The SpaceThe cabin here includes two guest rooms on the lower level, as well as a shared living room, kitchen, bathroom etc. The cabin is located 15 minutes away from Kurohime train station, up in the forests at the base of Mt. Kurohime. There is a beautiful fresh water stream (you can drink right out of it!) running next to the cabin. In addition to the proximity to outdoor activities (skiing/snowboarding, hiking, swimming, sailing), we are close (driving distance, not walking/biking) to a lot of great restaurants. Keep in mind that this is rural Nagano though! The nearest chain stores are about an hour away on a train, and there are no karaoke, pubs etc., nearby. Most of the stores in town will close here by 5 PM. However, if you are looking for a wonderful, peaceful and quiet time, away from the noise of the city, you will enjoy yourself here. And if you are an out-of-doors person who enjoys
days on the powder slopes and nights in mountain hot springs, this is the place for you. Guest AccessThe entire cabin will be available to you, however I do live on the second floor and so we will share the major rooms (living, kitchen, bathroom). However, your room(s) are totally private and have great views of the surrounding forest. Interaction with GuestsI live in the upper level and will be available to drive you to and from the train station, as well other tourist areas (time permitting). I do work but will do all I can to make your stay at the Lighthouse an unforgettable one! The NeighborhoodThe cabin is a stones' throw from several ski resorts (Myoko resorts, Madarao, Kurohime, Togakushi, Iizuna), and a quick drive to lake Nojiri. There aren't a lot of people up here so it is very quiet and very safe (aside from raccoons and the occasional bear!). Getting AroundIf you have your own car, you are welcome to park in our front driveway (in the Spring/Summer/Fall months). In the winter, you can use the parking lot by the train station. Otherwise, I will pick you up and drop you off at the train station whenever you need it (sometimes I might be working, so it's not a 100% guarantee, but I will try!) The train station is called Kurohime and will take you down to Nagano City in about 50 minutes.
