The SpaceThe bedroom, which has windows to the south and west, has a queen size bed, and a full private bathroom next door off of our downstairs hallway. The hallway is accessed through what we call our sunroom, which faces south, and, in that room, we are providing our guests with a small dining table, 2 chairs, a small refrigerator, toaster, microwave, tea water heater, coffeepot (the organic Mocha Java is on us!), glasses, plates, bowls, silverware, etc.. We provide coffee, tea, granola bars, yogurt, juice, milk, granola, English muffins and some fresh fruit. The sunroom is yours to use. We live on a quiet road, away from heavy traffic. We nicknamed our property the "Skyranch" a long time ago, as we have wonderful views to the west, amazing sunsets, and a clear, dark, and starry night to enjoy. Guest AccessWe live on the level above this rental space, so these 3 rooms described above are exclusively for your use. We will share an entrance door and a mudroom/coatroom in the winter months, and in the warmer weather you will have your own entrance. Other than the entry mudroom, this unit is completely separate from our living quarters. Guests are welcome to enjoy sitting on our decks at the front and back of the house, and feel free to walk the property....we have some amazing views all around. Interaction with GuestsOne of us is retired and mostly at home, nearby and happy to help you if you have questions, need directions, etc., but respecting that we both have our own space as the day goes by. We like to be present upon your arrival, and have the chance to meet you, and then the space is yours. Just knock on our door if you find you need something or have questions. The NeighborhoodAs Shrewsbury residents for over 30 years, we are delighted to share info. about local farms, hiking, attractions, etc. Life is fairly quiet and simple here, but there's lots to do and see. You can walk out the door and enjoy amazing scenery without going any further, or you can venture out on a variety of day trips. We are close to both major ski areas Okemo and Killington, to the famous Weston Playhouse and VT Country Store, the Vermont Marble Museum, the unique Carving Studio, and to the Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show, among others. Getting AroundPublic transportation called The Bus does travel through our town on Rt 103, and has a stop just 2 miles away. The Bus travels to Jackson Gore, part of Okemo Mt. ski area in Ludlow, and to Rutland, VT, which connects with another line going to Killington ski area, or south toward Manchester, VT for outlet shopping. We are happy to help you get to the bus if we can. Other Things to NoteWe do have a 4 yr old female dog named Gracie who does not go into this rental space, and she will most definitely bark to announce your arrivals and departures, but otherwise she is getting quite used to people coming and going at our house, and we work to make sure she is quiet while you are in. And, we want to be sure to point out that there are about 6 steps coming up and onto our front deck/ front door, then about 6 down into the sunroom, then another 6 down to the hallway with the bedroom/bathroom. It's hard to describe the layout of our house....lots of levels....but it is definitely not for folks who would struggle with stairs.
