    27 room brick Federal home built in 1808. This home is surrounded by 320 acres of beautiful views in the center of Shrewsbury. All rooms are very large and most have a double & single bed in each. Some have wood stoves. Guests enjoy walking & hiking on the farm. Much to do in the surrounding area within 40 mins. drive.     We have a beautiful country Inn, listed on the National Register of Historic Homes. The Buckmaster Inn was built in 1801 and is located in Shrewsbury, VT. Shrewsbury is a picturesque, quiet community, wonderful for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing or simply relaxing. We have four guest rooms with private baths. The decor is New England country flare and comfortable for resting after a long day in the fresh air. We have fireside breakfast dining or breakfast served on a very large screened-in porch during the warmer months. We're a very friendly and hospitable Inn and when you are our guests, we make you feel as though you are at your own home away from home. We are centrally located on the back side of Killington Mountain between Rutland and Ludlow, Vermont. We can be reached by major highways and roads which will bring you to our splendid location in our quaint community.     The SpaceThe house is spacious and airy with many living areas, comfortable bedrooms an excellent kitchen and an enormous deck-- and lovely views. There are 4 bedrooms and two dens to sleep 12; Two master bedrooms with king beds, another with a king, another with two twins and two dens with (full size) pull out couches. There are 3 large living areas: a great room with two wood fireplaces and the dining table, a tv room with a couch big enough for the whole family, and a game room for playing music or games. We have spent many hours cooking here and we take our meals very seriously. The kitchen is well equipped with a Thermador 6 burner range, wall oven, outdoor gas and charcoal grills, two dishwashers, and plenty of pots, pans, dishes, glasses. We keep a well stocked pantry as well. The deck is great for relaxing in the sun and eating outside and enjoying the view. We keep a healthy array of tomatoes and herbs growing in pots in the summer. Feel free to harvest! Guest AccessThe whole house and 8 acre property which is great for hiking and snowshoeing. Feel free to use items in the pantry, play board games, read books and play records (Please treat them with respect.) The tv is connected to an appleTV with Netflix, HBO, Hulu, etc. Also: WIFI, washer-dryer, snow shoes. Interaction with GuestsWe’ll be in touch to help you with anything you need. Let us know what time you plan to arrive so we can ensure the house is open . We live in NYC but our caretaker is 5 minutes away should you have any issues. The NeighborhoodShrewsbury is a small mountain town with many old farms and a great general store. Lakes in the valley are great for swimming and boating and access to the Appalachian trail is 5 minutes from the house. Okemo is 20 mins away and Killington is 35. We ski at both all the time. Rutland, 20 minutes away, has the best farmers market in Vermont on Saturday mornings all year. There are great restaurants in Ludlow and Rutland. Getting AroundYou’ll need a car (with 4 wheel drive in the winter,) to handle the dirt roads and steep driveway. Rutland regional airport is 10 minutes away with daily flights to Boston and the Amtrak station in Rutland has daily service to Albany and NYC. Other Things to NotePlease note house is on a dirt road, and has a steep driveway. 4 Wheel Drive is highly recommended in winter months.

      This spacious and pristine cape nestled on a hillside adjacent to the Appalachian/Long Trail in Shrewsbury, Vermont provides privacy and spectacular views of the Green Mountains from the house, from the deck, from the hot tub or from the yard and meadows. The house has all the amenities, is close to several premier ski resorts (Okemo, Pico, Killington) and all the services of civilization in nearby Rutland but also has unmatched tranquility and access to the natural world. The outdoor hot tub allows for relaxing recovery after a day on the slopes and a day of hiking in the woods. The adjacent roofed-over deck provides nearby and distant vistas while you enjoy a meal or your favorite beverage. The house has electric heat and thermostats in every room to maximize your comfort. The main floors have red oak hardwood floors and the family room in the basement with the Jotul wood stove has rustic knotty pine paneling and an expansive Vermont slate floor. There are two bedrooms and two pull-out couches providing space to sleep eight people. The living room boasts a functioning fireplace and a large TV with DVD player. There is free wireless internet in the house. The dining room table seats eight people comfortably. The kitchen has a large refrigerator/freezer, a double oven, microwave and dishwasher. The laundry has a washer and dryer. The house has an attached garage with an entrance into the mudroom and remote controlled garage door opener allowing you to avoid the rain and snow. The house is on a gravel road less than a half mile from a paved road. About two miles away is the local general store/co-op with a wide variety of foods and groceries, open seven days a week. It's a short drive, about 8 miles into Rutland where there are chain stores, 24-hour pharmacies, supermarkets, a Walmart, movie theaters, clothing stores, a weekly farmers' market, and the regional medical center. The house borders the Appalachian/Long Trail corridor which provides opportunities for hiking and snowshoeing. The nearby resorts of Okemo and Killington have year-round attractions in addition to skiing and snowboarding in the winter.

