The SpaceWake up to the sound of birds chirping with a light foggy mist traveling over the lavender hill that make up part of our very large backyard. Our little paradise on earth started off as our weekend home and reprieve from New York City but quickly became the one place we always wanted to be! The actual living space is approximately 2500 ft.² but our deck is over 4500 ft.² - we had this made to our personal specifications so that we could entertain friends and family and included every amenity we could think of - a 10 person Jacuzzi with aromatherapy, Night time aura lights, Solar powered accent lights, large pool with surrounding deck and covered gazebo, chefs grill with the perfect amenities to accompany any type of party. We love pool parties, we also have a safety deck covering so that you can continue your party without worrying about a pool mishap (needless to say we have several gates leading to the pool which must be opened by adults in case you have little ones). Our sunroom is completely surrounded by trees and offers a beautiful view of a stream which flows below our house (not to mention the entertainment center and dining area – all in one. We have a formal dining room but have replaced it with a pool table...and large French doors which lead out onto the deck. The house sits on 10 acres of wooded land and reportedly has a mica mine somewhere on it - we have yet to find it (but we haven't actually tried that hard!) While the house is not a mansion, it has beautiful features including brand-new wooden floors made of tiger wood – simply gorgeous – a large entertainment center and nicely appointed bedrooms. The home and property exude peace, love and tranquility. If you are looking to escape it all and enjoy real country living with all the modern features of the city – our home offers all that and more. We hope you can tell that we love our home and if we lived nearby, we would be living there without a second thought! It is simply heaven on earth! Our house is perfect for a group of friends worn out from busy city living – that's why we originally bought the place. We found that we wanted to spend more time in Pawling then we did in our New York apartment (The Sunday night drive back was always filled with dread and put off till the last minute) which is also while we are flexible with your departure! If you are repeat visitors we will be happy to give you a discount and hope that you enjoy a weekend full of friendship, memories and relaxation. You definitely will not want to leave. We scratch our heads every day wondering why we did ;) Guest AccessGuess will have access to our entire home which includes four bedrooms, a sunroom, a living room, A pool table, and an architectural masterpiece of a deck made with pure cedar, a 10 person hot tub and a large pool – all on three levels - and safety gates for those with young children. Our are property has walking trails but mind the ticks! We have a very large and opened yard for children and dogs to run and resembles a small football field! We have a large barn at the top of our property which is useful for storage should you want to rent the place for longer stays. Stays longer than three months are price negotiable. Interaction with GuestsWe we live in another state but we will be very hands on and appoint someone to attend to our guests every need. We can be there with white glove service or leave you alone to enjoy your stay – your experience depends on your needs and desires. Extra fees for catered meals, limousine pick-ups and other amenities not listed here. The NeighborhoodThe best thing about this neighborhood is the privacy it affords. We have neighbors across the street but our beautiful tree-lined property prevents anyone from viewing our home and gives us a sense of being in the middle of nowhere while also providing the comfort of knowing that we are not far from civilization. Multiple grocery stores and access to movie theaters, lakes and fun family entertainment are within 15 minutes drive (looting golf courses). The town of Pawling is amazing – there is a fantastic restaurant which requires some thought as bookings must be made, a bar that has famous singers and songwriters showing up to perform with regularity and lots of things for children to do. Pawling is the perfect example of small-town America near one of the biggest cities in the world! Our home is an excellent spot for a wedding and is a wonderful place for anyone who wants to get married or celebrate a personal milestone in a natural beauty. We are happy to put together the wedding of your dreams should you decide to choose our home for your wedding (from photography to catering – we can plan the entire event for you should you give us ample time to do so) . We are LGBT friendly and would gladly host a same-sex wedding. Getting AroundCar rental recommended – enterprise has a very inexpensive local rate. Taxis are a phone call away and one could conceivably stay on the property without going anywhere if planned correctly. You can hire a taxi or Rent-A-Car but there is no public transportation in the town, unfortunately. Other Things to NoteWe love our home and were saddened to move to another state – we dream of returning to this beautiful slice of heaven with rockers on the front porch and birds singing outside your window. Living in the country, especially the New York/Connecticut/New Jersey area comes with some drawbacks – ticks are a huge problem in most areas. However, our proactive stance has paid off –with the help of a deer fence we erected, regular mice control as well as a regular and fortuitous visit from a bunch of wandering guinea fowl, we have kept our tick population low to nonexistent. Please be aware when traveling in the northern United States to always check yourself no matter where you go. In all our time at our personal paradise, we never had a tick bite which tells you a great deal about our commitment to this problem.

