The SpaceThe house was redone in Dec. 2014. It has oak hardwood floors throughout, with slate floors in the bathroom. Countertops are beautiful granite. The master has a queen bed. There is a full bed in the second bedroom. The beds have luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets. There is also a sleeper sofa in the living room. The house is about 700 square feet. From the master bedroom and the deck, the views are massive, overlooking the town and the mountain ranges to the north and east. It is a beautiful spot from which to watch sunrises, our ever changing skies, or to lay in bed and watch the moon come up.
The house is one of three cottages that sit on over two acres. The property straddles the city limit, and we are the last houses on this edge of town. The house sits well back from the road and there is a wooded canyon directly behind it, making it very private and quiet. We have no close neighbors, and the houses are separate from each other and private. The home's adobe construction adds to the quiet and helps keep it cool in summer and warm in winter.
Guests enjoy walking to downtown, which is less than a mile straight down the street. The house also has great access to miles of city open space hiking trails, with the trailhead one quarter mile up the street. WNMU is less than half a mile away. Guest AccessGuests have the house and deck at their disposal, along with grilling facilities and a private front yard. There is also a trampoline, slide, and swing for kids to enjoy, and there are some toys available as well. We can provide a crib for small children for a $20 fee, which covers our time to get it from storage and assemble/disassemble it.
Guests comment on how well the house is stocked. We provide everything we can think of for cooking (gas stove), as well as amenities like gourmet coffee, spices, creamers, condiments, shampoo, conditioner, etc. etc. We try to make sure that our short term guests don't have to spend their first hours here out shopping for basics, and to provide our longer term guests with a good start before they have to resupply. Interaction with GuestsThe owners live on the property and are available if needed. However, we are mindful of your privacy and respect your space. The NeighborhoodThis location is unique because it feels like being out in the country even though it is close to downtown. For those who enjoy quiet and privacy but want to be close in, we are a great option. The canyon behind the house is a wildlife haven, and we regularly have deer visiting, as well as over 25 species of birds. We have seen javelinas, foxes, raccoons, skunks, a coati mundi (probably), squirrels, rabbits, quail coveys, and non venomous snakes, among other critters, on occasion. Getting AroundWe are easy to reach off highway 180 as it heads west out of town. We have lots of off street parking with plenty of room for RVs, trailers, etc. Other Things to NoteWe are new to Air B&B, but have been on another popular site for some time. If you would like to read those guest reviews, contact us and we will tell you how.
We have a second cottage on the property that you might want to check out, listed as the Market Street Cottage.
The house is fragrance free. Our fresh mountain air is better.
The house has brand new central heat and air conditioning.
We do not charge a cleaning fee, or a damage deposit, or for extra guests.
We have two rental houses on this property. They were both remodeled and furnished specifically to be short term rentals. We run them as a business to high standards of quality, and they are not simply extra properties filled with our excess mismatched stuff.
