The SpaceNote that an accident and illness policy is available for $79 to cover any property damage and refund your trip if a covered illness prevents you from making the trip. See "House Rules" for the full rental agreement and coverage for accidents and illness. Also note, the house is NOT air conditioned--it is generally cool in Shaver Lake, and on the rare hot days you can trap cool air in this well insulated house by closing the windows in the morning. This will normally keep the interior 10 degrees cooler than the outside air.
This house is handicap accessible, has a jacuzzi tub, and was built specifically to support large, multi-family groups comfortably. With 5 bathrooms and hot water on demand, it is a great spot for multi-generational family get-togethers. Teens can hang out in the man cave, where they can play the music without disturbing anyone. Adults gather in groups in the large dining room, den, living room or out on the deck. TVs in every room and wi-fi make it a great place to hang out. The hiking/show-shoeing trails off the back of the house make it a great place to take off from for a wilderness adventure.
There is wireless Internet access throughout the house and on the decks. Two Wi-Fi access points are open, not requiring passwords, and one is password protected for those times you need to be more secure. The password is posted in the house. If you have problems with the connection, read the placard that tells you how to reboot it. It is seldom "broken" but might have gotten turned off if there was a brief power outage. There is also a phone number for the Internet Service provider if all else fails. We replace the routers and modem every two years to ensure reliability. Guest AccessThe house is in the woods and there are acres of hiking trails around the house. The house, garage and deck are all designed to be used by large groups. Within a few miles is Shaver Lake for boating and swimming. The small town is close by for shopping and eating out. China Peak Ski resort is a short drive for skiing and snowboarding. Interaction with GuestsThe house is your's while you are here! We have a management company close by if anything comes up and you need assistance. Please don't rely upon texting or email as we might be out and about and not get the message immediately--if you need help NOW then call on the phone for fastest response. You will be expected to wash and put away any pots, pans and dishes you use, clean the BBQ after use, and remake the beds before you leave. The NeighborhoodThe property is deep in the forest, but the roads are easy to navigate and they are snow plowed right after a snowfall. (The driveway is plowed, too.) In the summer, the cool shade of the pines keeps the house very comfortable, and you can sit on the back porch and enjoy the sounds of the forest. It's a very quiet neighborhood, not suited to loud parties, so please come and stay if family time and peace and quiet are your goals. Getting AroundThere is ample room for parking, and the hiking trails will take you to town if you don't mind walking. However, there is virtually no public transportation in Shaver Lake, so you'll want a car. Other Things to NoteEasy to get to, the house is about 40 miles from Fresno along good roads and highways. WIthin a few miles of Shaver Lake, there are also plenty of other small and large lakes nearby, and miles and miles of hiking trails.