The SpaceFireplace: If you decide to use the fireplace please open the flue, shut off fans, and close windows. If windows are open smoke will be pulled into the house and it'll smell bad. Stove: The electric stove has a large and small setting for some burners, make sure the red lit area is under the pan not outside of it. Also the center burner is a warmer only and does not get hot. Enjoy some cooking! Grill: There is a charcoal grill on the porch. It comes with a charcoal smoker which can be used to light the charcoal for the grill. Stuff the bottom of the smoker with paper towels, remove the top grate of the grill, place the smoker on the lower grill, light, and the charcoal will be ready in ten minutes. Then you can dump it out and cook. Fire pit: If you light an outdoor fire in the stone ring by the stream, please do not leave it un-attended. When you are done with the fire, fill the bucket in the basement with water and douse the flames. This will assure you don't start an outdoor fire. Guest AccessGuests have the run of the house! Before you arrive you should be given a code to the front door to make access to the house easy. Interaction with GuestsPlease contact me before using the stove, grill, fireplace or fire pit. Nothing compares to being close and yet feeling so far away. Enjoy the escape to Candlewood Lake. The Lakehouse on Spur is nestled in a small lake community with direct water access on a rare no-wake-zone stretch of Candlewood where you can enjoy peace and quiet. It has its own private dock to moor your own boat. Powerboats putter-by, waving hello. No loud jetskis or waterskiing to wake you in the morning or disturb your afternoon reading or fishing. If you are an antique lover, you are close to several nearby towns offering plentiful antique shops and 'picker's' paradise thrift shops and flea markets. New England's largest outdoor flea market, The Elephant Trunk is a 15 minute drive and open in the summer. Epic Summertime County fairs, farmer's markets, farm stands and farm to table dining make country living or visiting ideal. Hiking, biking and all manner of water sports are available for you to choose. Nearby Marinas rent powerboats, etc. The owners provide optional rental Kayaks, a Sunfish sailboat and a 4 person pedal-boat to make your way across the lake to the town beach to meet the ice cream truck, have your kids play at the playground or to listen to music performed at the town's pavilion. The house has a large private dock for afternoon drinks, dining, fishing, swimming, with plenty of space to dock watercraft. There is a firepit by the water to relax and enjoy a book and drinks in the evening. Homebody guests can enjoy books, DVDs and boardgames for all ages. Winter provides other fun outdoor activities. Skiing is nearby. All the comforts of home await your arrival in a lovingly furnished 3 bedroom 2 bath cottage. There is an outside area for barbecuing, deck or patios for dining, sunbathing and taking in the views. The 1000 sf home offers a large living, kitchen and dining area. A modern touch inspired the newly renovated bathroom with a deep tub/shower combination. Ample linens and towels provided. (Beach towels too!) In the hall, a cubby was designed for you to keep your shoes and hang your coats. The unfinished basement offers a bonus full bathroom with a shower for those times you need the extra space. An Inviting slate floor foyer has stairs that lead to an upstairs master suite. The landing leaves you in a loft that overlooks the living room. it has a TV, drawing desk, and small day bed for comfort and occasional guest. Beyond the loft is a spacious bedroom with a very romantic canopy bed w/ new mattress and custom bedding. Antique furnishings include marble top dressers, stand up mirror, desk, steamer trunk, & Wing chair. Behind the bedroom is a charming bathroom with a shower and skylight. The main floor boasts a spacious living room with an enormous stone fireplace, grand piano, Antler chandeliers, and a game table (seats 6) with numerous games suitable for all ages. The living room has a large screen 3D, HDTV complete with cable, wireless internet, and a stereo system. Overstuffed leather couches, an ottoman, an antique writing desk and Persian rugs complete the room. Antiques give the home an incredible ambiance, but never at the expense of comfort. Beauty and comfort blend together seamlessly in this home. The eat-in kitchen's hand carved, all wood cabinets and counters are balanced with new stainless steel appliances and closet pantry for easy meal preparation. The French door stainless steel refrigerator with ice maker, the sleek and electric glass top range and dual convection/microwave oven and dishwasher are new. The Kitchen is appointed with everything you need to make yourself at home including coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans, etc... The adjacent dining room has an antique, lazy Susan country pine table with 6 ladder back chairs and chandelier. It is full of collectibles & antiques and overlooks the lake and the sleeping porch. Two guest rooms and the spacious guest bathroom are also on the main floor off the foyer. The first bedroom (The Independence room) has a queen size bed. The second bedroom (Sail Away) has two twin size beds on locking casters that can easily convert to make a king size bed. The bathroom is spacious and clean, with a tub/shower combination and a greenhouse window. The sleeping porch off the living room on the main floor has a small daybed for naps, bird watching, sunset viewing, and a small table for your morning coffee. Altogether my favorite place for lazy afternoons! A separate artists studio downstairs is accessed through the porch. It may also sleep 2 additional guests on a sleeper sofa, & provides privacy for artists, writers, to work quietly away from the house, The views from this room are inredible. There is, of course, a full artists set-up with drawing table & easel, natural lighting, and a private, lower deck overlooking the lake. A spacious laundry room with a large shower and vanity sink & a workshop with storage for boating equipment completes the downstairs studio. There are multiple decks off the cabin with outdoor eating, bar, prep sink, barbecue, fire pit, Hot tub, and lounge areas. On the waterfront, there are also multiple decks for dining and food preparation, outdoor kitchen with an under the counter refrigerator, and dock. There is another fire pit, and a place to set up a tent if you want to 'camp out' by the lake. We provide a canoe and various row boats, and kayaks. Green pond is a glacial lake with clear, clean water for swimming and non-motorized boating for your quiet enjoyment. There will be no roaring speed boats disturbing your vacation! There are two sandy beaches on the private, Candlewood Lake Estates pond where you can meet your neighbors and build sand castles ( no dogs allowed on beaches), or stay on our private beach and enjoy the absolute peace and tranquility that is Green Pond. Fishing and canoeing are favorite pastimes on the lake, and you can usually swim clear across it to the beach. We have launch privileges and use of two beaches on the 20 mile long Candlewood lake and access to it's beaches. Our community is on the northern part of the lake, which is preferred due to that it's the less developed & natural part of the lake. It has over 180 miles of shoreline and you can navigate to various restaurants, beaches, explore islands, and visit the world famous chicken rock ('better than a water theme park' say the kids!). The entire, undeveloped, Green Mountain is immediately behind the cabin, and there are plenty of hiking trails where you find deer, rabbits and turkey. The views are fantastic! You can find more pictures on Pinterest, Sherwood cabin on Candlewood Lake Estates. We have a pontoon boat available for qualified guests on Candlewood lake, and canoes, rowboats available at the cabin. Hot tub, fire pit off the bbq deck adjacent to the house.