      The SpaceThe bedroom, which has windows to the south and west, has a queen size bed, and a full private bathroom next door off of our downstairs hallway. The hallway is accessed through what we call our sunroom, which faces south, and, in that room, we are providing our guests with a small dining table, 2 chairs, a small refrigerator, toaster, microwave, tea water heater, coffeepot (the organic Mocha Java is on us!), glasses, plates, bowls, silverware, etc.. We provide coffee,tea, granola bars, yogurt, juice, milk, granola, English muffins and some fresh fruit. The sunroom is yours to use. We live on a quiet road, away from heavy traffic. We nicknamed our property the "Skyranch" a long time ago, as we have wonderful views to the west, amazing sunsets, and a clear, dark, and starry night to enjoy. Guest AccessWe live on the level above this rental space, so these 3 rooms described above are exclusively for your use. We will share an entrance door and a mudroom/coatroom in the winter months, and in the warmer weather you will have your own entrance. Other than the entry mudroom, this unit is completely separate from our living quarters. Guests are welcome to enjoy sitting on our decks at the front and back of the house, and feel free to walk the property....we have some amazing views all around. Interaction with GuestsOne of us is retired and mostly at home, nearby and happy to help you if you have questions, need directions, etc., but respecting that we both have our own space as the day and evening goes by. Just knock on our door if you find you need something or have questions. The NeighborhoodAs Shrewsbury residents for over 31 years, we are delighted to share info. about local farms, hiking, attractions, etc. Life is fairly quiet here, but there's lots to do and see. You can walk out the door and enjoy amazing scenery without going any further, or you can venture out on a variety of day trips. We are close to both major ski areas Okemo and Killington, to the famous Weston Playhouse and VT Country Store, the Vermont Marble Museum, the unique Carving Studio, and to the Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show, among others. Getting AroundPublic transportation called The Bus does travel through our town on Rt 103, and has a stop just 2 miles away. The Bus travels to Jackson Gore, part of Okemo Mt. ski area in Ludlow, and to Rutland, VT, which connects with another line going to Killington ski area, or south toward Manchester, VT for outlet shopping. We are happy to help you get to and from the bus if we can. Other Things to NoteWe do have a 4 yr old female dog named Gracie who does not go into this rental space, and she will most definitely bark to announce your arrivals and departures, but otherwise she is getting quite used to people coming and going at our house, and we work to make sure she is quiet while you are in. And, we want to be sure to point out that there are about 6 steps coming up and onto our front deck/ front door, then about 6 down into the sunroom, then another 6 down to the hallway with the bedroom/bathroom. It's hard to describe the layout of our house....lots of levels....but it is definitely not for folks who would struggle with stairs.

      Relax in our 2100 sq foot fully renovated 1850's Vermont riverside home. WiFi and cable TV. Wood stove (wood provided). Easy access to Okemo (13m) and Killington (18m). Driveway ploughing provided. Plenty of shops in Rutland (6m). Rutland Airport (4m). Our home has a fenced in front yard and a very large deck overlooking the 1.5 acre back yard. At the back of our yard is a fire-pit and a bridge to the river. Great for families, couples, solos, big groups. Furry family members welcome.

      The SpaceThis is an 1850's home that was originally a tea house in the days when horseback travelers needed a place to rest-up. It is now fully renovated with modern amenities. Guest AccessThe living room, kitchen, laundry area and office (with treadmill). Our private master suite is off the laundry area. The front yard is fenced in, so dogs are safe to romp. Interaction with GuestsWe are a retired couple. We are usually around most of the day. The NeighborhoodShrewsbury is an old-world Vermont town with a library, a museum, and a country store. Getting AroundWe are 4 miles from Rutland Airport (KRUT). We can pick you up and drop you off there by arrangement if needed. Other Things to NoteNote: We have two exuberant Golden Retrievers who love to play with kids, and two older cats.

Use of kitchen requires an additional fee and must be arranged in advanced. Breakfast comes with room, but supper can be provided for a fee, and catering is available for parties / meetings. Other Things to NoteIf you come up in the winter, I recommend 4 wheel / all wheel drive. Vermont does a good job of plowing, but this is a snow state.

        This beautiful updated Vermont farmhouse boasts 3 bedrooms 2.5 bathrooms plus a bonus room and an open concept first floor. Located halfway between Killington and Okemo ski resorts this home sits on 34 acres at the end of the road, so cross country skiing starts out the back door!! A large fireplace in the livingroom and a woodstove provide warmth and charm in addition to the radiant heat on the first floor. Mudroom with plenty of closet space, 2 car and 1 atv garage bay, and a large kitchen. Including the day bed in the bonus room, you can sleep 6 plus 2 more on the queen sized sofa bed in the livingroom. The perfect multi-generational family vacation home!!! House broken, well trained dogs can romp in the fenced in yard outside the living room. If you're looking for a home away from home this is the place for you.
