7 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom House With Mountain And Creek Views. The House Of Hues: A Uniquely Restored Victorian In The Heart Of The Catskills. Experience the original country grandeur of staying in one of Shandaken's prominent Victorian homes. This 7 bedroom, 2 bathroom house has been recently restored to represent both the luxuries imagined by the original 19th century homeowners and the tranquil influence of its location in the heart of the Catskills. The house includes a large kitchen, 2 parlors, a suite, and a 3rd floor living room with exciting views. Sleeps 14 in beds. There is also a pull-out sofa that sleeps 2. Many of the house's original charms still remain, which can be found in original woodwork, door knobs, window sash locks, exterior architecture, a bluestone walkway, piano, and the carriage barn. Modern amenities, such as comfortable beds, wifi, cable, national phone, kitchen accessories and brand new linens are also supplied in the house. The house has several decorative themes, including the house's tenants through the ages, attention to detail, and Catskill nature. Stay in the simple, traditionally elegant Buttermilk Suite, equipped with a traditional dressing room. The Purple Room, strung with gold curtains, is suitable for a sleeper who revels in richness. The Lavender Room utilizes bright pastels to fill any guest's heart with joy. The large kitchen boasts radiant heat and under-cabinet lighting, with a direct access to the back porch, grill, and bluestone patio. One of the most unusual features of the house is the pass-through cabinet that allows easy carrying of dishes from the kitchen into the dining room. The west parlor, otherwise known as the family room, contains a flat screen television with DvR and comfortable furniture. Open what looks like a closet door to slip into the cozy den. One can view the rushing Esopus Creek and Panther and Garfield Mountains through the southern windows or go for a dip in the creek within a walk's distance. You can walk up the private woods behind the house to see some of the best views of Panther Mountain, one of the most massive mountains in the Catskills. Phoenicia, voted one of the coolest small towns, is only 4 miles away, and Woodstock is only 20 minutes away. Hiking trails scatter the area, and fishing holes are abundant in one of the finest trout fishing areas in the country. The house is easily accessed from Rt 28 and does not require the use of a 4-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive vehicle during the winter months. The Trailways bus leaves several times a day from NYC and will drop you off about half a mile walking distance from the house in Shandaken. More busses are available to Phoenicia, and then you could take a taxi. We can provide a list of local taxis if needed. There's also a local public bus that goes from town to town if you choose to go carless. Route 28 is busy but has a wide shoulder and cyclists often ride it. Other Things to NotePlease carefully read our rules listed on the Airbnb Description as well as our PDF guide, which we email you after a booking. There is a ton of useful information in it. Please remember that since the house is surrounded by trees and other vegetation, in rare instances you might encounter wildlife or mice. This is something you will find in any property in the region. Also if you are allergic to poison ivy be mindful when you explore as some might grow in random areas (which is completely in Mother Nature's control and not ours.)

The Space"Rose Mountain Cottages" was built as Feitzingers Cabins in the late 1940s. It was a traditional Bungalow Colony with one- and two-bedroom cabins. The SpaceOur log cabin is nestled in the Catskill Mountains on two acres. Plenty of space to host family and make memories in the fresh mountain air. Enjoy your morning sipping coffee on our front deck with sweeping views of the mountains. Secluded from our friendly neighbors, on a dead end road, you will feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Listen to wildlife, hear the nearby stream and maybe catch a glimpse of a turkey family wandering through our property. If it's cold, throw on a few logs into one of our two fireplaces or turn up the heat on one of our two propane stoves. The house retains heat fairly well (even during those polar vortex weekends we've had in recent years) and in the summer it cools off enough at night to where all you need is the cool mountain air coming in through the screened windows. Typically you'll find that it's 10-15 degrees cooler than NYC. If you want to "disconnect" this is the place to do it. Cell phone reception is spotty at the cabin. We do have wi-fi and a landline but cellular phone coverage may be an issue. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire house with the exception of the spa--it's been winterized. Sorry! It's tough to describe where our property ends but know that you can explore the surrounding woods downhill from our place for quite a ways. Interaction with GuestsAlthough I am not onsite, I do have a local property management company who can assist with any needs that I am unable to help with. I am extremely responsive on email. Upon confirmation of your stay, I will provide you with a welcome PDF that will include information on the house (tips/tricks, etc), restaurant recommendations and things to do by season. If you have any specific questions or needs, I'm happy to help. We LOVE the Catskills and all that this wonderful area has to offer. The NeighborhoodThe cabin is a little over 2 hours from NYC (depending on how fast you drive). It's a magical place, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. As soon as we arrive, we feel a sense of calm take over us and our worries melt away. We're close to three top-rated ski resorts (Belleayre, Hunter and Windham), numerous hiking trails, awesome restaurants, etc. You really can't go wrong with a weekend or week get-away in the Catskill Mountains. There's something for everyone and our place is the place to do it from! Getting AroundYou need a car. However, you can take MetroNorth to New Paltz or Amtrak to Rhinebeck and rent a car from somewhere nearby. There's also a Trailways bus that leaves Port Authority and drops passengers off in Phoenicia--10 minutes away from our place. But again, you will still need a car and during the winter months we highly recommend a car with all wheel drive. Other Things to NoteThe cabin is outfitted with everything imaginable to make your stay as comfortable as possible. And, it's also very kid-friendly. We have loads of games and toys available, an extra fridge/freezer in the garage, unlimited amount of firewood for the fireplace and fire pit, DVD player, wi-fi, Roku (you'll need to enter your account info for Netflix or Amazon rentals), karaoke machine, two large flat screen TVs, an outdoor hammock, gas grill, beach chairs, etc. This is our home away from home.
