can arrange airport transfers for you to and from George Airport (25mins) if you are arriving by plane. Other Things to NoteThe house is not serviced. If you would like to pleasure of housekeeping services, we charge an additional R300/full day (8.30-3pm) or R200 for a half day (til lunchtime). Also, there are no laundry facilities within the house - you can use the laundrette in town, or laundry can be included with the full day rate for housekeeping services. We have a cottage at the back of the property which is tenanted by a wonderful couple. They do not impact on your space whatsoever, but you may see them on their deck or in the parking area!
