The SpaceThis 1912 Craftsman home combines the modern conveniences of the 21st Century with the solid elegance of the 20th. As an historical Arts and Crafts Home in Orange City, IA, it is included in the Tulip Festival Trolley Tour each year. The beautiful stones were hauled from the California Kern River by train. The Steinway Grand B Parlor Piano, Waltham Grandfather Clock and Mahogany Dining Set are all original purchases made by its 1912 owners, Wells and Johanna Short.
We welcome you into this historical home for an unforgettable stay.
Guest AccessPlease feel free to choose one of the two bedrooms on the main floor. We do not reserve those two rooms out at the same time in order to provide privacy for our guests. The whole left side of the house (2 bedrooms and bath and hall) can be closed off from the rest of the home. One of the bedrooms has a flat screen TV in it to watch Netflix or Amazon Prime. You will have access to the entire main and lower floors, which include kitchen, dining and living rooms, both Guest Rooms, Shared Main Bath, downstairs den and laundry. We've been asked several times about kitchen supplies and it is a fully equipped kitchen with staples, spices, and refrigerator items available for your use. Enjoy!
The lower floor has Ping-Pong table, darts, 'Man Cave' for board games and laundry. We look forward to sharing our special home with you! Interaction with GuestsWe may or we may not be home when you reserve this place. This is our 2nd home and we travel quite a bit. If we are home; we will enjoy meeting you and sharing what we can of our knowledge of this delightful town. If we are gone, feel free to roam around the home and enjoy it by yourselves. Other Things to NotePlease take extra care with the 100-year-old antiques, as they really are irreplaceable. It's amazing that they are still here, as good as ever. Also, we request that you take off your shoes in the mudroom in order to protect the white carpeting throughout the home. Thanks!
